INVASION

At any point, a Major Faction may “invade” another Major Faction's occupied hex. This involves one Major Faction's members fighting for control of the hex(es) against another Major Faction's members. New Major Factions may not be invaded for the first 30 days after their application is approved unless they initiate an Invasion first.

A Major Faction Owner or approved faction representative may start an Invasion by initiating a thread in the Public Roleplay forum with the Invasion prefix as the main topic. A Major Faction may add additional threads to this main thread as "Chapters".

  • Label your faction's name, the hex, and the opposing faction in the main topic's title.
  • A Major Faction may only start one Invasion at a time.
  • A Major Faction must give one week's notice of their intention to Invade a hex in a Declaration thread in the Roleplay Discussion forum. When this thread is created please tag an Admin so they are aware of the Invasion.
  • Hexes invaded further than two hexes away from a Major Faction's border will not increase a Major Faction's Influence Cloud.
  • Starting on the day of the Invasion Declaration OOC thread, Major Factions may not claim nor Dominion a hex bordering any hexes of an Invasion until a Victory Declaration is provided and the Invasion has been added to the Map Update Request thread. This period of time may not be longer than one week prior to the Invasion roleplay.
  • Hexes gained in this manner will be given in accordance to the shortest path available, but Major Factions may annotate a hex from which the Invasion starts it's path.
  • Hexes rewarded in this manner must be empty or belonging to the target hex's Major Faction Influence Cloud.

Stampeding is prohibited. Stampeding is when several members of a Major Faction post repetitively without waiting for a response from the opposition.
Stalling is prohibited. Stalling is where a defending faction deliberately seeks to under perform.
There is a moratorium on Invasion and Annihilation threads between the 1st of December and the 8th of January. Invasions and Annihilations must be submitted for judging prior to December 1st, and may not begin before the 8th of January.

REQUESTING AID

1. All Major Factions in an Invasion thread may request assistance from Factions not involved in the thread.

2. Allies must be accepted by the Major Faction they are assisting.

INVASION CHAPTERS

1. Before the Invasion starts, the attacking or defending Major Faction Owner may veto the usage of Invasion Chapters. If this veto is utilized, chapters may not be added to the Invasion and only the main thread will count for judgement. Vetoes may not be utilized after the start of the Invasion.

2. The original poster of the main thread must manage Invasion Chapters. For threads they wish to add as Chapters but are not the original poster of, the SWRP Staff Team must be consulted.

3. All Invasion Chapters start date must begin after the start date of the Invasion's main thread.

4. All Invasion Chapters are to be treated as simultaneously ongoing as a default - vast writer interpretations may apply, as this may change by direction of presiding Major Faction Owners.

5. Writers are encouraged to abide by a courtesy grace period if they wish to move between thread chapters. If your character does not start in a thread chapter, please be respectful of others roleplaying in those chapters by not "teleporting", power-gaming, or meta-gaming your way into chapter storylines. Writers are encouraged to post an exit post, wait a period of time, then post an entrance to the Invasion Chapter they wish to move to. This is not a strict guideline and may be negotiated, amended, or outright ignored by presiding Major Faction Owners of the Invasion's main thread.

6. Attempts to abuse Invasion Chapters may be reported to the SWRP Staff Team.

VICTORY DECLARATION

1. The thread and its chapters must have a minimum total of 100 posts between both factions among all threads involved.

2. Both factions must have a minimum of 5 faction members per side. If either faction cannot meet this requirement within 72 hours of the beginning of the invasion, that faction forfeits.

3. Invasions typically run for two weeks.

4. At any time, Faction Owners may request an Administrator to review an Invasion for the purpose of forcing an early concession due to inactivity from any offending or defending Factions. If the claim is found valid, the Administrator may initiate an early Judgement deliberation.

5.
At no point during the Invasion may a Faction Owner be requested to submit or voluntarily submit a summary of the Invasion for the purposes of the SWRP Administrator Team's review.

Once an Invasion nears it's completion, contact an Administrator. If either faction does not concede, SWRP Administrators will decide the victor.

VICTORY JUDGEMENT

Once an Invasion has reached its conclusion, the thread and all included chapters will be judged by a panel of Site Administrators and/or Roleplay Judges.

Once this judgement has been decided it will be announced by one of the Administrators.

Changes to the original ruleset are in blue.

I'm new here. What is this?

Well, we have Invasions. A favorite pastime of our writers, where one faction invades another. For the past 12 years, they've been one big thread. Some of them echoing across all of Chaos history with how girthy they got. But... it was also super annoying to keep up with. Like, a hundred writers @'ing each other that you don't need to pay attention to. You're just looking for you and your three guys in the crowd.

Well, now we're offering an ability to organize this, spread it out, and focus more on having enjoying whats happening while also feeling like a small part of a bigger whole. Here's the first of a lot of stuff we're cooking for the community right now, that the Staff Team has all jumped onboard and said "tyranny reigns just yeet it in", so we're bypassing the usual like 3 months of discussion and then one month of Tef being lazy before it gets properly cooked.

Here's additions to the ruleset, allowing Invasions to now sprawl over the course of several threads. There will be a learning curve but I promise it's short. The most common question is, who can link the threads?

Well, there's two routes.

1. Either the same OP posts every chapter thread so they can link without Staff's help.
2. You ask Staff for help.

RPJ's and Admins alike can move threads around.

Also, lastly, once we see this in action - I can already tell you, you're gonna get annoyed that you can't collapse the menu for all the chapters. Especially if people get chapter heavy on Invasions. We're like, "early access"ing this. I'll put in the ability to minimize the menu, it should be pretty simple, I just wanted to yeet in these rules.

Here's some screencaps of it in action:

Out the gate with the first edit already:

1. All Invasion Chapters must have the Invasion prefix selected for their thread and at least one identifying monniker applied to the Chapter's title, ie planet, main thread title, Major Faction acronym vs Major Faction acronym, etc.
