- Primary Source: Isotope-5A Micro-reactor
- Manufacturer: Freebirds Industries, Confederacy of Independent Systems
- Affiliation: Confederacy of Independent Systems, Closed-Market
- Model: FI-1
- Modularity: Can be used on any style of vessel of space station
- Production: Limited
- Material: Utilizes an Isotope-5A core laced with Ionite-A to create a source of power as the Ionite reacts to the Isotope-5. Micro-magnets keep field contained inside a Phrik-A housing that is all contained with a carbonite/Ionite-A layer with a solid polymer version synthetic Yorik Coral to shield the outside from any kind of outside interference or radiation. Central core utilizes standard hypermatter reactor components retooled to handle Isotope-5A.
- Reactor is actually a series of smaller Isotope-5A Micro-reactors that all supplement a larger centralized Isotope-5A hypermatter reactor. This allows for the ship to rotate the Micro-reactors to give the ship the ability to cycle up and down power levels to run their reactors always at optimum power efficiency. This means that the larger centralized reactor can be made smaller and more efficient because it is never being over taxed or under utilized.
- Supplementary Reactors also able to boost the power coming from the central Isotope-5A hypermatter reactor to increase its fuel consumption and power output in times where maximum power generation is needed.
- Flexible Reactor design: This Reactor system is designed from the ground up to ensure that it will never waste fuel. That means whether your ship is idling, or using the power boosting full on combat settings you'll always be running your ship at peak fuel efficiency because of the way the reactors consume Isotope-5A
- Prone to meltdowns: So one problem with a smaller centralized reactor surrounded by a bunch of Isotop-5A Micro-Reactors, is that when this thing gets overloaded in a combat situation, by disengaging safeties and pushing the reactor as hard as you can, you get increased output. This "overdrive mode" also has a massive drawback, it tends to cause meltdowns in the reactor systems. Now whether that causes multiple of Isotope-5A Micro-Reactors supporting the central reactor, or the Central hypermatter reactor, or all of it to melt down at once, depends on how hard you push it. And when these things meltdown, let's just say that you'll see it from the other side of the system.
This reactor system has debuted from Freebirds Industries as the advent of the new fuel source that became available in the CIS, Isotope-5A. This new fuel source, and the relative abundance of it compared to the naturally occurring version, makes this the source of brand new technologies for power generation and fuel conservation. And the latest in this line of technologies is FI-1 Isotope-5A Reactor System. This system takes the Isotope-5A Micro-Reactor and builds upon it, adding into it a hypermatter reactor designed for Isotope-5A fuel and supplementing it with other Micro-reactors. This makes the entire system able run at peak efficiency no matter the power draw from the reactor system. This even allows for the reactor system to as a whole generate more power than each reactor would individually as the reactors cause cascading increases in power. This allows for even higher levels to be attained and that's all inside the physical and coded safeties to keep the reactors have in place to keep them safe. Now if you push these reactors beyond that, that cascade increase will get larger and larger, giving you even more power output but with one little problem. You're now sitting on a bomb, powered by Isotop-5A. Hope and pray that you only lose one of the micro-reactors, or possibly even just the central reactor. Because if they all go at once, you'll be the biggest light show in the system.
