DESCRIPTION
The XT-62a Main Battle Tank platform is the latest in the lineage of Technoid and now Kuat-Entralla Main Battle Tanks. Constructed initially at the commission of then Major General Irveric Tavlar of the Sith-Imperial Armed Forces, the XT-58 Main Battle Tank proved to be an effective machine of war, used to great effect in the outskirts of New Kalandra during the Sith-Imperial invasion of Kintan of the Silver Jedi Order. Even in its debut, the first draft of the XT-60 modernization project began and accelerated following the battle of Mandalore where the Cataphract faced its first true hurdles in combat, having a disproportionate number of the tanks destroyed at the hands of the Mandalorian rebels of 'The Network' in Sundari though overall its performance was successful, able to use its speed to escape destruction or capture at the hands of the enemy with both 12th Armored Division and Technoid reports of the vehicle's perfomance praising its ability on the field where it was able to envelop and lay waste to a large amount of Mandalorian soldiers and armored vehicles, resulting in desirable kill ratios though the defensive position the vehicles were placed in might've skewed this, the tactical prowess for which they were used to their ability and the superior numbers of the Mandalorians gave the XT-58 favorable results.
Then came the development of the XT-60, initially intended for use by the Sith Empire once more only for the contract, originally commissioned by Lord General Irveric Tavlar shifted to the growing New Imperial Order and the workhorse of the Will of Defiance made its debut. It first showed in the battle of Velmor, where New Imperial forces came to the aid of the Silver Jedi Order and the XT-60a proved effective in battle though did not face sufficient armored resistance to warrant a fleshed out report on its combat effectiveness. With anti-insurgency operations on Veroleem came more robust positive appraisals of the vehicle by Major General Waylon Treicolt before the XT-60a saw its true baptism of fire in the battle of Harnaidan. Against adequate and superior numbers in an offensive situation, the XT-60a proved not only effective at destroying enemy vehicles but in protecting its crew, allowing for ample time to escape and evade danger in the field of combat.
The XT-60 variants saw extensive, mainline use by the NIO with specialized and rare use by the GA and TDF throughout the Third Imperial Civil War, with the developments gathered there used in the engineering of its 862 modernization project, the XT-62a. The main weakness addressed was the SIEGE mode which allowed for an overcharging of weapons and shielding system to allow a more lethal and accurate output of its weapon systems from a more protected position but required the vehicle to be totally immobile during this time. This was able to be offset with an optimization of the onboard power system allowing for a very slow and sluggish traverse. Though wretched by contemporary standards was a vast improvement over total immobilization, a trait which resulted in several XT-60s being knocked out in the urban battlefields of Harnaidan and Ravelin through out the Third Imperial Civil War.
Where the biggest stride came was in the vast standardization of the platform as a whole, allowing for variable weapon loadouts dependent on the needs of the vehicle at the time, letting the MBT be an anti-vehicle, anti-air or anti-personnel armed vehicle with alterations made at any place of heavy industry available to the strategic needs of the military force. Later into the Third Imperial Civil War, the XT-62a would begin to phase out the XT-60b as the Main Battle Tank and vehicular weapons platform of the New Imperial Order, with its first places of deployment being in anti-insurgency operations in surrounding territories as well as any engagement to take place in the waning Third Imperial Civil War.
