Yildrim Mizragi

SPECIAL FEATURES
  • The bottom part of the vibro-weapon can either detach or telescope into the top. The first is the Kard mode, the second the Mizrakard mode. In the first, the weapon is essentially turned into a vibro-dagger, in the second it is a proper spear. When in Mizrakard mode, it screws in and then locks in place so it can't accidentally detach in battle. It does make it trickier to disengage though so it's not quick.
  • This detatching means the weapon's size can be either large or small depending on mode, with an average of average.
  • Easy to repair and maintain.
STRENGTHS
  • Versatile. The bottom part of the weapon can either detach or telescope into the top. Thus it can be used as a spear or in a manner akin to a short sword.
  • Reach. When in Mizrakard mode, the weapon is longer than a lightsabre or sword, and can keep an enemy at a distance.
  • Has all the penetrative abilities of a good vibro-weapon. As such the weapon is very sharp and can cut through many materials with relative ease.
WEAKNESSES
  • It is a spear in Mizrakard mode, which means that it becoms more awkward to employ if a foe can get up very close. This obviously does not apply if the bottom of the weapon is detached so it can be used as a vibro-dagger. However, the wielder is less likely to have the time to make the transition in the heat of melee combat.
  • Lacks the lightsabre's ability to sustain heavy cuts. For instance, the weapon cannot cut through a blast door such as Qui-Gonn did, nor can it be used to melt through a solid wall or vehicle plating.
  • Being a vibroweapon, it shares the standard vulnerability to electricity. Electric attacks are conducted by the blade and can electrocute the user... or even cause an explosion of the vibro-generator that causes its sharpness.
  • Ionic blasts can disable the generator and make it lose its edge entirely.
DESCRIPTION
The Qadiri of Tygara grew up in a long period of isolation and technological regression. This did not mean they were primitive or savages, contrary to what ignorant, bigoted Firemane lackeys and Eldorai would claim. Quite the opposite, it meant that they adapted to their home environment perfectly. With no higher technical knowledge available they used what they could on their own underdeveloped world. This meant that weaponry returned in large part to basic melee and ranged weapons which could be made and maintained.

For many Qadiri in Zhukathis, a spear became a common weapon. Armoured knights mounted on Yazgid - an aggressive, carnivorous lizard mount - were a common fixture of their armies, though the beasts could be as dangerous to the enemy as to their own rider. Thus spears, pikes and polearms became common for the Qadiri. In the days of yore, a longer version of a halberd would be used, and that long spears, almost pikes, would be combined with heavy shields. Yazgid, like horses, would not charge a wall of spears, but the big shields would provide protection from that and from arrows and even later musket balls.

Contact with the sky people - as the indigenous people called the humans of Firemane and the Eldorai - was a cultural shock for the natives. Suddenly they had been thrust onto a far bigger stage than they could have anticipated, and had to defend themselves from foreigners who claimed to come as benevolent bringers of knowledge, but in truth sought to exploit them and their resources. This also necessitated adapting their technology as best as they could so that they were able to defend themselves.

The Yildrim Mizragi is one such adaptation, combining the old with the new. It is a modern vibrospear the Qadiri can use in close confines to butcher their enemies. It is shorter than their old spears, but longer than a sword or a lightsabre. Traditionally, it is used as a vibro-spear, but the bottom part of the weapon can also be detached, enabling the wielder to employ it in a manner akin to a vibro-dagger. The weapon has also been adopted by the Shadow Knights, a group of exiles from Kaeshana and Tygara, who further refined its concept and appreciated its versatility. It would serve its wielders well in the great war against Firemane and its collaborators.
