Winged Flight - Racial - All Songwings, barring injury or defect, are evolved with a natural capacity for physical flight. Through wing power, they can achieve a fast click and are deceptively agile, and use it as their preferred mode of physical movement.
Natural Astrogation- Racial - Perhaps due to their nocturnal habits and flight capabilities, Songwings possess an almost inherent talent for directional navigation. With training, they’ve found their ability translates well into hyperspace cartography, and vessels employing them at navigational charts count their presence as a source of luck.
Enhance - Mariel's best skills as a Jedi are those that enhance that which already exists. Be it her memory, the inclination that someone already might have, the strength of a door.
Easy to Over Look - When she sheds her clothes and dampens her force signature, Mariel appears to be little more than a dumb animal. She uses this to her advantage when desired to go places she might otherwise be barred.
Hollow Bones - Racial - With most avian species showcasing flight, Songwings evolved hollow/porous skeletons to lessen physical weight and reduce fatigue and strain. It leaves them susceptible to breakages when traumatized.
Photosensitivity - Racial - Songwings find brightness in general a painful nuisance on their eyes. Prolonged exposure to elevated light levels can bring about retinal damage and eventual blindness.
Telekinesis - Mariel has no aptitude for telekinesis. Very minor tricks with great effort and attention, but nothing more. No amount of training seems to be able to overcome this.
Small - Mariel, as all of her race, is small. Lightweight, hollow boned, they are delicate and it takes very little to injure her.
Songwings are a reclusive species. By their nature they keep to their own, high in the tree tops of Kashyyyk. But when the Silver Jedi came, there was no shortage of interest.
From one particular Songwing at least.
After the Silver Jedi Order had arrived on Kashyyyk, she had broken with the more typical insular nature of her kind and learned everything she had been able. Quietly at first. Just watching. The Songwing perching on windowsills and in trees during lessons. More formally later, as time had gone on and finally someone had noticed the dove coloured owl constantly watching and peering in. She chose a name- a combination of a historical Jedi's and the closest translation into basic as her true name came. She worked, and she studied. And she read.
Eventually it had become clear to her, however, that there had been so much lost. Too much, perhaps. Voss. Ossus. Tython. So many histories and records plundered by the Sith. She had found her joy in the histories at the same time she had found her sorrow in how many of them had been lost. Possibly forever. Had the Sith kept them? Hidden them away? Or destroyed them? She didn't know.
But there were other archives. Other libraries. Ones that had not yet been destroyed. And so Mariel Dawnrider had set off. With a hope and a promise. To find what she could. To bring it back. And she had done that. Each trip returning- sometimes with holocrons, sometimes with bound volumes, sometimes with merely copies, but better copies than empty clawed.
Each time farther from Kashyyyk than before. Seeking. Hunting. Bringing back. Piece by piece, book by book. Slowly, slowly, starting to rebuild a history lost.
