Intent: A fast, well-armored combat vehicle for the BlackLight clan, and possibly select Silver Jedi forces later.

Model: Zatten Black Armored Mobilizer (Z-BAM)

Affiliation: The BlackLight Clan, Silver Jedi

Modularity: Standard repulsorlift can be upgraded, and torque on the legs can be maximized on user's preference.

Production: Limited

Material: Durasteel (I need some suggestions on good plating for something like this)

Role: Mobile Gunnery Post and Heavy Scout Walker

Propulsion: Bipedal, with repulsorlift for long or high jumps.

Top Speed: (Again, need help here)

Armaments: 1 long-range laser cannon, 2 heavy scatterguns, plus mountings for most military-grade rifles.

Squadron Count: 8

Passenger Capacity: 4, with full gear, 6 or 8 with minimal gear.

Cargo Capacity: Internal cargo hold has a 100 kg capacity, with external storage space for ~ 50kg

Description: The Z-BAM was Zatten's first workable vehicle design. It runs at top speed on two legs, tuned for pretty high torque right from the factory. When it hits an obstacle, a repulsor engine can be activated for a short jump... And 'short jump' means it goes careening through the air for about fifteen seconds, with minimal control, and relies on the exceptionally strong shock absorption of the legs to not smash to tiny bits.

Weaponry-wise, the BAM carries a long-range gun, and a couple of short-range scatterguns. Mid-range protection is taken care of by the passengers, who have several mountings for military-grade rifles at their disposal. This allows snipers to have a mobile, relatively safe, nest to aim and fire from.

So, I sort of need somebody to give me feedback and a bit of help with this.

[member="Zatten Black"], How do you intend to fit that many people onto one vehicle? I have seen speeder bikes larger than that and fit only one or two people. So where will you be fitting in almost 10 people? (Pilot, Gunner, and possibility of 8 others) To go along with that, How much storage do you think you have? If a speeder bike can only fit about one to three people with close to the same dementions, How can you fit up to 150kgs (may I add that your armor at 20 kgs, would mean you are carrying about almost eight sets of that armor as well as the people) Speeders are advanced in technology, but not by that much.

Most bipedal vehicles run about a walking speed (2-3 miles per hour) So your smaller vehicle may be able to go up to double or even triple that, but with the weight being that of the same as an AT-ST from canon, (that means filled cargo and carrying all those people, as well as the weight of the vehicle itself) Your rear end would be making a new grand canyon wherever it went. (Your rear is sliding on the ground, you are too heavy) As well, Heavy armor means it would be a tank. Small cars weight about a ton to two tons. You would moreso be around the weight of 17 tons because of heavy armor, all the weapons you have, and if you are carrying gear with you. It's way overweight as well as top heavy. Even the slightest kick to the feet, or a mishap in a step, you could fall over and would be sitting ducks.


As well, with all of those weapons on it, You may as well mention that it is almost a walking tank. Way too many weapons for a simple transport. Now if it was built just for snipers to be in, Then why have all the larger weapons on it? With 8 people, surely you could just let them pick them off with whatever weapons they have?

I am asking these questions to make sure that you get something you want, while being reasonable. I mean no disrespect to you or your creations. I just want to make sure that you are knowledgeable enough to understand what I am saying and referencing. I am here to help you. Not hinder you.

I don't want to get rid of much of the cargo capacity, 'cos that would defeat the purpose of it being a long-range vehicle. It needs to be able to actually take the pilot far away.

Totally not getting rid of the plating, but is there something lighter that's as strong as durasteel? That's what I was really thinking of.

Also, I feel like maybe I should upsize it... To like the size of an AT-PT or something.

And why are we bringing physics into this? 50% of everything in canon would simply fall apart if we were thinking about physics

Not sure what you are getting at here. Are you asking me if that would be enough? As a said, Simple and straightforward things make it so much easier for judges or other people to read your submissions.

As a Speeder that is heavily armored, its likely not to be used in a Public setting. So if the purpose was to simply carry people or cargo, then I would be fine with it. However, as it carries both, as well as the weapons you have, With heavy armor that looks thicker than even some starship hulls, I would almost label this as a Small transportation/Cargo huller with weapons on it other than a large canon about to blow you into the oblivion. So with that in mind, I would say the lowest for the cargo would be around 100kgs. (Meaning you can carry a lot of ammo or gear, OR carry about another two people But not both.)

Durasteel is used because it is easily found and durable. and can stand the physical weight of things such as this. So what you could do is have the frame made out of durasteel, and have light armor that rests on top of the frame in layers, effectively creating heavy armor through the process of using a few light ones, out of Armorplast. Its a Ceramic, but durable form of Durasteel that is a little bit more expensive.

You would actually be surprised how wrong that statement is. About the only thing that is handwaved in Starwars (Considering it's out of the possibility of even being there,) Is the force, Lightsabers, the enchantments and the colonization of Trillions of planets that have no possible way of living on them. Air speeders are being built with prototype technology as we speak, as well, we have Jets that can hover in the air (F-35 Raptor Prototype from the US Air force) and there is a chance for lightsabers as the collection of Plasma into a beam (Laser) can actually cut things (Small scale laboratories that cut thin sheets of metal because if it were to get out of hand it would blow up the machine that controls it. I have seen them in use as one of them is on the university that I live not a 10 minute drive from has one.) As well, the blasters or "Partical beam controlled weapons" or "Ray guns" are being worked on as well from "Rumors" leaked from the US army.

And it's really not meant as a public-use thing. It's a piece of tech for the Vinecats and a few other members of the order who want one. My idea was like a long-range version of the AT-PT. Something for Jedi to use on really long missions, where a speeder or something just wouldn't do.
