Arbitrator
Hello!
I'm looking for characters to stand trial and those that would like to play witness to their deeds (for or against).
Sssar represents a militant 'lawful neutral' personality within the Galactic Alliance, first serving as Senator of Eclipse to more recently serving within the Alliance's Ministry of Justice. He is a severe, cold, individual with no love for the criminal element of galactic society. Law and the Order that it preserves are of paramount importance to him as a character.
This does not mean a character will be found guilty just because they stand before him as an accused.
In my opinion this is a unique opportunity for a variety of characters. The only pre-requisite as far as story goes are as follows:
1) Your character must be accused of some crime against the Galactic Alliance
2) Your character must have had the ability to be captured by a NPC group of Sector Rangers/Federal Marshals/SIA Agents/Military Police/Jedi (take your pick) - these may be NPCs or PCs that is totally up to you
Why the Perquisite?
Prereq 1: This prereq allows this thread to be possible. Without a crime committed against the Galactic Alliance my character does not have the ability to preside over their trial. To commit an act against the Galactic Alliance means a character has either acted violently against the Alliance or its operatives/citizens or that a character has committed multiple crimes against the laws of at least 2 Alliance planets.
Prereq 2: This prereq establishes that your character has either been forcibly or voluntarily taken into custody, and cannot simply break free of the Alliance's grasp while the court proceedings are taking place. A dynamic in play where the accused can simply overpower any form of internal security renders much of the feel for such a scene of vulnerability moot. This does not mean your character cannot escape confinement or prisoner transport.
Defense & Prosecution
Players are free to NPC their own defense or take it upon their characters to defend themselves or invite a friend to play as their attorney. Prosecutor type characters are welcome to join this thread of course. Lacking any of the above options I will work with interested players to NPC their defense or their prosecution if they desire.
Level of Detail
There will be an average level of procedural detail followed. However, this will not be a court simulation in so much that there will be considerable rules lawyering on decorum or the like. Think the Ace Attorney setting, or for those of you who've played Megaman Netwarrior 6 the judicial district arc. Simply put we will be using broad generalizations in many aspects but when it comes to the order of cross examination, presentation of evidence, basic motions, and etiquette my character will be enforcing a certain flow.
Example: Outside of stated 'Objections' a character should not seek to interrupt another mid testimony. And yes, you absolutely may have your character yell OBJECTION!
