You're Not Alone

Jedi.

Protectors.

Peacekeepers.

The usual stuff.

Liliane looked down the rock she was sitting on, looked into the pond of water. The reflection on the water looked so still, so pure and so innocent. No matter what happened, the pond would never turn into a sea full of stormy anger. It would stay that way.

Was that how the Jedi were supposed to act? Never turn into storm-riddled seas, but keep calm and stay the innocent ponds they were destined to be?

Jedi philosophy was a difficult matter, that was for sure. And that's exactly why the girl left that work to those who really had the time and desire to ponder on these matters. She didn't have either of these things, so it was settled -- she would not be thinking about the deeper insights of the Jedi.

There was too much action, too much war and too much trouble in the galaxy, so there was no time for useless sitting around. Liliane was one of those people who thought passive Jedi were bad Jedi. And no, Consulars were OK. But if the whole Order sat around, doing nothing useful, there was no way she could see the Order as something more than inefficient.

Judah.

The name of the hopeful Jedi Padawan she was going to tutor next.

Coming back from a time off and being handed a pupil right away seemed a little bit too hasty, but oddly, that was exactly the way Liliane would have wanted it.

He was supposed to arrive soon. She had never met the boy, neither had he met her. It was a miracle she knew the name of the kid. She just hoped Judah would know her name as well.

Because what use would be of her title if it didn't make members of the Order know her.

Judah was tired of bouncing around from teacher to teacher. His father had trained him, his aunt had taught him, others among the silver order had trained him, and the padawan who was in his early twenties now found himself returning to the Galactic Alliance. His skills were basic. Things that he learned to control when he was younger were ready to be taken to new levels. However, there were still skills he needed before he would feel ready to become a full Jedi Knight.

The Corellian born Jedi was never one to be idle. Hopefully his new master thought the same. Things would be a rocky if they couldn't agree on staying active. Philosophy wasn't his forte. Mindless pondering on the meaning of things never changed the world. Judah wanted to change the world.

His thoughts were taken captive by the serenity of the world around him. The ponds, trees, rocky sculptures, spoke to him of the home he missed. The Lesan compound on Coronet Peak had been similar to the world he was now on. Calm breaths took in the familiar scent of the outdoors as his mind found its center. She was supposed to be nearby. Reaching out with the force he isolated her presence.

She was on a rock, staring at a pond. It had to be her because no one else was around. Soft steps carried him over to the rock where he stopped. Looking at the woman who seemed to be his age, he smiled.

"Marshall Lancaster?"

"It is I," the woman, dressed in a dark casual dress, gentle breeze waving her long wavy blonde hair around, replied to the voice of a male. She turned her face towards the man in no hurry whatsoever. Because there was no hurry to be needed.

With a slow elegant motion, she rose to her feet, standing about twenty centimetres shorter than the man. She was a short woman, that was true. But on battlefield, that was by no means a disadvantage. It was actually the exact opposite -- the shorter she was, the more agile she could be. However, time had also formed the woman into a more elegant lady during her personal life.

"Judah, I believe?" she asked, waiting for the answer. After the answer, she would mutter a simple, "Let's stick to first names and no fancy titles, shall we?"

She couldn't really tell a single time when she would go by calling her students by formal titles or letting those initiates call her by such names. There was just no use of that. Talking to higher ranking people, though, and those who were not her students, she had no problem using rank titles.

"Quite a nice breeze today, don't you agree? So fresh and amusing, I feel like."

Socialisation and building up a solid foundation on a relationship level was crucial to having a successful mastership, Liliane had found out. So there was still no hurry to jump right into action.

"First names, sure," Judah remarked as he took in how elegant she seemed to be.

The fact she didn't want to stick to formalities with the way she behaved was interesting to JJ. He shrugged it off though because everyone was different. Being Corellian he had no problem ignoring the formal titles, he never had with any of his teachers before. Mostly it had been his Aunt Bri that taught him, but for the first time in a long time, his life was his.

"You'll have to call me JJ though. Judah is what everyone calls my dad." It didn't hurt to tell her that.

As the breeze blew, Judah was once again reminded of home. A slightly sad expression washed over his face as he nodded. "A lot like home around here. At least this spot is. Did you ever make it to Corellia before it fractured?"

It seemed it was time to get to know the other. Judah loved this part. Having a master meant there was a bond, and that had to form naturally. Judah had been alone for so long that he missed the bond which one could have with a teacher, a friend, or even a lover. JJ had none of those bonds in his life, and to even have one of them back, it was a step forward from the recent darkness which he had received help overcoming.

"JJ, huh? I'll keep that in mind," the woman said. She didn't consider calling the boy by his nickname unusual. After all, she had been called by her nickname for almost all of her life, by absolutely everybody, and that changed only after she was promoted to Jedi Marshall. Marshall Lilin didn't quite have the same ring to it.

She looked over to the lake again now, looking over the silent subtle mist over the body of water.

"Corellia... I can't remember ever visiting it. Maybe I did, but I just can't recall it. But I hear it was a fantastic planet, wasn't it?" She was rather sure the planet was a sensitive subject for all of those who'd called it their home. After all, Corellians usually had the most sense of nationalism in the galaxy. And being proud of their heritage was truly not wrong at all, because it really was a magnificent world which had a lot of influence.

She looked into JJ's eyes for a moment before letting her eyes casually examine the rest of the boy. No matter what she saw in him, she would be able to turn him into a spectacular duelist. Not that she herself would have been stunning on the battlefield and even better at teaching others how to fight, but she could see potential in the Lesan. And that was all she needed.

[ooc: I totally thought I was waiting on you... my bad]

"It was. My parents had a compound in the foothills of Coronet Peak. That's where my training first began, until my father ran off to join the Army of Light, which led him to the Silver Jedi, though I found my way to them, meeting an Antarian Ranger led me here. I've seen the galaxy, and no planet has matches the beauty of Corellia to me."

Others would have a different opinion. Judah's was his own. It felt odd that her eyes were examining him. JJ was more self conscious these days as it had been a while since any woman had looked him over. The padawan had misunderstood his own feelings before and as a result it had cost him. Judah had even nearly given in to the darknes that chewed at him for the death of a Sith at his own hands. It seemed odd, but Judah almost felt defensive.

"What are you looking for?"
