Born to a wealthy family on Coruscant, Zana Jaireck appeared to have it made. Family tutors, the best schools and everything she could ever want. A pity that it was all so immeasurably dull. Her early years were peppered with attempts to escape her comfortable surroundings and explore her surroundings, in a way that did not appeal to the designs of her family. Placed in comparison with her siblings (and how they loved to compare her every flaw against her perfect brothers and sisters), Zana was too wilful, to crude and too full of low-cunning. Her tutors would write her off as bright, but unwilling to put in the serious effort to be something special. She nearly burned down the family home when she was introduced to a pimply teenager she was expected to be courted by.
Fortunately for all involved, Zana's Force-sensitivity was discovered before she could create messier ways to call off her family's designs. It was appropriate for all involved. The family could let her go with a good excuse (that wouldn't embarrass them too much in the social circles) and Zana could escape to a life with more adventure, meaning and far less backstabbing. And her potential suitor? Well, who cares what he thought.
Zana trained with the Jedi Order, serving with distinction as a Padawan and later as a Knight. Though she had craved the adventure and exploration that the life of a Jedi could give, she was still a creature of comfort and living in the Temple, amongst the others, could be tough at times. Caught between the two worlds of her privileged upbringing and the more monastic demands of the Order, Zana never quite found her place as some of her peers did. If this bothered her, she didn't let it show too much. She always said she worked better on her own.
As a Knight, she was known for her practicality above everything else. The Force was an ally and a gift in Zana's opinion, one that should be used sparingly. What use was launching into a situation with a lightsaber blazing, flinging rocks and shifting things around, if you could solve things with a listen, a few quiet words and a glare in the right eyes? That wasn't to say she was a coward. If the time came for a real fight, then she'd be there with the others, saber ignited and standing proud and ready.
She continued to hone her skills and talents, serving the Order in different parts of the Galaxy and seeking to learn from others. Her command of the Force grew to a decent extent. She was always more interested in the theoretical sense of things rather than the excessive application, however.
Now, as she approaches her later years, Zana has achieved the rank of Jedi Master. After a life tinged with service, learning and regret, she feels the burden of expectation on her now as the Galaxy slides ever deeper into turmoil.

Zana is a somewhat-sturdy woman of advanced age. Still physically fit, Zana is nowhere close to being out of action and would verbally butcher you for suggested anything like that. There are definite signs of her advancing age, though. Wrinkles and crows feet, the marks of a life worth living. The exception is around her thin lips, where she rarely smiles.
She wears her reddish-brown hair short for conveniences sake. Long hair may look lovely and luscious but she has a job to do, thank you very much, one that doesn't require the distraction of long hair, blocking her vision and getting tangled up in things. Her dark eyes look like they could bore deep into you, as well as asteroids, space ships and several smaller planetoids.
Zana's usual clothing style is more the smart attire of a busy Coruscant businesswoman than of a Jedi, preferring to dress in stylish, dark coats, pantsuits and somewhat expensive blouses. A quirk of her upbringing, as well as her utter aversion to anything that looks like a dirty robe.

Strengths and Weaknesses
+ Knowledgeable Zana is an experienced Jedi who has learned a great deal of things in her time. She has trained and fought with her saber countless times. She has learned Force techniques from some of the most powerful and well-attuned people in the Galaxy. She has seen wars start and end, governments rise and fall and worlds fill and empty. She has a lot of interesting things to share.
+ Practical If you're the kind of person who likes to get things done, Zana is your woman. Practical to the point of near-ruthlessness, her sharp focus and determined attitude towards solving problems and dealing with the situation at hand relies less on the Force and more on her wits. This makes her a good investigator, mediator and conflict-ender. If she can manage to keep the snide insult out of her mouth.
~ Regrets Zana has lived a long life, filled with danger, arguments and relationships. During that time, she's had to sacrifice more than one part of her life to continue with the Order. She's seen plenty of friends fall. What other things has she hidden away in her memory?
- Snobby Zana was raised in a wealthy family and whilst she never really fit with their expectations, she still carries some of that privileged snobbiness about her. This can be seen most clearly in her clothing and her attitude to food. Whilst many Jedi would be happy with robes and simple fare, Zana prefers something a little more smart, better-designed and fitting for the modern older woman. And what is the point of expending all that energy to save people if you can't enjoy a good restaurant or two in your time?
- Curt Zana does not mince words. If you're doing something wrong, she will only be too happy to tell you. Usually in the sharpest words she can manage. Her attitude has made her more than one enemy before, and that's before you even get out of the Order.
