BIOGRAPHY:[/SIZE]
Zeynab’s earliest memories are of her father and his ship. Her mother was never in the picture and her father always shied away from the subject, leading Zey to wonder if her mother died or had left, something that had always bothered her. Her father however, took up the role of both parents and looked after his daughter the best he could while taking her on various odd jobs with him. Their home was their ship.
Zey’s father protected his daughter from the seedy underbelly of his work the best he could, but that only worked so well once she entered adolescence. He taught her how to hone her force sight and piloting skills as she grew up, and Zey quickly took up the role as his co-pilot.
Even though their work was less than honorable at times (smuggling, various criminal transports, etc.), they tended to stay out of harm’s way and did not bring harm to others in return. Zey slowly began to grow dissatisfied with this lifestyle, though it offered some thrill she felt as if she and her father weren’t taking full advantage of their own skills, and of what work for them the galaxy had to offer.
One night, she met a charming man in a bar on Narr Shaddaa who offered her three times the credits she usually charged to transport his “goods”. Upon discovering that the illegal merchandise was a small group of frightened, half-naked slave girls, Zey was disturbed and refused initially. But the man doubled her payout, and she hesitantly accepted, going behind her father’s back and smuggling the slaves to their destination.
There was something sickly satisfying about being a part of the slave trade, even if she was only involved in one leg of it. In the back of her mind she knew it was wrong, but the exhilaration and monetary earnings trumped her conscience. The pilot would become addicted to the feeling, agreeing to do more transports in exchange for heavy pay. She even became involved in helping to lure girls in bars and clubs, going so far as to spiking their drinks in order to “persuade” them.
Her father eventually found out when her excuses for the extra money ran out, having been suspicious of the “side jobs” she was picking up for a while. He confronted Zey during one of her typical deals, but things would soon turn sour for both Miralukas. The slaver Zey had been working with had found another pilot with more smuggling credentials, and intended to turn on Zey and sell her as a slave. Zey’s father had intervened during the struggle, escaping with his daughter but was badly injured.
A rift had grown between father and daughter, and the pair barely spoke to eachother while leaving Narr Shadaa in search of medical treatment. Zey’s father made the decision to retire on Alpheridies as he was no longer in any condition to fly. Wracked with guilt for both her father and the women she’d put into the slave trade, Zey returned to doing odd jobs, staying far away from anything that she might even think had to do with slavery.
