OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
SETTING INFORMATION
  • Structure Name: Yumfla Chapterhouse, Church of the Force
  • Classification: Temple/Community Center
  • Location: Yumfla, Susevfi
  • Affiliation: Church of the Force (Outer Rim Sects)
  • Accessibility: Publically accessible, well known
  • Description: A renovated collection of buildings tied together, once some small warehouses and homes, now interlinked, and with greenspaces built onto the outside and tops of the buildings, as well being built around a tree that had grown up in an empty lot, with the remaining greenspace being preserved with picnic tables and others sitting areas.
POINTS OF INTEREST
  • Foyer: The main entrance to the chapter-house, it's a small area with an information desk, a bulletin board, comfortable chairs, and a wide variety of informational packets on a wide array of subjects- Church of the Force, Jedi, local politics, job postings, etc. A general sort of gathering space. Open 24/7 and staffed by a protocol droid or a Church of the Force volunteer.
  • Hostelry: One of the sturdier parts of the chapterhouse, constructed out of an old duracrete grain silo renovated into rooms with their own refresher units, kitchenettes, bunks, and storage lockers. The rooms are a mix of individual, duo, and quad rooms. Inhabitants can decorate their own rooms, especially if they stay for a long time. They are available to travelers, houseless individuals, teens who need a safe space away from their families for whatever reason, community newcomers, and so on. Several are also held for the itinerant members of the Jedi Pilgrims, Church of the Force, and so on who may be traveling through or staying for longer periods of time.
  • Community Room: The main area of the chapter-house, the foyer is the wide, central platform surrounded by transparisteel walls with artificial wooden floors. It's open floor space, but chairs and tables are stored in the ceiling and can be retracted or deployed at will. Can be booked over the holonet for community events. It can seat up to one hundred people.
  • Picnic Area: The most frequently used part of the Chapterhouse is the lot at the base of the chapterhouse. A house once stood here, but it was abandoned and fell apart, eventually being destroyed by the tree growing up through the middle. When the Church of the Force purchased the land, they cleared the debris, reseeded the property, and installed numerous chairs, tables, water fountains, and cleaning stations. The area is shaded by the community room directly above them, as well as the tree itself. It is open to the public, well-lit, and overseen by the Church of the Force and local community, making it a relatively safe spot for kids and teens, but it is frequently used by families, local businesses, and Jedi Pilgrims/Light Hand members, giving them and the community a chance to mingle.
  • Kitchen: An industrial-grade kitchen, capable of cooking meals for up to three hundred people. The storage is for communal items, overseen by a kitchen droid who assists with larger meals, hygiene, and other essentials. It is set off to the side of the community room and is accessible from both the public areas and the hostelry.
  • Rooftop Meditation Garden: The top of the community room area has been transformed into a meditation garden. There is a small lip around the edge of the area, with the tree at the center. The ground has been filled with sand, stone patterns, and small plants carefully designed to help with relaxation and focus. The Jedi and Light Hand often use this as training and meditation grounds. Many of the designs are based on a combination of triangles and circles.

SECURITY
Low- Security Cameras and standard door locks

HISTORICAL INFORMATION

Despite the general economic growth of Yumfla through the various decades, parts of the city are still older and more on the rundown side. Infrastructure changes, and the movement of different businesses all contribute to the transitory nature of the city. This particular block had been part of the city center early in the moon's colonization process, combining agricultural businesses with multi-family residential districts. In time, however, agriculture moved further away from the city and into hydroponics along the ocean and these areas became abandoned and run down. At some point, a tree began growing next to an old silo through an old house, and the area was abandoned.

After many, many years, the Church of the Force developed into a larger organization that looked to establish itself more connections and services for the local community. Seeing the abandoned lots, with the crumbling houses, still structurally sound silo, and the old tree, they realized this was the perfect place.

The neighborhood was not necessarily the nicest, which helped them raise money more easily to purchase and renovate the lots. Much of the design was inspired by the work of Jedi Master Coren Starchaser Coren Starchaser on the planet Kattada, which prompted them to turn the exterior of the structure into a garden space for herbs, fruits, and vegetables, as well as hanging gardens below the community room that is free to share.

With the establishment of the RImward Trade League and their partnerships with the Church of the Force, the chapterhouse became a bit more bustling and more of a focal point for regional politics, as Jedi Pilgrims and others consulted with the Council to work alongside the government services, acting as a crucial bridge in many ways between the people of Yumfla and the League council.
