Description: The Zhorngi are a rank of warrior in the Vran’Ti army. They are essentially the elitest shapeshifters, while the Ven alone are dangerous, the Zhorngi are above even that. Those who have pushed their Vo and bodies to its limits. While prone to pride, they are some of the most religious among the Vran’Ti short of those within the Vo Ni themselves. Deadly warriors and occasional assassins or spies.
Unit Size: Medium
Unit Availability: Rare
Unit Experience: Elite
Combat Function: The Zhorngi are target killers, they may work within the military taking out particularly high threats, or go on smaller missions. They use their superior shapeshifting abilities to increase their combat prowess significantly.
All Zhorngi are Vran Ven, which means they can use their Vo to shapeshift their bodies at will allowing them to pose considerable threats to their enemies as they can adapt physically to the situation. They often have deceptive pouches inside which store more mass to be used if they need to enhance their size or physical abilities but so that it doesn’t get caught.
Physicals: Almost always the Zhorngi have adapted their bodies to be more physically capable then others, taking up greater size, resilience, and speed, so they can take down the likes of wookies with their strength and keep up with force sensitives with their speed. They apply this to their senses as well, even changing their whole heads at times to better enhance them. This also allows them to survive many types of environments.
Intimidation: The Zhorngi are known for taking on animalistic traits to become more intimidating, through applications to their bodies (in particular the head, hands, or legs) such as wolf-like skulls, claws, or bird or wolflike legs. They also may create considerable bone armor as they can transform this at will, giving them malleable defenses according to necessity.
Limits: A Zhorngi is greater then most Ven in that they have pushed their body and their Vo beyond what is normal even for them, changing more swiftly and dramatically then others, prone to storing great amounts of mass which they can reapply as needed. A Zhorngi must be able to transform from a normal body, to a fast distance runner, to a flying creature, to a sea creature, and back and must then defend themselves from attacks. This has resulted in Zhongi being even more dangerous then some of the Vo Ni.
Melee: Like most Vran, a Zhorngi specializes in melee combat. Whether unarmed, or through use of alchemized weapons (which are simply enhanced in durability), allowing them to take on many or very skilled enemies.
Force sensitivity: Though the Vo within a Zhorngi relies on the force, a Zhorngi themselve is not force sensitive. As a result, they are essentially just superior shapeshifter combatants, like an elitist Shii’Do minus the telepathy.
A Zhorngi’s abilities can be dampened or stopped by things like Void Stones, Ysilimir Fields, etc.
Due to being especially strong in their Vo, a Zhorngi is more likely to be sensed by force sensitives, making them much less effective at sneaking up on them.
Zhorngi are not stamina fighters when going full out. Although they are supposed to be capable of doing so, a Zhorngi can exhaust themselves if forced to shapeshift too many times.
Time: It takes awhile for a Zhorngi to become fully trained, as only the fastest learners reach their level in a decade, while some may take even three decades to be considered a Zhorngi.
Force Drain: If force drain is used considerably on their Vo, it can cause it to deteriorate/start dying. And as a result while attempt to consume energy, especially force energy, to survive. This greatly shortened the lifespan of a Vran, weakens their abilities and senses. And turns them into a Grai Vo
The Zhorngi have existed for a long time, created in the early years of the Vran’Ti’s official military. They are Ven who were put through elite trials to make them more and more combat prepared. Normally, a Ven is not considered more powerful then a Shi. Rather, their abilities are simply considered more dangerous to both the Ven themselves and to others.
The Zhorngi have been in many battles and suffered many trials, being trained not only in the physical arts, but to further strengthen their Vo. A Zhorngi must prove that they have the ability to preform feats far greater then expected of almost any warrior. They train often for anywhere from a decade, to three, and as a result it is both a respected position, but a feared path way due to some dying along the route and the missions they must undertake.
