- Self-Adjusting Rounds: Specially designed and developed for the Yajirushi, these rounds consist of a slug with micro-boosters attached which when fired will gently adjust the round's course if it is in danger of falling short or in anyway missing the intended target. Digitally connected via a SmartLink to the Yajirushi's holographic scope, which is capable of of marking enemy targets, it is through this method that the rounds know where their target is.
- Penetration: Even when fired from the far distances that the Yajirushi D71 is known for, the penetration and stopping power of the rifle do not considerably lessen. Retaining a lethal amount of consistency up to the rifle's maximum effective range. Able to pierce most forms of infantry body armor and shielding, it has even been shown to put dents into the side of armored vehicles. Showing just how unenviable it is to be a foot soldier on the receiving end of one of these.
- Long Distance: By the standards of sniper rifles the Yajirushi still manages to excel in its effective range. Going well beyond the capabilities of how far the ordinary human eyeball can accurately aim, but assisted with the D71's unique scope. The Yajirushi will ensure that its user can see any target they wish to see and can kill them from more or less anywhere with a line of sight towards them, whether that be across the street or across half a city.
- Scope: Capable of rangefinding and with several sight enhancement options to as far as several miles away, the Yajirushi's scope can assist even the least accurate operators in making their marksman-tier kills. The scope also allows thermal, infra-red, heat and night vision options, while also being able to automatically calculate wind speed and direction. Digitally connecting to the rifle's Self-Adjusting Rounds by marking targets for them and providing this wind data to assist in their guiding.
WEAKNESSES
- Cumbersome: Hardly the most agile rifle, the combined size and weight of the Yajirushi make it somewhat unappealing to an operator who desires speed, unless of course they themselves have guns (Muscle JokeTM). Though far from impossible to carry around in dynamic, fast-changing environments, it would certainly be something to consider before choosing, as the rifle is more accustomed to stationary attacks.
- Noticeable: Once fired, the Yajirushi will make everyone know about it. All that power doesn't come from nowhere after all. Loud and with a large muzzle flash, if the enemy is being vigilant it won't be especially difficult to find the operator after they have fired. Nakaioma Defense Dynamics advises potential operators to take advantage of the rifle's immense effective range in-order to use it as far away as physically possible to attempt to lessen its noticeability.
The Yajirushi D71 Smart Sniper is an anti-personnel marksman rifle developed by Nakaioma Defense Dynamics. Sometimes referred to as the 'Long 70' in urban slang it has developed quite a reputation funnily enough among those unable to acquire it, for its accuracy, killing power and range. A weapon reported to be at times chosen by assassins, mercenaries and other publicly undesirable demographics of customer, it was designed to be marketable towards military and law enforcement organizations as a more powerful and capable, albeit less agile sniper rifle for occasions where a shot was needed to be guaranteed. Like many NDD weapons however it eventually found an audience in the civilian market and is now regularly sold to private citizens where it is legal to do so, though the weapon has fallen into the hands of many black market dealers who now distribute it even where it is illegal for civilians to purchase.
Apart of NDD's Smart Weapon line-up, the D71 has gone through a number of revisions and variations before the current rifle was released to the civilian market. Many older models such as the D70 which lacks much of the smart technology that has been implemented into the D71, remain in the hands of less wealthy individuals and smaller organizations across the galaxy. Delivered with additional attachments such as a bipod, as well as being able to accept other varieties of compatible ammunition, it is a somewhat modular rifle. It should be noted however that the Yajirushi's trademark self-adjustment smart technology will not be available if third party ammunition types are used. Not requiring a manual ejection, the D71 features automatic shell ejection when a shot is fired. While the rifle's railgun internal components remain cooled by a series of temperature control coils in the barrel.
