APPEARANCE:
Xun Jinyi is in excellent all-around physical condition, but is in particularly good cardiovascular and aerobic health. Moderately tall, he stands at 5 foot 8, with a lean but extremely toned body, i.e. large and defined muscles. Xun Jinyi prefers simple, practical clothing. This means he is usually in the loose-fitting, earth-tone robes and tunics. His hair is short, nearly shaved off, and black. Defining features include multiple red tattoos: two streaks under his eyes, and spiraling designs going up his arms.
BIOGRAPHY:
Xun Jinyi was born on a small but resource-rich planet in the outer rim. The population of this planet was historically organized into communistic associations, where commodities, markets, exchange values, etc., do not exist and all production is based around the simple satisfaction of needs and creation of use-values. The religious order stressed connection to the natural order of the universe, rejection of most forms of advanced technology, use of different varieties of psychedelic drugs, and was essentially "led" by an order of Force-sensitive monks. However, this way of life was being threatened by the increasing presence of external forces -- a variety of large intergalactic corporations were developing an interest in the planet for its resources. Much of the general population was resistant to these intruders, but some groups in society became dependent on them in various ways, and became their allies. This created great social strife, and slowly led up to increasingly more violent clashes between the majority of the population and the outsiders and their allies. Xun was caught in the middle of this, as his parents had established themselves as merchants whose livelihoods were dependent on the corporations, but he himself was a young disciple in the monastic order native to the planet. Xun felt himself caught between two sides as the conflict became more intense, and the sides became more polarized and hostile. Eventually, it became evident that war was inevitable. His parents, on the side of the outside forces, made plans to move into one of the large city-settlements that they had built on the planet, and move to this modern urban environment out of the undeveloped countryside that made up most of the planet. Xun ran away from them, joining the monks. For the following few years, a brutal war ravaged the planet. Ultimately, it became clear that the remnants of the old society were completely outmatched and bound to lose the fight. The remaining monks were on the run, hiding out in increasingly smaller sections of wilderness. Because he was young and the elders saw promise in him, the monks arranged for Xun to flee the planet and escape capture and imprisonment or death. Though he did not wish to, he complied with the wishes of his mentors and left the planet.
