Ah the neon lights, this place was much more fun compared to Coruscant. The real question was which was filled with more bottom of the barrel trash like herself?

The thought amused her as she took the last hit of her cigarra, gazing down at the dried blood on the pack as the smoke faded away.

Right... Not all fun and games ey? The boss wanted something one of these corpo offices was hiding away, a weapons tech facility right? Far be it from her to question Adeline, never a wise move.. But it was too late for regrets right.. Right?

Jackal adjusts her tie after putting away her pack of cigarras, looking the part of a corpo employee she makes her way into the front, carrying a black briefcase along with her.

Offering over her "badge" to the front desk, she is granted access through the employee only door.

Life had gotten much more straightforward for Black on Denon and elsewhere; you could say it was becoming too easy with Darkwire going quiet. He was winning in the Triad war, Goros had gone silent, and Lady Blue was on her last legs. Cold efficiency always won in the end, not overt force or underhanded tactics, though they didn't hurt either.

Ahead of Jackal was a twelve-man Apex Security detail accompanying Mr. Black, alongside his two most loyal associates, a statuesque Hapan female and a hefty-looking human covered in cybernetics. The latter also carried the infamous black briefcase, the object on the large side for observing eyes. The group was a good cover for Jackal's approach if she could use it; perhaps the color of her own briefcase might make that even easier.

The group had paused, and the first of the Apex security guards was discussing the arrangements for their meeting. Further back, Black and his blond female assistant could be overheard discussing something.

"How crucially do we need this?" Black asked with a hint of tension in his voice.
"You'll do fine," she said, adjusting his collar.
"We could buy the building?" He suggested and she shook her head. "The corporation?" Black followed up, drawing out his assistants' usual judgmental look to check his extravagance in reality.

To a trained eye, Black's blonde Hapan assistant carried herself in a certain way. Her movements, stance, and observation marked her as a potential threat, but her conservative corporate appearance made her seem the least intimidating.

Communication came into the building security, and they were all moving again off to the meeting.

In her line of work, sights like this were nothing different or shocking. But alas there were always opportunities to be had concerning fancy suits... She takes a calm yet steady stride behind the group as they went on. With the way they were talking they might have some insight on the information she had been sent after, and with her boss wanting it scrubbed? Ya.. More of a demand over a simple request.

Her pale ears listen in while pretending to look at her phone up until some more suits came into the picture.

"Welcome Mr Black! Welcome! Please if you and your associates would follow me, I am sure we have much to discuss."

Some sleezeball of a man opens a door for them all, keeping a grin as they are directed inside the meeting room. The inside was nothing too fancy, but it had enough room and comfortable seats as a bonus.

As they start to enter, the man snaps a finger over at Jackal.

"You there! Yes you.. Miss..."

Jackal puts her phone away as the man clearly wanted something, no panic just yet.. She had plenty of cards to play.

"Amber."

"Good good, come with me."

'Amber' moves on inside the room with the rest of them, the rather rotund man taking a seat at the head of the table.

"It has come to my attention that you are seeking to buy ownership of Endura, right Mr Black?"

While waiting for a response he would gesture Jackal over, speaking into her ear as she leans down.

"Go in the connected room and bring us some drinks."

Keeping to her act, she simply nods and steps off to grab something to drink. Rather satisfied that he just wanted her here so he could be lazy, a good sign she was still clear.

As Black entered the meeting room with his usual calculated efficiency, six of his security detail stood in the corridor guarding the door. Another six mirrored their presence inside, poised with silent professionalism. Black, a man who valued time over formalities, unfastened his lowest suit button and took his seat. His trusted assistants flanked him and engaged in more formal greetings.

"Water for me, please, miss," Black's tone was cordial. Watching the lady tasked with getting drinks. Given his corporate conflicts, he considered that the negotiators might try to introduce a drug to make him more compliant and weighed the risk, taking out a small device to scan the liquid ready on the table.

To his right, Black's burly male assistant unclipped the notorious Black Briefcase from his cybernetic arm, and the sound of an evident metal lock detaching filled the room, adding a sense of impending curiosity. He turned the large object over, placing it carefully at the side of his employer.

To his left, the Hapan female Annasun adjusted her glasses, the lens seeing more than just people. "I believe we are more interested in your latest development," she answered politely,

Turning on his briefcase, it revealed itself to be a desk that fit itself to the surface it was on, a holoprojector, a personal computer, and more. Black projected a series of charts, showing all the information he had about the company, the item they'd come for, and its projected forecasts, letting them know there was no point lying to him.

"Why think small." Throwing out Annasun's suggested approach, she didn't flinch, probably used to his overzealous business attitude. He pointed at the charts and the trends that were showing.

"Apex Industrial could swallow your product line or business." He shot his suit cufflinks straight and said, "Or you could work for us." Hardball right from the start. He pressed his finger down on the briefcase controls, and a massive projection of what everyone was here to talk about filled the room, perhaps even catching "Jackal" "Jackal" 's attention as something she was looking for.

"Is it available for viewing?" Annasun's need for detail and clarity became evident.

As Jackal started to fill up a glass of water, she listens in... Boss wouldn't be happy about this one, not at all.

"N-Now sir, please listen.. I am just a representative for Endura, a business man same as you. I had the impression today that you sought the company, not something like that."

He nervously clutches the glass of cold bourbon given to him by Jackal, rustling the ice around as he lets out a deep and clearly stressed sigh. Giving Mr Black a moment to be handed his water before the man continued on, afraid to speak too loud.

"Do you even know what all that is? How dangerous it is? I-"

He pauses as he turns to Jackal.

"Amber was it? What department do you even work in?"

Knowing something like this would happen, Jackal shows her employee ID... Everything seemed to be in order.

"The new experimental weapons division sir."

Whatever this information was, it was likely this woman knew about it then.

"Good good, now as I was saying Mr Black.. You may know we got our hands on something, you may even know some small parts about this project. But I can assure you sir that you do not know where it came from, that information was stolen from a high ranking figure. A General from the Sith Order, and Endura fears that if we keep these stolen blueprints any longer that we may run into trouble."

And that was his hard counter.

"As I said, from one business man to another. We both understand that smart credits are better than a risky gamble, might I interest you in perhaps this building instead? Or perhaps stocks? I-I can show you around the building even.."

A risky gamble? This had the potential to harbor insane profits... IF this project was even worth the time of course. Endura was more known for appliances and basic pharmaceuticals over weapons.

"My reputation for buying everything in sight is overstated," Black remarked with a hint of amusement. Apex Holdings had over a dozen affiliate corporations, each with different interests vying for control of them. The amalgamation made boardroom meetings enjoyable but lethal, necessitating the security around him.

"And my colleague advises restraint." The two exchanged a glance in silent understanding. Black smiled, and Annasun's eye roll was a practiced response. A familiar negotiation method between them, aimed to make it seem like he was doing Endura a favor and introducing a challenge for negotiation.

Accepting the glass of water, Black offered a polite "thank you" to Amber. Annasun remained vigilant, watching every step toward them. A shifting metal noise indicated the burly man with the cybernetic arm had activated its servos, scanning his wrist over the glass to confirm if it was "clean."

Mention of the Sith Order rang some alarm bells. Typically, Black didn't get involved in galactic politics directly, so his company endured the turmoil they brought. He allowed the man to speak, gaining all the information he could.

"One, you are not equipped for this field of industry. Two, when the Sith discover this, and they will, it'll cost you everything," he warned. "I have associates who can make these worries disappear without a trace." The Haxion, the Syndicate, Fire For Effect, the silent partner, the Triads—the options were plentiful, and if he could drop this problem on a competitor to watch them burn, then contact the Sith, even better.

"For a price and a hit to your pride, your problems can vanish, and you stand to make a healthy profit," Black confidently asserted, drinking his water. He pressed the briefcase controls, moving screens projecting a contract to acquire all experimental product lines. He wanted to fully integrate Endura into an Apex Holdings subsidiary company and bury all knowledge of this project under mountains of bureaucracy.

While the amount was substantial, it factored in potential complications with the Sith Order. Boldly assuming agreement, Black proposed, "Perhaps you and your assistant Amber can give us a first-hand assessment?" To ensure he was getting what he was paying for.

"I'm sorry Mr Black, but the danger is just too risky. Endura already plans on trying to get rid of the project, even destroying all of it. From what we know about this General 'Keres' they have ties in the underworld, all it takes is one data breach or some skilled slicing thug to get a trail. I would be happy to talk more about this partnership though.."

Jackal then chimes in.

"Not to mention that Sith pay well, even ignoring sides you can't argue with credits. Don't we get funding thanks to some of them? If they learned of this betrayal.."

The man sighs, rubbing his forehead in frustration.

"Y-yes we have gotten support, but that lifeline is risky too. Which is why I want to know more about merging companies, I am sure the higher ups would understand and trust my choice."

Jackal simply nods before gazing at the door.

"A good move ya.. Say, am I done here? I figure I should go scrub the security recordings shouldn't I?"

He pays little attention, waving her off.

"Yes yes Amber, go take care of that. But once you are done done do come back, I- Just come back."

With a calm smirk she grabs her briefcase, giving him a nod again.

"Count on it."

She simply says before exiting the room.

"Now then.. No reason to avoid the elephant in the room.. Ahem.."

He opens up a laptop, going over some basic information.

"Endura brings in fifty thousand credits per month from sells, and four hundred thousand every two months thanks to its... Funders as we mentioned prior. And assuming we cut down some costs for the sake of Apex holdings not giving out any of the information you got your hands on.."

He runs some math in his head..

"I think we can work on a merging for around twenty million, this comes with the buildings owned by Endura of course. Going with Apex holdings would cut out that income from outside parties, and with my offer Endura would have the time to refurbish and comfortably adjust the wages of employees before that lacking of Sith funding ends up being a negative. A raw deal for us, but when stuck in the situation we are in.. If I had more leverage the price would be around eighty million mind you.."

While his competitors might have threatened to reveal the secret to get what they wanted, that wasn't Black's way, bureaucracy being his preferred leverage. Studiously, he made some amendments to Annasun's contract on his briefcase terminal. Members of Apex Security distributed datapads containing the terms and conditions, handing several to the opposing party on the table opposite.

Black presented a fifty-page document outlining ownership of the building, assets and staff employment provisions. Buried within the dense text was a clause regarding transferring all droids and computer hardware ownership.

As the opposing team reviewed the document, Black silently concurred with Amber that the corporation was in over its head, and he was prepared to isolate those responsible. With a nod to Amber as she left the room, Black subtly moved a small inconspicuous necklace around his wrist, fashioned as a bracelet.

"You may keep your project, including all its files, footage, and consequences. Twenty-five million. I require an immediate decision. Other competitors are looking to merge with Apex Medical." Black had beaten their asking price but demanded a quick answer to create pressure. Anyone with force sensitivity or attention to detail nearby might realize these terms were a specific ploy, but what were the odds of that?

As the three Apex negotiators conferred strategy in whispers, Broca, the burly Epicanthix seated to Black's right, uploaded a copy of something into a metal slot on his neck. Shutting his eyes to focus on the upload, the man securely stored the data within his impregnable mind, his race impervious to telepathy or mental inquiry.

Flabbergasted would be the right word to use to describe his reaction, he sighs before offering over some paperwork.

"All the paperwork should be in order, just some official signings and-"

The lights flicker, and soon the emergency lockdown system is enabled.. Metal shielding lowered over the windows, and main passageways became locked tight.

Obviously confused, the man tries to call the front desk... No response, no luck with the security office either.

In said security office sat Jackal, flipping knife around with one hand as the other went to work slicing into the systems. Howl_Runner did its job, everything was under the hitwoman's control.

Letting out a minor chuckle she gently pats a dead guard on the shoulder, cleaning her blade on his clothes before sheathing it.

"PICK UP YOU SON-"

The man doesn't get to finish before he finally gets a connection.

"Hello? Who is this? Give me a report now!"

Gunshots are heard in the background of both the phone and in the distance before a voice speaks.

"Keep tight."

Is all that is said before the line drops.

"I don't suppose you have a plan?"

He asks Mr Black... There were possibilities here, even more so if this attack was thanks to the Sith.

Black signed regardless, maintaining cold efficiency despite the danger, and handed the finalized copies to Annasun for safekeeping. Despite warnings from two different people about the risks of this project, the man, fearing bringing in an expert, had accepted the weight of these consequences solely upon himself. Black, not often rewarding bad decisions, found himself in a dilemma. He now owned the company under fire, part of which genuinely interested him.

Until Broca's download was completed, the man's further questions were now met with silence from the executive.

"Are you wearing your armorweave?" Black folded up his briefcase, checking his own armorweave and high-grade tech. The outside comms lines were likely cut, but it didn't hurt to look for a signal.

Annasun, didn't dignify the question with an answer. She never left home without her slim armorweave, a stark contrast to Broca, who paraded around like an obviously armored tank under his suit. The lockdowns would be the first obstacle to overcome. Black placed his hands together over the table, his tone serious.

"What I suggest, sir, is you exit my building as fast as possible, and if you survive the weekend, we'll discuss it." The briefcase snapped closed. He looked at Annasun, signaling it was her time to shine, and the Hapan addressed the former owner's partner, ignoring the marked man.

"Send your non-critical staff home. Double your security details, assign them to critical areas only, leave the corridors clear, and track any strange movement. You'll better know where any threat is, and they'll have no easy pickings." The Hapan then instructed the Apex guards over their communicators, half of whom were likely beginning to cut through the door from the other side. All twelve would stay close to their employer.

Broca walked over to the room's locked door and interfaced his cybernetics with the panel, attempting to out-slice the slicer. His downloaded schematics gave him some potential to make it difficult for any opponent, at least in something as simple as door controls.

"We need a guide to your droid bay." All part of the contract; everything in there was his, seemingly harmless unless you could follow the dots. Standing by the door, Black looked at Broca impatiently, cutting sounds burning behind the metal as his personnel began to come through on their own, waiting for man or metal to succeed.

The trio's destination was a seemingly harmless visit to a droid bay, with a dozen corporate security plus a guide in escort.
