Yet Another Addition to the CIS Navy..!

It had been a rather stormy day on Rothana. Xonocotl was watching the heavy rain from his office's windows, his cybernetic hands clasped on his back. A Quarren and a young human—the Quarren's assistant—stood beside him. They had just finished designing the Protector-class light destroyer, a design based off the Recusant-class used by the Confederacy during the bloody conflict known as the Clone Wars. However, as the Echani designer they'd invited to check the design out would see, the ship was not a 'clone'. The designer team—Xonocotl himself in some parts of the ship, the Quarren and a handful of men—had filtered almost all flaws of the Recusant for the Protector-class, like replacing the faulty AI of the Recusant which would cause it to ram into other ships.

Xonocotl narrowed his cold, reptilian eyes. Where is she? They needed someone to verify their design's overall quality. And they needed that someone fast...

"Looking for me?" Circe gave a smile. According to her datapad and the message she'd received, this enigmatic reptilian had a ship design he wanted tested. Being that Subach could always use the opportunity, the Echani woman was definitely there, eager to get to work. "Cassandra Cinthra, nice to meet you... Miss Savan sent me." She chose to keep her current identity clandestine. "I heard you have a specialized starship design you want to see the Confederacy use, and you want to do some testing and whatnot for it. Please, show me all you can about this design."

Xonocotl stared at his invitee with his blue reptilian eyes. "Ah," he said, his voice resembling a Trandoshan's, "You must be the Echani Naval Architect. Welcome."

The Quarren and his assistant greeted her with a slight bow while Xonocotl pressed a button on his desk. A blue ship schematic instantly appeared above it.

"Now, let's talk business," the Makurth said before pausing for a moment."We have two ship designs to offer to the Confederacy. One of them is a reconnaissance vessel. We've noticed that the Confederacy relies on older ships or droid probes for reconnaissance. Correct me if I'm wrong."

The Quarren muttered something in his own language. "The first Cerberus-class is currently being tested," the human assistant translated. "This," the human said, referring to the ship schematics shown in the hologram above Xonocotl's desk, "is the Protector-class light destroyer."

"It is designed to escort larger ships," the Markuth admiral joined in, "but it does fare well against capital ships. The Protector has an advanced AI, which means less than 350 men are needed to operate it. It has thick armor and can take out waves of bombers without a scratch." He was exaggerating a little bit, but the light destroyer did have good anti-starfighter defenses. "There are 4 missile tubes on the front, each containing 12 concussion missiles. Two conner net launchers are located next to the 2nd and 4th missile tubes, each loaded with two conner nets. The back of the ship is armed with a considerable amount of ion cannons and point-defense turrets to take out the enemy starfighters attempting to go through the Separatist fleet."

"We also have a handful of turbolasers and point-defenses on the front, along with a proton torpedo launcher containing 10 torpedoes. The Protector has a high maneuverability, an important factor on the battlefield. The hangar has enough place to store 58 Vulture droids and a few gunships." The young human added.

"So, miss Cinthra, what do you think? Any suggestions?" Xonocotl asked.

"The design looks... interesting, to say the least. I was surprised you intended to use Conner Nets, as they're rather rare weapons to get a hold of. I've hardly ever seen them outside of designs indigenous to Chiss space." She paused. "Missile-wise, why not use energy torpedo launchers instead of missile tubes? With the tubes, you can run our of missiles, but for the energy torpedo launchers, so long as there's still power in the ship, they can be fired. They also have a speed and range advantage over physical projectiles."

Tapping her fingers, she paused. "Is there any chance you could get me a full set of the schematics for the design? So I could see full armament listings, lengths and widths, etcetera.

(Sorry for the long delay! I had a lot of RL stuff going on...)

"We do know that Conner nets are hard to obtain," Xonocotl said as the Quarren took a datapad from the desk. "That's why we had one of our engineers... duplicate them. The result was nowhere near the original Conner nets, but it had some great additions. These nets have a larger blast zone and can take out entire starfighter squadrons if launched into the right place. Sadly, they are rather useless against large ships." The Makurth explained and paused for a few moments. The Quarren took advantage of the admiral's pause to hand Cassandra the datapad which contained a detailed description of the ship.

"Now, about the missiles. I've considered replacing the missile tubes with energy torpedo launchers, but, unfortunately, these torpedo launchers require too much energy." The Makurth paused for a brief moment. "We need that energy for the Protector's shield and laser batteries, especially the Prow-class heavy turbolasers and the point-defense cannons." Xonocotl said. "You can see the detailed description in the datapad."

The Makurth then started waiting for her to find the ship schematics in the datapad. He was trying to read her face, but this particular woman seemed good at hiding her emotions... or maybe it was because he hadn't met any Echani before.

And so she did so. "Hmm... An interesting design, if I do say so myself. So, are you suggesting that Subach produce these ships for you? We'd need to sign a contract in order to get that done, and I'm not entirely sure as to whether or not such would be advisable." She paced back and forth, a resolute look on her face as she refused to betray the slightest hint of emotion. "Alright... What are you thinking of with regards to production of this vessel?"

Lancer peaked up from the office chair in the corner, setting down his magazine about celebrities. The latest issue was on [member="Ashin Varanin"] and her new look. So far, the magazines loved it."It's a neat ship. But...I don't think it'll stop us from getting demolished here soon."
