BIOGRAPHY:
Zakar Vass was born 825 ABY on the world of Haruun Kal- a harsh, inhospitable world covered in a sea of toxic gases brought to the surface by volcanic activity, and broken by mountains and plateaus. Only the landmasses that reached into the atmosphere could support life, and thus it was high in these mountains and plateaus where native life evolved. It was in this harsh, jungle environment, the Korunnai- a race of Force-sensitive near Humans- thrived.
The Korunnai organized themselves into clans- or Ghôsh. Of them, Ghôsh Vass stood atop them all. Powerful and cunning, the Vass eschewed the nomadic livelihoods of the Ghôsh, seating themselves at the capital, Pelek Baw. There, they acted as protectors, gaining the admiration and gratitude of the Balawai- or the "outlanders", the immigrants who managed to tame Haruun Kal enough to thrive. Through the patronage of the Balawai, the Vass amassed a great amount of land and wealth. Additionally, they often dealt with the One Sith, offering their warrior's services in exchange for technology and arms to forcibly expand their reach across Haruun Kal and "civilize" the planet. This exchange often entailed allowing their most promising of clanbrothers- or dôshallai- to be fostered in the household of a Sith Lord, receiving first-class education and training, and deployed to whichever far-flung planet needed to be subjugated. At the conclusion of the tour, the Vass- now a fully trained dôshalo- would return to Haruun Kal in glory, though a few chose live away from the Ghôsh.
Zakar was fostered by the Sith Lord Lywn on Korriban. A Sith Alchemist, Lywn was viewed as eccentric by the Sith's standard, pushing Zakar mentally just as much as he did physically. He drilled him in matters of state, history, the arts, and current events in addition to grueling lightsaber sessions. Consequently, Zakar developed an appetite for knowledge. Perhaps to round out his investment, upon completion of his training at the Sith Academy, Lord Lywn allowed him to enroll him in University at Coruscant.
With a modest stipend to cover his expenses, Zakar fully immersed in the bustling ecumenopolis. Between his studies, adventures in the notorious undercity, and the courtship of Khitha- daughter of a First Order officer- at the Royal Imperial Academy, he kept a bustling social calendar. Within three short years, Zakar had concluded his studies, and had been accepted to the University's doctoral program when duty called.
While the Galactic Republic had been teetering towards the edge of irrelevance, the Galactic Alliance- a hodge podge of factions- had launched a number of offensives, putting the One Sith on their heels. Zakar was pressed into service. For five years served in a number of fronts, fighting against the Alliance, the Jedi, the Mandalorians, and even the Omega Sith. With the collapse of the One Sith, Ghôsh Vass declared all agreements voided, and called the dôshallai spread across the galaxy home. Zakar declined to return to Haruun Kal.
After returning to Coruscant and completing his doctorate, Zakar married his University sweetheart Khitha. While she served in the First Order- Galactic Alliance war, he had happily embraced retirement from active duty, teaching Pre-Gulag History at the University of Avalonia. With the cessation of hostilities, Khitha was set to retire, with a child- a healthy boy, Kase- coming soon after.
Then the Fall occurred. In the chaos of rampage of the Ssi-Ruu and the sundering of Dosuun, Khitha was KIA. Heartbroken, Zakar took a leave of absence to mourn. Shortly thereafter, a representative of the Dosuun Hegemony attempted to strong-arm him into service for the Sith Empire client state. "We can take you, or we can take the boy", the man sneered. Forced into a corner, Zakar slew the man and fled Dosuun, returning to Haruun Kal to entrust Kase to the stewardship and protection of his Ghôsh before returning to take the fight to the Hegemony, taking up the saber once more.
Zakar spent the next four years in a resistance cell, splitting time between taking part in raids, and setting up a ramshackle school to ensure the children suffering under the rule of the Hegemony had access to a quality education. With the triumph over the Ssi-Ruuk invaders, and the expungement of the Dosuun Hegemony, Zakar sent for Kase to return to his side. Set to resume his teaching duties at the University, he was pleasantly surprised when he was informed that he had been appointed to the Moff Council to be Minister of Education.
While managing his portfolio as Moff, Zakar lectures at the University on occasion, acts as a part-time lightsaber instructor for the First Imperial Knights Novices at Fort Excelsior, and wrangles his son, Kase.
