A step up from their YX-48 Industrial Materials Freighter, the YX-300 was a large and boxy freight vessel was designed by the Corellian-based Kyprin Engineering Coproration. Equipped with more than reliable power supply, robust shields, and modest weaponry for a civilian freight hauler, the incredibly modular YX-300 was the pride of any private prospecting or freight business. Capable of hauling several times more freight than the YX-48 and refine materials on a larger scale, the vessel required an experienced and dedicated crew to get the most out of its fabrication bays and storage. Along the spar of the vessel that connected the bridge to the rest of the vessel were magnetic freight locks as well as under its belly. The YX-300 also sported a modest hangar which held ample room for at least a full squadron of fighters or several squadrons of support craft such as small freight vehicles, shuttles, and light freighters. Along its stern the YX-300 also housed a YV-350 light freighter. The small ship was originally designed as part of the YX-300's original design. Due to the vessel's large size it made it difficult to house or land at most starports and often times even if one could they could incur heavy costs. To counteract that the small, circular vessel was designed and attached stock to the 300 for captains and crew to move supplies, freight, or anything else down to the surface. It also made for a reliable escape vessel even though the freighter itself came with ample escape pods.
Six massive engine housings propelled the YX-300 through the stars at high speeds, reliably moving supplies and freight from place to place. The vessel's refining and fabrication bays also made the vessel a cheap alternative to fleet tenders. Able to store dozens of construction vessels and with the ability to fabricate most parts needed for starfighter repair. All of this was powered by its large decentralized reactor and while the power was intended for use into the vessel's powerful deflector shields, engines, and on board facilities, it could be easily converted to power capital scale weaponry. The YX-300 came stock with a quartet of single-barreled turbolasers, quad laser cannon turrets, and laser cannons to defend itself against pirates and brigands. While their stock power output was well within civilian ranges according to Corellian law, because of the way the decentralized power was distributed throughout the ship power could be taken from its shields or engines or any other un-used systems to give the vessel an illegal boost. This design "flaw" was often capitalized on by cheeky freighter captains and downright exploited by small pirate gangs who started using the vessel to pass as a civilian freighter crew when flying through civilized space. That being said, the YX-300 was incredibly modular. From the spar to the YV-350 pre-installed, almost everything could be swapped out with legal and illegal aftermarket parts.
