Yet it is The Greatest of Them

Of the many faces Cedric had glimpsed within his dreaming, this one was not the sort he had expected. Unlike the others, he was aware of his ability to command the Force. The teachings of the Jedi had already begun to be instilled within his very bones, but the dogma of outdated doctrine had not yet poisoned his mind. He, like many of the others, was touched by the star of destiny. It was a sign that Cedric was not arrogant enough to ignore, despite his trepidation about reaching out to one that had already begun to walk the path.

[member="Jax Piell"] was virtually unknown to Cedric despite having seen the lad within the depths of the empyrean. Some of the prophecies he had been blessed to learn of explained the origins of those that were the subject in great detail. this one had provided Cedric with naught but a face, a name, and a feeling of importance that he simply could not ignore.

Cyan light coalesced into tendrils of wispy blue smoke. The tendrils congealed and twisted in on themselves, knitting slowly into the recognizable form of a human man. The man was translucent, his body bathed in an eerie blue glow. He was clad in battle armor, his face hidden by the mask and heavy hood he wore.

"Hello Jax Piell," the figure's voice echoed with an ethereal quality.

Mediataing wasn't something that he ejoyed doing but considering that he didn't have any family to speak of on Alderaan anymore it was all he could do. He closed his eyes and just felt the force, not powerful enough to see into the future or sense on coming disaters Jax felt the life around him the trees and the insects moving about. It brought him a strange sense of peace even though the fighter in him felt far to exposed.

He felt someting, a disturbance in the force like there was someone watching him but when he opened his eyes he only saw the bright sky. The feeling remained but he opted to ignore it in favor of just going back to focus on the living force around him.

"Hello Jax Piell,"

His eyes shot opened and that's when he was the masked figure standing before him, but wasn't really their at least not in the physical sense. He'd heard of force ghost before being that were had been trained in such as way that allowed them to appear almost anywhere at anytime. Jax found the skill to be fascinating, but the main question that he had right now was who was this man and why had he decided to make himself known to him. He was sure that he didn't recognize that armor from anywhere and to his knowledge he didn't know anyone that knew the trick of appearing as a force ghost.

Standing up to face the blue man "Who are you and why have you come here, and how do you know my name? It's not a common name that people would just pick up"

[member="Cedric Grayson"]

The armored knight watched in silence as Jax panicked to discern just who and what he might be. Cedric was well aware that appearing as a spirit was an exceedingly rare talent, and one he had not yet fully attained on his own even. A wiser man might have used such an appearance to immediately impart the import of his being there, but the Knight of Ession was far less serious than most when it came to such matters.

"My name is Cedric Grayson. I've come here because I've seen your face in the Well of Prophecy," he paused, his head tilting to the right as he started to speak again. "It's a tool deep in the Netherworld. One with enough understanding of the force can use it to see the future. I've been using it to divine those that might help me upon my return, and whom I may be able to help in return." He gestured toward the image of a lightsaber hanging from his hip.

"I'm a Jedi Master, and I've come to test your mettle, Jax: to see if you are worthy."

The force worked and mysterious ways that much he knew and he sensed no falsehoods in [member="Cedric Grayson"] words. If this was really a test to show that he was worthy than he was up to the task. He knew that the force was strong in him but he needed someone to help him unlock his full potential and that could only come from learning.

Bowing his head in respect to the Master "I'm not sure what you have planned what sort of test you have in mind, but I know I that I am more than ready, I'm skilled with a blade and no one doubts my connection to the force. I been studying the jedi of old and their teaching trying to improve myself and gain more knowledge"

He wouldn't say that his training in the ways of the Jedi up to this point had been anything close to traditional but what he had learned had prepared him for this day.

Young Jax was everything Cedric had hoped for upon seeing his face in the Well of Prophecy. An eager student with a desire to learn, and more importantly, one that seemed to have no doubts about the Jedi path. That much pleased the Jedi Master. He would be far easier to teach than some of the others that had been chosen.

"A few different ones, but we'll have to see which ones are worth being used,"Cedric mused rather cryptically. His ethereal form circled around the padawan as he took in the surroundings of Alderaan. Cedric had never visited the famous planet before, and he might have appreciated it more if he were here in a physical form. As things were, the beauty of the planet was obscured by the blended lens of reality and the empyrean that Cedric perceived the world through.

"Tell me what you know of the Force then Jax. What is its nature, where does it come from, what is the dichotomy between the Light and the Dark?" Cedric asked as he came to a halt, arms folding behind his back as he listened for the youth's answer.

The force, he put his hand to his chin in deep thought. The force was something that he pondered all the time it meant something different depending on your view of the the darkside and the lightside. Jax had always found himself called to the light it was a gateway to abilities that could help millions of people, sense things before they happen, and so many other things that had inspired him to become a Jedi.

"The force is the living energy that all life has, it connects us all together in some way and if you listen to it carefully it can guide you to things that you didn't even know that you wanted. A Jedi is an instrument of the force we follow it above all elese and we are selfless becuase there is no death there is only the force. Jedi are keepers of the peace but we are often called to fight the darkness because there must always be balance, a light that must meet the dark half way. To much of either could result in the destruction of the universe on a scale we can even imagine. The darside" he paused thinking about his true view of the dark and it's affects on those who answer it's call "Those who use the darkside are corrupted by it until they in effect kill who they used to be, they only seek more and more power."

Cedric listened in silence as Jax spoke on what he thought the Force was. The boy was more educated than most, meaning he had perhaps already been taught somewhat by other Jedi tutors. The Jedi Master found himself more or less agreeing with the boy's words. It was a simpler view on the state of things, but then one should not expect a padawan to expound upon the intrinsic complexities of the empyrean.

"A wise answer Jax," Cedric sounded pleased. "You're more or less correct. It is my personal belief that the Dark Side is an entirely unnatural creation. I believe that the force in its natural state if the Light, and that the Dark Side is a corruption brought on by the emotions of sentient beings. the Force, when untouched, reaches a balance that is neither corrupt nor wholly peaceful. The Dark Side is only ever introduced when sentient beings practice cruelty and acts of evil. Their actions pervert the Force, not dissimilar to a cancerous tumor slowly spreading its influence throughout the body. Followers of the dark are mentally ill and to be pitied. We must do everything in our power to save them from themselves, but if our efforts prove fruitless, then we must be prepared to end them justly so that they might not wreak death upon any others."

It was a view some Jedi considered radical, but then most of those Jedi were dead now. Cedric had survived because he stuck to his hardliner ideals, and thus far they had served him well. So far as he was concerned, he was completely above the Dark Side's influence, and he wished to teach his students to be so as well.

"You carry yourself like someone who has been trained to a degree. Whom was your teacher?"

[member="Jax Piell"]

[member="Cedric Grayson"] wasn't like any Jedi that he had read about or seen on holo, he was much more at ease with doing what must be done. He liked the man and his way of thinking Jax was a warrior at heart and in truth he wanted nothing more than to slay enemies on the battlefield in service to the ideals of the Jedi order. He had committed himself to the Republic because he believed that it was the vehicle that he could use in order to achieve his goals and so far that had proven to be true.

"I haven't had a teacher in a traditional sense what I learned about the Jedi I received from holos of anicent masters that have long since moved on. My duel skills I learned from a hand full of warriors that had stopped on Alderaan for rest, I'm a fast learner and have always taken pride in my skills with a lightsaber. I need a teacher to more or less help me unlock my full potential with the force if I could get my skills with purely the force up to my skill with a lightsaber I could help more people."
