TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS
Classification

SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Astracite crystal. Specifically an Aestherstone, an Astracite crystal exposed to the depths of the Netherworld of the Force for an extended period of time. This crystal produces a shimmering blade that bolsters the Force like Refined Astracite while also being capable of harming spirits. It is slightly less stable.
  • The lightsabre is bonded to Kyriaki's spirit, so it will not activate for others. Clearly a sign of her being 'blessed'. Whether she is based is another question.
  • Dual phase mode
  • Non-dimetris circuitry
  • Ornate hilt design and Sith runes.
  • Bifurcating Cyclical-Ignition Pulse
STRENGTHS
  • Standard lightsabre strengths.
  • Cortosis will not short the blade out, only block it.
  • Due to the use of a crystal exposed to the depths of the Netherworld, the lightsabre can harm spirits, like a Force-Imbued Blade would.
  • Bolsters Kyriaki's Force abilities. Kyriaki can also use this to tap into the crystal's connection to the realm of the dead by summoning a Nether demon such as a Shroud or Nether Ghoul.
WEAKNESSES
  • The summoning of a Nether being comes at a cost because it connects to her life force. If the summoned entity is destroyed, Kyriaki will not die herself, but suffer physical injury and be left weakened.
  • Possesses most customary weaknesses of a lightsabre. Namely a weakness in penetrating lightsabre-resistant alloys such as beskar, phrik, cortosis, and songsteel, as well Vonduun Skerr Kyrric and Amphistaffs.
  • Ssi-Ruuvi ion paddle beams can only be deflected by a lightsabre if it has been specially calibrated beforehand. It is unable to deflect blaster bolts while in that setting.
  • Lightsabres are weak at blocking conventional bullets (slug rounds etc.). This is, ironically, a particularly strong weakness on Tephrike because high-calibre slugthrowers are more common than blasters.
DESCRIPTION

For millennia, a lightsabre has been the emblematic weapon of Jedi and Sith alike. An elegant weapon...for a more civilised age. Today they have become so widespread in the greater galaxy that possessing such a weapon has become an almost banal affair. It is even possible for private corporations to produce them en masse, for all those who cannot be bothered to go on uplifting spiritual quests.

On Tephrike, lightsabres are incredibly rare. The typical weapon of a Jedi Knight or Sith Lord is an alchemised blade. The few lightsabres that exist on the Dark Age planet are regarded with a sense of almost superstitious awe. Kyriaki, reluctant Disciple of the Vader and deceitful Sith hater, decided to exploit said awe following an encounter with the enigmatic Kal of Masque. The Shadow was on a quest to discreetly inconvenience the Vaderites to teach them a lesson about their manifold crimes and explore the planet's many nexuse for academic research.

Kyriaki sensed opportunity in working with the 'galactic xenox conspiracy'. The two happened to meet on Chios, an island where the Vaderites had carried out a brutal genocide against the native alien population and turned their land into living space for loyal humans settlers. However, the spirits of the dead did not rest easily. The savage genocide had birthed a vengeful nexus. The pair worked together to exacerbate the hauntings, culminating in a large-scale attack where spirits and Shrouds attacked Vaderite soldiers and engineers in the process of setting up a psychic protection shield to ward the town.

During the climactic moment of the engagement, Kyriaki faced an Arch-Shroud, a most dangerous Nether demon. She was disarmed, her enchanted was shattered and all seemed lost, but she defiantly uttered a melodramatic prayer to the Great Vader. In a cloud of black smoke, a lightsabre suddenly appeared in her grasp and she slew the abomination. Of course, in truth Vader had absolutely nothing to do with any of this. The contest had been stage-managed, though some of the pain she was in was very real, and the demon was sabotaged at the crucial moment. But people believe what they want to believe, and the contest tapped into the spiritual expectations and cultural norms of Vaderite society. Clearly she was 'blessed'.

The lightsabre was forged by a long-dead Sith Lord. The enigmatic Shadow happened to have it in his vault, having come into its possession through unknown means, but he significantly improved upon its design as part of his bargain with Kyriaki. In return, the somewhat self-destructive clone gave him one of her few happy memories, which would eventually birth a Shade. Kyriaki called the lightsabre the Crimson Talon of the Dark Father's Grace. Tephriki are almost universally in love with overly fancy, flowery names. Besides, it was supposed to be an especially blessed weapon. A Sith lightsaber of yore, it is marked by battle yet eminently functional.

Rather than a standard kyber crystal, the weapon uses Aetherstone, a type of Astracite crystal with a connection to the Netherworld. It was an obvious choice since it allows the wielder to damage spirits. Endowed with alchemical runes, a link to the spirit realm and Force-bolstering qualities, the blade allows Kyriaki to summon a Nether demon to aid her. However, this summoning comes at a price, for the demon connects to her life force in a manner similar to a Force phantom. Destroying the demon will not kill her, but inflict some kind of physical injury and weaken her.

Not long after the incident, a rival Sith tried to take the blade from her. Disarming Kyriaki was actually quite easy since she was a poor swordswoman and, moreover, had not received any lightsabre training. However, due to the mystical bond, the blade didn't activate for her attacker. Kyriaki mentally activated the lightsabre and cut his leg off.
