Name: Zipher
Designation: Semi-Sentient
Homeworld: Veradune
Language: Screeches, chirps, and roars
Average height of adults: 2 meters
Skin color: Brown, Gold, black, bronze
Hair color: None
Breathes: Type 1
Strengths:
Acid Spitting(Range of 10 meters)
Extremely tough scaly hide(capable of blocking things such as physical blades but not ballistic, or energy weapons)
Weaknesses:
Soft spot around neck joint
A Zipher's pack will devour it upon any sign of serious injury, even if it has the potential to survive the initial wound
Distinctions:
Acid Glands in back of mouth capable of melting through most substances, including a wide range of metals.
Bending point two thirds up their neck is a large weak spot where any sort of blade can slash through if aimed a few inches high or low of it, decapitating them. However, hitting this spot directly will only bounce off the thick bone in that space.
Scales covering most of their body are capable of resisting vibroblades and highly resistant to normal blades
Razor sharp teeth and claws shred through wood with ease, though thick metals are safe from them.
Strong tails are capable of breaking ribs
Above average sight and hearing, though night vision is similar to that of a cat.
Average Lifespan: 50 years
Races: None
Estimated Population: Common in the deep wilds of Veradune
Diet: Any sort of meat. Plants will be eaten when no food is available, but it will make them sick after two or three day. They will remain sick until either they return to a regular diet of meat or die.
Communication: Screeches and small body signals to pack members
Culture: While non-sentient, the Zipher have evolved to work well in packs, generally ranging from two to ten. However, weakness is never tolerated, and should a Zipher be seriously injured, its pack mates will not only refuse to take care of it, they will attack and devour their fallen comrade, seeing him as an easy meal compared to whatever harmed it. When not consuming each other, the Zipher share a fairly sophisticated system of head nods and screeches to direct each other during hunts. In terms of hierarchy, the Zipher hold a sort of alpha at their head, as well as his mate often being his second. These two leaders are generally the largest of the pack and always eat first.
Technology level: None
General behavior: Aggressive but intelligent, the Zipher attack together, often spitting acid from a distance to kill their prey, especially if it is larger. Should a target be overly large and manage to survive the acid, they will likely depart. Though, anything around their size or smaller will be attacked on all sides as they attempted to malt and slash at it with their razor sharp claws and teeth. Should any prey manage to cripple a Zipher, those closest to the injured creature will attack and devour it.
History: During early Veran history, Zipher were a large threat to the native Zorren people, their tough scales, and acid making them deadly due to their natural weaponry and immunity to early weapons. Once the Zorrens learned to harness semi-modern technology however, they forced the Zipher away from populated areas of the planet, keeping them in the deep wilds, except for small populations kept in arenas for the warrior culture's more brutal sports. The Zipher survived this way for thousands of years, and while the rest of the zorren related wildlife was killed by the bandit raids of 400 aby, the bandits preferred to leave the Zipher alone, fearing their dangerous nature and loving their possibility for use in blood-sports. Once the Zorrens returned and the bandits were ousted in present day, the Zipher suffered little change in their life, except the closing of many stadiums that used them.
