Axxila was an odd world. Coruscant but inside out was the way travellers referred to it. The city wide planet was essentially a great big bubble with buildings extending from the floor of the cavern and from its celings. It made it feel very claustrophobic for some, and secure for others. Essac cared for none of this. It was simply his home.
It had been a rather profitable morning so far. He had managed to swipe a couple of credit chits, and a coupon for half off at the local Bantha steak joint, but that he had found discarded in a trash can. Still, he had enough for a decent room, and a half way decent hole in the wall place. He just needed something to add to his growing pool of money that he was saving to get off world. So he waited, sitting with his back to a cold stone pillar in an alcove to the side of a Alderaani bakery.
How about...no...hand in their pockets...
What about...no...they are walking to fast...
His eyes darted from person to person, looking for someone that was simply wandering. Wandering people tended to stop and browse, they were more likely to not pay attention and accidentally bump into someone, or at least believe that they had.
Her...yes...her...
A girl, about his age perhaps, was taking her time as she walked down the street. Essac jumped to his feet and brushed himself off. With a wave to the baker, who simply looked incredulously at the lariken, Essac was off down the road with a smile on his face. As the girl approached, Essac's fingers twitched a little. it was almost time...almost there.
Bump
"So sorry," he said to the girl, "I must have my head in the clouds."
Having never seen clouds in person, he thought it an odd expression to pull out at that moment.
"Forgive me," he said, before turning about and moving away at a quicker pace.
Rounding a corner, Essac broke into a sprint. He ran as fast as he could before clambering over a fence, and running along an alley. Finally, he found a seat on an upturned bucket beside a compactor. It was then, and only then, that he took time to examine his score. He opened the pouch and gazed inside.
