Zeynab is a tall woman by most conventional galactic standards, but for a Nasvalo she falls a few inches short out of the average female height range. Her body is on the slender side with a medium frame. Her hair is long and dark, naturally wavy though she will occasionally straighten it. Her clothing is often a combination of tribal wear from her home world with modern wear. Body language wise, she tends to appear friendly and confident.
BIOGRAPHY:
Zeynab was born in the deserts of Manas to a transient caravan. While most desert dwellers fled the harsh land of their environment in favor of cities, Zey’s family were one of the few that stringently followed the old ways and shunned anything modern or ‘off-world’ as dangerous and blasphemous. Zey was one of many children born to a stern but loving couple who made their living traveling the deserts of Manas, hunting what game they could find and gathering what vegetation they happened upon. It was a difficult life, but the sacrifice was worth staying true to how they felt their people should live.
Zey had no reason to be the way she was. Though life in the sands was tough, she’d suffered neither abuse nor neglect from her family. As a child she’d bully her siblings, taking toys and food from them, taunting them until they cried. Her parents would always reprimand her, but Zey never stopped. She learned to be sneaky, to feign emotions she wasn’t feeling in order to manipulate situations to go her way. AFire shaping was not uncommon among the Force sensitives of her people, most tribes and caravans had at least one or two fire shapers who helped with household tasks such as cooking and lighting fires as well as defending their territory. At the age of eight, Zey discovered that she had the ability to generate heat and flame. She disappeared from the caravan after burning one of her brothers alive during a dispute.
Fearing what would happen to her if she’d stayed with her family, Zey fled to the capital city of Sel. She lived in the lower sectors, picking pockets to survive when one day she attempted to rob the wrong man. He was a criminal like her—only a gangster. After a brief beat down, Zey was informally inducted into their gang. She continued to work as a pickpocket for several years, sometimes doubling as a poor, crying distraction when the gang attempted robberies. During her time in Sel, Zey discovered how fractured her people were. The Nasvalo were divided over living a modern lifestyle and retaining their ancient ways, a dispute that caused more than a few clashes.
Even though she was fed and clothed, Zey was not content. The rewards for living the life of a gangster on Manas were too small. Her loyalties flip-flopped all across the lower sector, following any trail that would eventually lead her to gradually gain more power. In doing so she betrayed dear friends, severing ties quickly as if they’d never existed at all. Some feared her, some despised her. But it wasn’t enough. Manas wouldn’t be enough for her, at least not now. Zey knew that she could only grow so much by staying on her home world cutting throats for credits and basking in the miniscule glory that came with leading a band of criminals.
The decision to leave Manas was more difficult than she had imagined, surprisingly. But Zeynab adjusted to the galaxy nicely, learning how to conduct herself by watching others. One day she will return to Manas, ready to take it by the reigns.
