GENERAL INFORMATION
  • Name: The Unrooted
  • Origins: Was made by the Veldorians in the distant past. One was discovered by Jake Ateris, and another was discovered by Taji Nelson. Taji mass produced the ship.
  • Other Locations: The trees can thrive in Mountains, Hill Tops, and Fields. They wouldn't fare well in volcanic locations, swamps, or similar.
  • Classification: Tree
  • Average Growth Cycle: When the tree starts out as a sapling, it takes it roughly a year to grow to the full height. After that, each of them will live for 1000 years. This is done by use of growth accelerants and the like to speed up the growth of the ship. When the tree dies, it shoots all sorts of spores across wherever it is, growing more of the Unrooted.
  • Viability:
The ship requires the energy of the Lightside of the Force as a form of sustenance. It also needs plant nutrients, and sunlight. It needs clean water. It needs at least 300 Gallons of Water, and 30 Feet of Clean Soil. It requires 10 Gallons of Plant Nutrients. It needs enough sunlight to power a small town with solar panels.

  • Description: A white or gold tree that either is a sapling, or towering over anyone in the area. The trees have golden fruit, as well as brown fruit. The brown fruit is food for the Purrgils, while the golden fruit is fruit for Force Users. The Trees sometimes gain markings which show who the owner of the ship is.
PHYSICAL INFORMATION
  • Average Height: Up to 1,000 Feet.
  • Average Length: Up to 500 Feet.
  • Color: White,
  • Nutritional Value: On the exterior they grow pods that can release gas that attracts the Purrgill and gets them to take the tree ships wherever they want to go. They also grow fruit that is edible to humans and other similar species. It tastes like Pineapple, and has a complete nutrition for humans, providing all they need.
  • Toxicity: The fruit that is grown for the Purrgill is highly toxic to any species except them, and is to be avoided.
  • Other Effects:
The other fruit also helps the user regenerate their Force Energy at a rapid rate, and helps injuries heal faster as well. It immunizes them against most easy to cure diseases.
  • Distinctions: The Trees have "pools" inside them that have electricity generating Fish inside them that they channel the electricity of in order to control the Purrgil.
Strengths:
  • Can't turn off most of the ship systems: The ship's systems are organic, and thus most can't be turned off by EMPs or Slicers.
  • Self Aware: Each of the trees is self aware.
    Edits:
  • Hyper Advanced Photosynthesis: This collects Sunlight and Cosmic Energies. This can be used as a weapon, or as a way to propel itself. Granted, this would need some time to recharge.
  • Telepathy: They can telepathically communicate with those inside it.
  • They can also grow fruit, and manipulate their branches, and the like.
Weaknesses:
  • Terrified: The ship has a phobia of termites and beavers. It is also afraid of Herbicide. It will either attempt running away at first, or if that isn’t possible shooting ship weapons at the source of Herbicide, or Beavers.
  • Needs Solar Energy: It needs Solar Energy. It needs enough energy to power a small town.
  • It needs Plant Nutrients. It needs at least 50 Gallons for each trip.
  • Over Charging: Over Charging could kill the Tree Ship. It will need to spontaneously fly off or shoot something if it overcharges. This would require the energy of a large town to overload it.
  • When landing the tree needs at least 30 Feet of Dirt due to the enormous root system it has.
  • Exhausted Power Supply: Should the ship exhaust it’s power supply, it will grow a sort of protective amber cocoon around it, and go into stasis.
  • Tree Weaknesses: This has the weaknesses of Trees; Fire, Acid, Rot, Etc.
  • The Dark Side of the Force: As the ship relies on the Light Side partly, this is vulnerable to the Dark Side. The Dark SIde of the Force would be cancerous to the tree, and cause the Unrooted it's inside to die.
  • Edit: Link to Owner: Should the Tree Ship's owner die, the Tree Ship would also likewise perish.
  • Without the Light Side of the Force, Nutrients, and Sunlight along with Fresh Water, the Unrooted could only last a day.
  • Unwilling to Kill: The Tree Ships are generally unwilling to allow their owner to kill using them.

Mixed Strengths / Weaknesses:

  • Simple Controls: The controls of the ship are far simpler than what would be the controls of say a Tie Fighter or most modern ship. To pilot, your hands will be stuck in a kind of "goo" and then you move it to move the Tree when it is in ship mode.
  • Link to Bio Eels: The Unrooted are linked to Bio Eels, drawing extra power from them to power the defense systems of the ship. Should the Bio Eels be killed, it would cause the tree no small amount of damage.

HISTORICAL INFORMATION

In the distant past, the Veldorians needed a way to travel due to their allergy to most of the universe’s metals. So, they decided to create a ship. Via the use of their own techniques and sciences, they were able to create a tree that they could use as a ship. The ships they made lacked weapons systems at first. Yet, when the Bryn’adul attacked, the 150 who managed to escape decided they needed something more combat based when they found a new world to settle down on.

When they found their new home, the two portions of their species decided they would create a weapon both of them could utilize. So they mutated the Unrooted, adding the ability to shoot the collected energies out of “Vents” they added that would allow them to project the energies outward as beams of energy that were the equivalent to TurboLaser batteries on the trees. This wasn’t the only change they created to the Unrooted, however.

Their work on the species continued, and they added additional features to the Unrooted as well, making restrictions so they couldn’t use the species for war as they wanted to live through the madness the galaxy was suffering. Time passed, and their planet was discovered by the Bryn’adul. They fled in the ships and 150 of them managed to get away. Now they have found a new homeworld, and continue their alterations to the Tree Ships, the Unrooted.

Upon discovering a seed, a lone solitary seed of the Unrooted, Taji has made his own efforts to create Tree Ships or Unrooted of his own. This was done by him from studying the Biots employed by the Yuuzhan Vong in the distant past. Further studies into Bio Tech led to him deciding to include genetic material from Force Sensitive Trees in order to make the Unrooted better than they had been in the past. From the union of the Biots of the Yuuzhan Vong, and the Force Sensitive Trees, the Second Generation of Unrooted were born.

When it is about to space travel, the Unrooted forms it's "Ship Form" by rearranging the branches to become a "Ship". The branches also grow "Fruit" that attracts the Purgil, and then the branches latch onto it, sending electrical currents into the Purgil to convince it to go wherever.

When these were made, Inspiration was taken from the ships of Zonama Sekot, the Biots used by the Yuuzhan Vong and any other organic spaceships to exist. These were researched, and the information gained was combined to become the Unrooted.

The Unrooted collect water from planets when they are "docked" on the world, as well as atmosphere. This is stored inside them until the ship takes "Flight" at which point the water and nutrients are used to fuel the tree. The tree when in orbit collects Sunlight from planets which it uses as an energy source in addition to the Lightside of the Force.

Hello Taji Nelson , I'll be judging your submission! I am a judge in training so this will require secondary approval.

Let's get started!

General Information-
Origins: Was made by the Veldorians in the distant past. One was discovered by Jake Ateris, and another was discovered by Taji Nelson. Taji mass produced the ship.

If possible link to the Veldorians (https://www.starwarsrp.net/threads/veldorians.144871/) since they are the original creators of the species and your historical basis for the submission.

Other Locations: Everywhere

Could you expand on this? What kind of environment does it favor? For example, can it grow in swamp lands, forests, volcanic soil, or does it favor only one type of biome?

Viability:
The ship requires the energy of the Lightside of the Force as a form of sustenance. It also needs plant nutrients, and sunlight. It needs clean water.

This is a very interesting concept! Could you clarify how it consumes lightside energy? How much sunlight and water does it require? What kind of soil does it need? How long can it last in space without these essentials?

Description: A Light Side Oriented Tree Ship Species.

This section is for a brief description of the general appearance of the tree. What would a person see as they walked by? Is it a leafy tree? What type of bark would someone see at a glance?

Physical Information-
Average Height: Up to 10,000 Feet

Since this species does double as a ship it is subject to the starship forum rules. The limit for an individual’s ship is 1,000m, or 3,281ft.
jatDt8.jpg

Nutritional Value: On the exterior they grow pods that can release gas that attracts the Purgill and gets them to take the tree ships wherever they want to go. They also grow fruit that is edible to humans and other similar species. It tastes like Pineapple, and has a complete nutrition for humans, providing all they need.

Purrgil is misspelled, also can you link them? (https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Purrgil)

Other Effects: When a user of the Lightside is inside the Tree in ship mode, their Force Abilities get a significant boost in both power and effectiveness.

Unfortunately this sounds like the ship carries a Force nexus which is prohibited. A nexus may exist on a static location such as a location or planet but may not be mobile.

Distinctions: N/A

You can use this section to describe what sets this species apart from other trees. Perhaps expand on just how the species is capable of getting to orbit, and exactly how it creates electric currents to control purrgil.

Strengths & Weaknesses-
Weaknesses:
  • Needs Solar Energy: It needs Solar Energy.
  • It needs Plant Nutrients
  • Over Charging: Over Charging could kill the Tree Ship. It will need to spontaneously fly off or shoot something if it overcharges.

Detailing how much solar energy and even nutrients the tree requires could really cement these weaknesses. As mentioned before, an edit to the Viability section would flesh out the species and make it shine! As for Overcharging, could you add a brief detail of how it might overcharge?

Mixed Strengths / Weaknesses:

  • Link to Bio Eels: The Unrooted are linked to Bio Eels, drawing extra power from them to power the defense systems of the ship.

This is really cool and I love the use of organic, not-Vong biology! In which way is this also a weakness, however? If you don’t mind, link the eels as well (https://www.starwarsrp.net/threads/bio-eels-fe.143941/).

Comment-
Not only organic but wooden ships! It is a unique idea and I like it a lot. I do have to mention that if used in a PvP encounter this will also need a factory submission to detail the firepower and defenses of the “treeship.” If you have any questions or want help with ideas ask away!

Saket Keane Saket Keane It amplifying Light Side energies was it's way of repaying Organics with such abilities for letting it feed off of them. Do you have any ideas for an alternative?

Taji Nelson

This is looking good!

  • Other Effects: This fruit also helps the user regenerate their Force Energy at a rapid rate, and helps injuries heal faster as well. It immunizes them against most easy to cure diseases.

This is a fine replacement for the nexus feature. It is still a powerful effect, but as long as it is used wisely then there should be no trouble!

I noticed you didn't use the Distinctions section to explore how the tree may achieve orbit or generate electricity to control purrgil. Is this something you may want to expand on for future reference?

Taji Nelson

Unfortunately, at second glance a lot more is going to be needed for this submission. To start off, since this is still a ship it will need a factory submission first in order to be approved in codex. What will happen is that we will try our best to get this up to codex standard, then whatever adjustments made in factory will be done here. Please bare with me while I look this over in the meantime.

This is the basis for such ships to exist, to be honest. I was going to work on them after the species is approved. Saket Keane Saket Keane

I have already completed and gotten one of the ships approved.

I understand this is your blueprint for further variants of the species. However, this means getting this to codex standard is even more integral. As before, please bare with me during this process.

Here we go! This is a list of what needs to be changed, expanded on, or linked for this submission. Any questions you have I'm more than willing to help you with!

The first thing that should be addressed is that this submission reads very much like the
Jurai Tree-Ships from the anime Tenchi Muyo! which clashes with the "No Crossover Content" rule of Chaos. If your inspiration is the Jurai Tree-Ships then that would need to be linked, however the submission itself would need to be differentiated from the source material. Other things related to Tenchi Muyo! are:
  • Royal Tree: The "first-generation" and "second-generation" terminology within the Historical Information reads very much like this article.
  • The "cat-like species" you mention could very well be a Cabbit from the series.
It's perfectly fine to take inspiration from a source! But you will have to change these similarities.

Moving on to the body of the submission:

  • In Origins the link to Veldorians is broken.
  • Since in Nutritional Value there are two varieties of fruit, one which is toxic (Clouzon-36, since a hyperdrive fuel, is highly toxic to most humanoids) it should be listed in Toxicity.
  • In both Distinctions and Strengths it is mentioned that the tree-ship's Solar Canons use the Force. Unfortunately, this is a weaponization of the Force and must be changed. Linking solar sailers in its stead might interest you, as it would act in a similar way with the tree's photosynthesis.
  • In Strengths the tree-ship gains a "Tardis-effect." How does this ship become the size of a ten story building inside without altering its real mass?
  • Also in Strengths the tree's avatar leaves several questions:
    • How does the tree manifest an Avatar? What is an Avatar and how does it interact (Force ghost, illusion, hologram)? If it is any of these things except a Force ghost, how does it utilize the Force? How is it capable of being killed?
  • In Weaknesses the "Exhausted Power Supply" doesn't seem too serious of a weakness in consideration of having the bio-eels as a backup.
  • In Historical Information it's said that:
The tree when in orbit collects Light from planets which it uses as an energy source in addition to the Lightside of the Force.
Can you further expand on this? What light? The Force? Or regular sunlight? If the Force, which already flows in and around all things organic and inorganic, what makes this different?
  • Also written in Historical Information is:
Without the Light Side of the Force, Nutrients, and Sunlight along with Fresh Water, the Unrooted could only last a day.
This should be added as a weakness.
Thank you for your patience! I hope this helps. If anything isn't clear enough I'll be glad to explain.

Saket Keane Saket Keane While it did draw some inspiration from the Royal Jurai Trees Cat creature), It does have many differences if you look at it carefully. The tree ship though was inspired by a question i asked myself. What organic ships exist other than Vong?

However, I am making edits as we speak. I have removed the cat creatures. In this specific case, though:
First Generation refers to the pre-fleeing their original homeworld that was attacked by the Bryn'adul, whereas Second Generation references the Tree Ships made after that, the ones they altered and experimented on. Sadly, the Solar Sailers won't work - because of the fact they're metallic. The whole point of weaponizing Force Energy was so they wouldn't need any.

I do have one question though.

Why must it lose the weaponization of the Force?

I have removed the Tardis - Effect. Fixed the Avatar thing so it is essentially the tree growing a "Wooden Puppet" it can use to interact with things inside of it.

Since the tree utilizes the Force to use these lasers this qualifies it as a Force power. According to
Codex Rules:
unknown.png
The suggestion of solar sailers is in regards to being used more as an example, an altered base to explain the tree-ship's propulsion via solar energy.

Another question from the Historical Information:
making restrictions so they couldn’t use the species for war
What restrictions were made? How did Taji circumvent these?

As for the first and second generation terminology, that will be reviewed again when the rest of the submission edits are complete.

Hope that helps!

Taji Nelson Thank you for making the edits!

Unfortunately this is still too closely related to Tenchi Muyo! and must be further differentiated. The reason for this decision is the similarities of the abilities, origin, and actions of the Avatar to those of the tree-ships of the show (links related:
Tsunami, Jurai Tree-Ships).

Also, while having the Avatar's abilities very similar to the Jurai Tree-Ships' technology:

unknown.png
unknown.png
unknown.png
(from the Jurai Tree-Ship article)

The other point here is the Codex's species creation ruling that:

unknown.png
While in the Historical Information there is the explanation for the tree's purely solar beams there is none for the abilities every tree's avatar knows. This submission must be further differentiated from Tenchi Muyo! including the avatars, who need to be changed to not be so heavily reminiscent of the sentient humanoid forms of the Tenchi Muyo! ships.

If you've any more questions please feel free to ask.

I am working on editing it, as we speak. However, I am removing the Telepathy, Telekinesis, and pretty much all the Force Powers. How to launch it, since use of the Force at all is prohibited, essentially, except for abilities that would be useless for such launch? I've also removed the avatars.

Saket Keane Saket Keane

Taji Nelson Thank you for working on those edits!

On the ability to use the Force, all Force Powers are not prohibited within the Codex. However, they cannot be classified as "active" when talking about an entire species, they must be learned and developed by the individual. This is why Force abilities like Shockwave, Telekinesis, and Force Light cannot be listed in your submission as part of the ship's abilities.

Now an idea for a propulsion system is that it could absorb sunlight or cosmic energies through hyper-advanced photosynthesis. The stored energy could be naturally condensed by the ship and used as propellant and as a "super- heated" weapon. It would naturally limit itself by needing to re- charge after use. Another idea could be a low-level Tutaminus that absorbs the heat energy to power some self-telekinetic flight.
