The Lutrinians are an interesting race, as a thousand years after they were discovered, they went to war with the Galaxy after a father decided to not let a Jedi take his Force-senstive daughter... by killing the Jedi. Said conflict, called the Lutrine Wars, killed over 100 billion sentients, established the race as a formidable enemy who was to be given a wide berth. After said war, which occurred just over 4,000 years before the Battle of Yavin, and lasted for 5, the Lutrinians were guaranteed a seat in the Republic after 700 years to prepare themselves. In that time, they ceased all major fighting among their clans, and focused on creating a stable government and expanding their influence.
By the time of the Clone Wars, the Lutrine Confederacy, alternatively called Lutrine Space, had both a seat in the Galactic Senate, and was a member of both the Trade Federation and Council of Neutral Systems. Despite bordering Separatist-controlled space, they remained officially neutral, despite sides being taken. Numerous Lutrinians joined the Confederacy as either commanders or soldiers, while the young senator for the region volunteered to lead an all volunteer division in the GAR, fighting alongside three Jedi. A year before the war ended, the Separatists massacred 100,000 Lutrinian colonists on a Nemoidian colony world, causing the rest of the people to turn on the Confederacy, with the region siding officially with the Republic. In the last year of the war, a months-long battle occurred on the planet, ending after the locals destroyed practically every single droid and Separatist on the planet, and when Order 66 was activated.
