STRENGTHS

• As an improvement over the Excava-class, the Zeltennia-class mining corvette has improved armor and shielding systems, making use of the Golem advanced hull plating and Kirin Shielding System to give it incredibly high defenses. The ship is also equipped with a few point defense emplacements to protect it from potential impacts while mining in asteroid fields or other areas where debris could be a danger.
• Another improvement over the Excava-class is the expanded hangar space for the Zeltennia, now able to fit a squadron of gas skimmers and a squadron of mineral extractors as the base loadout for the ship when purchased from Aurora.
• A massive improvement over the previous ship is the expanded mining and cargo systems, with the Zeltennia sporting two plasma drills in addition to ten tri-beam mining lasers along with four tractor beam projectors and two carbon-freezing chambers. Additionally, the ship's storage capacity was expanded for both its ore and gas storage at the cost of any potential passenger capacity.

WEAKNESSES

• Zeltennia-class mining corvettes are not designed for combat, only having a single dual Valefor laser cannon for defense against attackers. They rely almost exclusively on its armor and shielding systems if attacked, along with point defense emplacements.
• If a Syldra's internal Seoularian crystal is shattered, it cannot connect to the telepathic network until a new crystal is installed and attuned to the key and anchor crystals that system needs to be connected to. In addition, telepathic messages sent through the network cannot be received by any other system except another Syldra, potentially limiting the capabilities of this feature.
• Due to the shield emitters of the Kirin being scattered across the hull, if parts of the hull become damaged, gaps can form in the overlapping shield layers of the vessel. In addition, as the sensors for the Divine Eyes system are also scattered along the hull, damage to it can knock out and create blind spots in the passive sensor array.

DESCRIPTION

Developed as part of Aurora Industries' Highwind Program, the Zeltennia-class Mining Corvette was designed to be an upgrade and replacement for the company's previous Excava-class mining corvette. The design team went with a different chassis and hull as the Excava, developing something that would seem similar to the Bevelle-class light freighter and Besaid-class medium freighter, and utilizing the company's Golem Advanced hull plating for improved armoring. The ship was also equipped with the Kirin Shielding System for improved shielding over the previous model.

Interior designs for the ship resulted in increased storage capacity for the Zeltennia over the Excava for the materials they are mining, while also allowing the design team to expand the hangar bay to support a squadron of gas skimmers and a squadron of mineral extractors at the cost of any passenger capacity. The Zeltennia-class was also equipped with more tractor beam projectors and two plasma drills in addition to ten tri-beam mining lasers for the ship to have a faster means of mining out asteroids or other sites. The ship was also equipped with both a Syldra Communications Suite and a Divine Eyes sensor and electronics network for better communications and sensors when in hazardous zones.
