SPECIAL FEATURES
Strengths:
• Hive Mind: The droid brains used by the Aristaeus Drones has been slightly modified. While a perfectly normal droid brain in most respects, the brain is programmed to allow the droids to form a hive mind. This hive mind in turn directs the various drones around their project. The more drones are part of the unit, the more powerful the hivemind, and in return the more significant tasks the drones can perform. As the number of drones increases they move from beyond basic labour to more intensive tasks, able to perform delicate electronic work etc. This works because of the hive set up, the droids can share their free processing power, allowing one droid to increase its processing power at the expense of others, allowing it to replicate the functions of more advanced engineering droids, or even replicate the functions of a crew member for a ship. The hive mind also ensures that each droid is aware of all parts of a project, allowing for a more efficient use of time and resources.
• Stronger than your average man: As a droid each individual droid is significantly stronger and tougher than an average human, allowing them to carry more weight, and survive situations which would injure one of their masters.
• Repair capable: The drones are constructed and programmed as standard labour and worker droids, capable of aw ide range of functions, although individually they are primarly used for pure labour needs.
• Link me up: Do to the nature of their hive minds the drones are capable of connecting to an advanced processor such as an AI or other system which can control them, imposing their will on the drones treating them like manifestations of the system’s will.
Weaknesses:
• Unarmed: The drones lack any weapons, unlike even an astromech droid
• Basic Armour: In a galaxy of easily available armour materials the Drones are simply built with a durasteel chassis, not built to withstand the potential damage of a military environment.
• ECM: The Drones rely very heavily on their ability to communicate with one another, making them very vulnerable to ECM blocking their communications.
• EMP: The Drones are amass-produced droid, without any thrills or frills, and as such have only basic EMP protection.
• One of us: The Drones share a communal hive mind, and as such, if one unit is compromised by a slicer the entire hive mind becomes vulnerable before the security software can adapt allowing a slicer to compromise the entire network.

DESCRIPTION

Military invention has always driven advancements in the civilian market, and the Aristaeus Drones were no different. Born out of the swarm program conducted by Locke and Key’s R&D department, the drones utilise the Legion Networking tool to allow the cheap mass-produced droids to work together on more complicated tasks, even sharing their processing power to allow them to complete more complicated tasks that might be left to a specialised engineering unit otherwise. Coupled with their Myomer muscles the drones are a useful droid capable of filling any niche in an industrial setting.
