Setzi Lunelle

Location: Aegis Base, Ossus
Like the Aegis Base on Ossus itself, Setzi’s body was in tatters, and though her mind was also weakened from both the poison of a Sith Lord's Amphistaff and the Darkside of the Force, her spirit felt lifted somehow.

She was damned sure she would go into that battle as a Jedi and emerge from it a Sith, or worse his or her thrall.

But the Jedi Knight had not. Setzi was filled with something she had not felt in such a long time.

Pride.

Well, pride and snake venom at least.

Flat on a medical cot in the medbay of the Silver Jedi base, a structure which suffered far worse damage than the countryside or Ossus City, Setzi was as calm as a person who had only twenty-two hours to live could be.

“I’m not sure what you have sitting around as an antidote for snake bites, but I could probably use it right now. Along with a shot of Corellian whiskey,” joked Setzi in a weak voice. She was also battered and bruised in a few different places, but the worst injury was the bite, which swelled and burned as her natural immune system fought the toxins.

“I could always try to heal myself, but that has to be a last resort. It’s darkside healing…”

The Jedi had been so close to falling already that she did not want to delve into the blacker side of magic if she could help it. As she watched Darren move around the medby, she absentmindedly braided her long brown locks into a single loose braid which fell down off the side of the cot.

The darkness lays ever near the light.
Darren burst into the room, carrying Setzi in his arms. He had had a hectic day to say the least - between the Chaos of the invasion launched by the First Order, his brief duel with a Sith Lord, and the woman that his own father told him that he needed being bitten by a hydra staff. His father had told him many things that day that were unexpected to him - he helped him unleash his full power and he told him that he needed the woman that he carried in his arms.

"Get me a karking cot. Right NOW!" Who was he to question his Father's logic? Of course Darren had contemplated his future before, and perhaps Setzi was in his future. To be honest - she had been on his mind more than he'd care to admit.

The Zabrak placed her body down a cot that had been brought to him and rushed across the room towards the med cabinet. "What the hell am I looking for here?"

"Lieutenant-Commander, you need to calm down."

Darren nodded, stepping back and letting the trained doctors do what they were trained to do. He took his seat beside Setzi's cot, smiling at her comments then taking her hand.

"I'm glad you didn't lose your sense of humour. And no, you're not going to fall - not while I'm here."

Setzi Lunelle

Searching for Eleos's Altar
The Zabrak seemed much younger than Setzi, but there was also a courageous maturity about him. Besides it always more difficult to tell the age of other species. She didn’t know what to look for. Did their horns grow thicker? More tattoos? Or did the Iridonian natives retain their smooth skin for most of their lives?

And it seemed improper to even think of these things as she lay there, but the fact that she was pondering if she had some kind of crush on the alien ranger was a good sign. Wasn’t it? Or was it the poison addling her brain?

She’d not thought much of love or whimsical pursuits since being out of stasis, to mired down in the quicksand of guilt, regret and self-flagellation.

After a frantic search, Darren finally left the doctors to continue researching the antidote. It wasn’t as though amphistaffs were that prevalent in Sith warfare. In fact, it had been a year since she’d encountered one.

“It’s called a Biotoxin Drill,” she warbled in a tired, ragged voice. That would prevent her from dying, but Setzi wasn’t sure of any long term effects of the venom. And did that mean it had to drill inside the snakebite? She grit her teeth just thinking about the agony of that. But still the Rogue Jedi smiled back at the Zabrak, quite happy to take his hand. For all of her bravado, she was terrified so much that a SJO medic, checking her vitals, commented, “Her heart rate’s high. We may need to give her a sedative in a few minutes.”

“Darren, I want to thank you for coming to save me. I was in bad shape mentally. And of course now all of this. I just… you don’t even know how grateful I am.”
