Flash bulbs were popping off left right and centre as the attendees gathered to watch tonight's show, a number of high profile members of the fashion establishment had managed to get the press involved in this event and they had turned up in droves to this beautiful hall in the Upcity district of Denon. Mairéad was absolutely revelling in this pageantry of it all.

Untitled611_20230228203554.png
This was a special night for Mairéad Solus, it was the culmination of a project she had been working on for a while, building up a staffer team and liaising with some renowned designers, along with several unknown designers that she felt needed a shot. Tonight was the official launch of the MS Apparel brand of clothing, most specifically the Debutante collection of clothing. The Everyday collection having had a soft launch several weeks before to both get her name into the industry and begin the process of fulfilling advance orders.

Tonight however was the first chance for many vendors to get their hands on her product and also to see it worn as she imagined it in her vision. Mairéad strolled out across in front of a large blue board that was displaying her company emblem, holding one of extravagant leather bound catalogues that also served as timetable and souvenir of tonight's event. She had several more photos taken before being whisked behind the scenes to have one last check with the models. Mairéad, a former slave always had a policy of paying top wages to all of her staff and liked to ensure that they were well looked after, a trait she had in common with her mentor and business associate Marcella Fiora Marcella Fiora , a woman that Mairéad had a lot to thank for. She looked across at the two smaller catwalks where the everyday collection was already being paraded for the clientele but within the next thirty minutes, the lights would go down and the main event would begin. "Right everyone, you're all looking amazing, if anyone isn't happy with their fitting, please get it checked by the seam team.

Work hard out there, make me proud."
she raised her glass, it was sparkling water, the same as the other staff would be drinking, once the show was over they could all let their hair down a little, but right now it was all business.

As things started heating up, Mairéad took a little moment for herself to breath, she was here to oversee her creations, but her stage managers were doing a wonderful job of actually running the show. She decided to take a peek through a discrete periscope which showed a view of the crowd, it was a packed house, she spotted a few members of The Family it was good to have their support out there for her first big show.

This is a legitimate business interest owned by a women who just happens to be in the Mafia, there is no underhand tricks planned.

Denon is within GA space, but has its own independent and fairly corrupt government, if your credits are good, noone is going to be turning you over to the Jedi.

Miri had never done anything like this before. But desperate times call for desperate measures - or at least, she was more open to trying new things.

She had heard a few horror stories about models being made to wear shoes that didn't fit right, leading to them falling and injuring themselves on the runway. But Mairéad Solus Mairéad Solus seemed to genuinely care about the wellbeing of her employees, and by extension wanted to make a good impression on the industry.

That didn't make wearing heels any more comfortable, but at least they were the proper size for Miri's feet. She had spent the past several minutes taking them on a test drive, strutting up and down the back rooms while a stylist trailed after her, trying to tame her curly hair.

Mairéad's speech brought her pacing to a halt as they all stopped to listen. Miri gave the dress she was modeling a quick once-over, before she headed out onto the runway to do what she was being paid to do.

It'd been all too long since Saryn had attended a fashion show like this. The civil war raging in Sith space had called forth much of his attention, and he was eager to get away for a while to get some much needed relaxation. Now would be the perfect opportunity. The ever effeminate Sith Lord had arrived at the festivities garbed in a backless golden cocktail dress with matching high heels, eager to show off his, as usual, elegant and feminine sense of style. He was tailed by his ever loyal protector and his intended entry for the fashion show as a model, Lucia Naberrie Lucia Naberrie , as well as four SB-X Droid Commandos painted in the diplomatic livery of House Naberrie for added security. Even at occasions such as these he could not afford to be careless about his personal security. Ophidia had eyes everywhere, after all.

He and his entourage made their way over to the bar not far from the stage. "Wine for myself and my lovely friend here.", he said, gesturing to 410, before turning to peer at the models strutting their stuff up and down the stage, eager to see what the new trends were. "I hope that dress is comfortable for you, 410. I know it's a change from your usual combat panopoly. Are you ready to present yourself to Miss Solus for the show? I'm eager to show you off to the corporate executives. They'll be gobsmacked when they find out you're a HRD.", he said with a smile.

Some great deal of pride washed over Marcy' as she looked over the venue floor, thrilled that Mai' was to finally debut her entry into the fashion retail sector, marking her true entry into the volatile society of ruthless corporations, a dangerous yet highly profitable game.

Marcy' made it a point to make her presence known backstage and to compliment her business partner & underboss on the quality of her event; "
Mai'!" she called out once the fashionista had concluded her pep talk to her team, clinking her glass of malbec with hers..

"
Lovely~ just lovely, I'm expectin' quite a few friends of ours to show up shortly," she paused, eyeing the models scurrying around backstage, "need anythin'? I'll get out' your hair shortly." smirked the mafioso, aware of how busy her associate was.

Ever since her ascent over Goros in the cartel Tadietti was used to wearing the best, but tonight….

Her Cartel Cadre was dressed to impress, personally pulling in a favor from one of the Lysker fashion line, and having the designer make a half dozen dresses just for her. They ranged from exotic rim world styles, with culturally inspired designs, to finely embroidered lace core classics. The twi'leks came in all colors, from Rutian Blue, to rare Lethan Red, and every color in between.

As for Tadietti, she wore a beautiful black and gold, high-low dress, in a hand-woven floral design. Intricate lace over soft syncloth. Supported by armorweave sheets subtly pressed between the fabric. The edge of her thighs were just visible at the front, and covered at the back, with soft black knee-high boots on show. Amongst the subtle delicate jewelry that she wore, there were weapons but none on display. Her many cadre members were all twi'leks and as charming as they were deadly. Handpicked for their lethality as much as their disarming beauty. A necessity in her line of work.

As she passed, she gave Darth Xyrah Darth Xyrah a polite nod, just for the level of security he'd brought with him, it matched her own and so respect was necessary. Moving to a luxurious table close to the stage, but back to the wall of course, so Blue could see any potential threats before they came.

The largest with her, Sienn, a muscular red Lethan, checked the table by giving it a scan and stood to the side. The purple dancer twins Opel and Kinsa sat on either side ready to play. Pretty but bookish green Aeyih'dira took her datapad out, and the yellow-skinned Pima was off being Pima, chatting up the nearby locals for information.

One of her ladies would be in the back with the others getting ready, assuming the offer had been accepted by Mairéad Solus Mairéad Solus . A tall especially attractive lavender twi'lek named Pejgoci. A professional supermodel with her own agent before Blue had hired her. One of the newest of her girls, but very good at looking good in just about anything. Pejgoci smiled politely to Miri Nimdok first and then Marcella Fiora Marcella Fiora as she got ready, putting the finishing touches on her makeup.

It was not particularly often that Senator Laborr left his stronghold on Skako unless it was for senate sessions or emergency business dealings with the other representatives of the Trade Federation. But on this particular occasion, his backdoor connections came in handy when meeting with members of the Corporate Authorities of Denon about various issues. He had learned of a fashion show being hosted and curiosity got the better of him. The price of entry was steep that no regular patron could have attended, but as a senator of the galactic alliance, he did get a hefty salary to spend on essential services in the name of the people.

With the unfortunate closure of the Second Great Hyperspace War after the victorious campaign on Exegol. The Trade Federation's profit margins within the war sector of the alliance had been weakening this quarter and Laborr wished to rectify this by attending the event to invest in the fashion sector which would prove quite lucrative. Moving through the already-packed hall, Laborr sat next to his skakoan aide at a far-reaching table.

"Sir?, Do you think that showing up here at this event is wise?" The aide then asked a quite valid question. "Certainly, there is little chance of violence and even then they will think twice about assassinating a politician among so many bystanders," Laborr answered in his usual monotone voice.

Click, click.

Swish.

A burnt sienna velvet and clear rhinestone dress, and a pair of high stiletto heels snaked between the rows of already-occupied seats. As they approached a particular suit, he sat up straight. "Look who's back," he drawled as he angled his legs to one side out of the aisle, offered her his hand, and guided her into the seat that was saved for her.

" Wynter Rackham Wynter Rackham didn't steal me away from you," she replied, eyes front towards the catwalk as she smoothed out her lap.

Damris glanced over his shoulder. "I thought he might be here."

A soft laugh came from the headmistress. "He's made it very clear that he's no arborist."

Silence followed for a beat. Then, "...Ah."

"But I am," she said quickly, as if that needed saying. "A few saplings need watering so here I am."

Damris nodded. "Yes, you are." He slid a hand over the partition and onto her knee. "But are you okay?"

Pursing her lips, Malcoma straightened up. It appeared fashion was not the only show being put on in this house. "My Denon problem's been taken care of," she said matter-of-factly. "This planet holds nothing over me any longer."

Upcity rarely saw such grandeur... preferring to be just the marketplace district, and helped that Darkwire and most of the other corporations stayed away. The invisible market, serving much more with its clients. Her dress looking partially traditional and hair hanging over her shoulders when she walked the upper walkways of the district. Able to look across it and towards the show. She had invited the senator if only to well show her a time in Upcity for the glitz and glamour.... also a chance for the ones here to really shine when the wealthy come out with all of their clothing for a fashion show. "Worth it." She said it to herself and walked among the throngs down the pathway to the hall where she would be seated.

The Nautolan entrepreneur, smuggler and self-styled lady stepped from the chauffeured speeder and entered the beautifully appointed venue. Yu had opted for a simple dress rather than being ostentatious, for the night belonged to Mairéad and her lovely creations. Yu did choose a high-slitted garment that would accentuate the emerald-skinned Nautolan's lean, fit swimmer's legs. Ornate ebony bands encircled several of her designer-marked head tendrils. For perhaps once in her life, Yu had no weapons stashed upon her. There was precious little room to conceal arms anyway.

As Yu glided into the mix, it was clear that the show was about more than Mairéad's fashion, it was an opportunity for the elite to flex their affluence. The more retainers in tow, the more power you projected. Yu's large, dark eyes glided over the gorgeous CEO of Enarc and his retinue, there would be a charming one to meet. Then Yu found herself admiring a stunning Twi'lek and her followers. Yu believed she knew the woman from reputation, if not by face.

Yu, for her part, had only one attendant present, her Major-Domo Isabella Tam. The woman was a progeny of business acumen and loyal to a fault, but was a chronic workaholic. It took quite a bit of convincing for Yu to persuade Isabella to put on anything but a business suit and do something social.

With a nod to the Skakoan diplomat, and brushing past a beautiful Atrisian in black, Yu sought out seating for her and her COO. She assumed Mairéad would be back stage, and Marcella with her. She also spotted Malcoma, a Family member who Yu had not had the pleasure of interacting with. Perhaps she would that night, if the throng of patrons between them could be navigated.

Maybe she was just a little short for a model.

Nevertheless, out of the hundreds, if not thousands of HRDs of her model who had already rolled off the assembly lines of the Naberrie Military Production Facility or Malsheem’s Droid Manufacturing Plants, Unit 410 had been the one chosen for this affair. She had been tasked not only with displaying clothes for the new Debutante Collection, but also modeling a new HRD model—herself one of them.

Accepting her master’s offered wine, Unit 410 quickly imbibed the beverage, not needing to worry about it compromising her functions.

“The dress is lovely, master.” Unit 410 answered, her tone almost flat. Indeed, it was certainly a change from her typical combat getup, but not one that was unwelcome. Any opportunity there was to serve her master was an exciting one, even for duties that weren’t exactly her usual assignments. Since her shakedown simulations had revealed a particular affinity for combat, those were the assignments she had been given. However, there were others who had been frequently tasked as servants, assistants, pilots, or companions, depending on what the simulations revealed. Even within a single model line, there were variations between individual units.

“Hopefully not too gobsmacked.” She continued, her implication left unsaid. A Kainate-produced HRD model which also operated as an assassin and a Jedi hunter modeling clothes in the Core might not be taken cleanly by some. So long as no one probed too deeply, the affair would pass smoothly.

After standing up on her toes to whisper her departure into Xyrah’s ear, the HRD made her way to the backstage area, displaying her chit to the security staff on duty as she did. Her pass listed not a name, but a designation: NHRD Type 2, Unit 410.

An N to cover the K.

As soon as she arrived backstage, the stylists were on her case. The dress she had arrived in was exchanged for a new outfit—a deep lavender tunic outfit made out of translucent fabric, cinched around her waist with a thick black belt. High-heeled boots elevated her stature by a staggering six inches, but it didn’t take long for the HRD’s balance circuits to adjust to her new center of gravity, as she found her rhythm with a walk down the practice runway.

It wouldn’t be long before it was her time to walk.

He much preferred this side of Denon to the slums.

Samuel was rarely a visitor of anything but the lower levels of Denon, and rarely here for anything except to pursue a new quarry. However, he saw fit today to show what support he could to an acquaintance. Dressed in his red-and-black suit and eschewing the armor that has been worn at all other times on the planet, he accompanied Marcella to the high-end place. A bodyguard was not necessary, per-say, it was merely easier to publicly present yourself by coming with your employer, rather than alone.

His gaze, ever-wary of his surroundings, did take a moment to appreciate the elegant walkway. It fell away to the Backstage, as he quietly followed in Marcella’s footsteps. It was true - Samuel's business ‘ventures’ differed so vastly that it meant he rarely interacted or spoke with Mairead, despite supporting the same individual. But it was a new experience, something that may or may not be enjoyable; Exel believed that there may as well be an attempt to see how he finds it.

As Marcella made way to the butt-end of the speech of the woman of the hour, call-outs were made, and he was not long behind.

“Miss Solus.” He greeted, in that muted and polite voice always used with a brief dip of his head. “You bring color to a side of Denon I haven’t seen yet. Congratulations on your opening night.” Likewise, he was brief given how busy the newfound fashionista would find herself in mere moments, but nonetheless extended his best wishes with what little time they had.

After 410 departed to prepare for her fashion show debut, Saryn curiously gazed at those gathered for the festivities. He took special note of Tadietti, shooting her a polite nod back when the Twi'lek noticed him. He took greater note of a particular new arrival, however. Senator Rulonom Laborr, of the Trade Federation. A very promising potential business contact, indeed. He took a sip of his drink, before strolling over to the Skakoan's table with his commando droid bodyguards in tow.

Upon arrival, he gently bowed his head. "Ahh. Senator Rulonom. I wasn't expecting to see the esteemed representative of the Trade Federation here at today's show. They've certainly designed some fine attire for the season, have they not? I hope you're enjoying yourself so far.", he said with a warm smile. A polite introduction was always a good one, in his line of work, and he was certainly curious as to if his own reputation amongst corporate leaders might have preceded him.

Xiann stood just to the side of the door to the main hall of the show. She had made a temporary stop to compose herself, she was not comfortable in such a fancy outfit nor at these extravagant events. She had attended them previously, but always as a guard or thief or some other scoundrel type, never a guest. This time was different however, she had come to support her… Was Mairéad Solus Mairéad Solus a friend? She had certainly helped ease the Twi’leks entry into their organisation and seemed nice enough, even on the job. A question for another time, either way she was here to support Mai in her new venture.

The woman patted down her dress and tugged the dress in a few places to make sure it was straight. She was stalling and she knew it. ‘Get on with it, it won’t be that hard.’ She thought as she straightened up, pulled back her shoulders and lifted her chin slightly, ‘Here we go.’ With a deep breath she stepped forward and walked through the main entrance way toward the crowd of people already gathered. ‘Remember, shoulders back, breathe with your chest and smile like you know exactly when the world will end. Never fails.’

Xiann strode into the crowd like she owned the place, willing every fibre of her being to extrude elegance and confidence. She wanted to look like she belonged there, even if she felt the opposite. A glass of bubbly found its way into her hand from a passing server and the twi’lek found a lovely spot to stand where she could view most people in the room as well as the catwalks. She saw a few faces she recognised from files her Capo had shared with her. She raised her glass and offered a slight nod of greeting to Yu Karloo and Malcoma Hesse Malcoma Hesse even though it was quite possible they would have no idea who she was.

Mairéad's eyes lit up when she heard a friendly voice and she turned round to see Marcella Fiora Marcella Fiora approaching her, drink on had. She looked good, she had relaxed her hair and it suited her. She gave a happy but smile and raised her eyebrows at the woman, she was very excited my Marcella knew she was nervous too, despite trying to hide it from everyone else.

"need anythin'? I'll get out' your hair shortly."

"A good drink in my hands afterwards would be fab," she laughed, "But right now I will just settle for a quick glance into future to make sure all this goes well." pushing her hair back behind her ear and blowing her stress out of her mouth she turned towards the models, watching as Miri Nimdok readied herself for her walk down the catwalk, the dress looked good, and Mai gave her the thumbs up and a smile of support before she vanished from sight.

It was then she spotted the discretely present Samuel Exel Samuel Exel who introduced himself formally. "Mr Exel, please, just call me Mai, or Mairéad if you don't like nicknames. Thank you for coming to the show." a Twi'lek walked past her, the employee of Tadietti Tann Tadietti Tann and something caught her eye, she put put her finger up to excuse herself momentarily, and walked over "Pejgoci, is it? Your lekku don't look quite comfortable, here, let me adjust the stitch a little." Mairéad had spent enough time around Stardust Solus Skirae Stardust Solus Skirae to know how sensitive those head tales could be, and all it took was her and one of her seam team to quickly adjust the high necked outfit and release tension on the skin. "Apologies, i'll make sure out team check their anatomy in future." she smiled and sent the lavender skinned woman on her way.

Speaking of anatomy, there really was a varied array of beings here, with several outfits being displayed by multiple models to give a sample of how the outfits might sit in different markets. A woman shorter than the average model but who looked amazing in the outfit she was modelling, her skin was immaculate too. Mai looked at the name on the register and turned back to her family members, " Lucia Naberrie Lucia Naberrie , quite the name, what do you think? Clone or droid?" she said to Marcella Fiora Marcella Fiora . "My money is on some kind of HRD, I've not seen one like that before but i hear that some models are virtually indistinguishable from organics." She smiled and shrugged. All that was important now is that she looked like she was enjoying herself and was making the best show of the selected outfit.

She let out a laugh. "You two should probably be out front to get a better view rather than watching me run around back here." Mairéad made a gesture to usher the two of them towards the front stage area if they wished to go. As she did she made a subtle Kosa Nostra gesture to Marcella, Samuel might get the impression it was being used but without being made would be unlikely to understand the meaning. <<Thank you again for everything. Your hair looks nice tonight.>>

And with that, the woman of the hour quickly had more tasks at hand.

"My Denon problem's been taken care of," she said matter-of-factly. "This planet holds nothing over me any longer."

A slow exhalation of cigarra smoke greeted the Headmistress' statement.

"The blood one of one's enemies is a small price, indeed, for freedom."

The speaker tapped the tip of her cigarra, sending a tiny cloud of ash falling to the floor.

Ivory Stroud, Donna of the Family, took the seat Damris offered, offering a nod in gratitude. The thudding beat washed over her; soaking her to the bone. The Donna crossed bare leg over the other, settling into the comfortably padded seat as she took in atmosphere. Mairéad Solus Mairéad Solus had done an excellent job, and was proving herself to be quite resourceful. The young woman, once enslaved, had found not only freedom within their little Family... but also, the metaphorical keys to the Galaxy. Ivory was immensely proud that Ms. Solus had taken the lessons she'd been given to heart.

Dipping her head low, the Capo De Tutti Capi - The Boss of Bosses - shielded her eyes from a sudden streak of bright light from one of the lasers emanating from the stage. The wide-brimmed hat (as much a symbol of her Station as the silver ring she wore) dipped low before rising again; directing her steely violet gaze across those roaming the catwalk. A tiny smile tugged at the corner of her lip.

Already, she was recognizing faces; catching glimpses of those familiar to her such as the bounty-hunter & part-time bartender Samuel Exel Samuel Exel , Xiann Sivron Xiann Sivron - one of their newer Associates & a highly-skilled slicer, her Caporegime & defacto Underboss Marcella Fiora Marcella Fiora , and Yu Karloo, a former privateer-turned-shipping mogul & one of The Family's most trusted Associates. The Nautolan, a few rows away, briefly glanced in The Donna's & Malcoma's direction; giving them a nod of greeting which Ivory returned.

"Quite the showing-out, this evening." She said, directing the statement toward the lovely Ms. Hesse.

Out of nowhere, a hand suddenly rested on Ivory's shoulder... firm, but polite. Only a few souls in the Galaxy could approach so casually, or dare to physically call her attention in such a manner.

Shifting in her seat and glancing upward, she found herself staring into the hardened eyes of Stephen Rohr - one of The Black Oak's most loyal (and skilled) bodyguards. The older gentleman looked breathtakingly handsome, sporting a dark blue suit, and an expensive gold wrist-chron. For a man in his early 60's, he carried himself with a poise & professionalism - a reserved & relaxed readiness that allowed him to blend invisibly into any crowd... though Ivory knew from personal experience that he would be the first to show his fangs if the old wolf found it necessary.

The two made eye-contact, with Stephen bending down to whisper quietly into her ear... a message for her, and her alone.

Such subtlety was to be expected, especially in public, where there were eyes & ears everywhere.

The Donna dipped her head to conceal the conversation, feeling Stephen's breath graze across the raven-black hair at the name of her neck - having to suppress a shiver at the sensation to her mild excitement.

Once the message had been delivered, they again made eye-contact, with The Donna passing on a quiet instruction. With a final, affectionate squeeze, Rohr departed to see her order be fulfilled.

Following the brief exchange, Ivory turned back toward Malcoma & Damris, flashing a pleasant smile before glancing beyond them... up into one of the private booths, who's occupants could witness the event within their own cocoon of safety. Immediately, she found her quarry; one Rulonom Laborr Rulonom Laborr , Senator of Skako. In the raging maelstrom of light & sound, it was highly unlikely the suited being would notice her, as she would easily blend into the crowd.

Such was the way of The Black Oak, and La Kosa Nostra.

HlLr6G6.png

Two members of event staff would approach Senator Laborr's private booth bearing a silver platter, overflowing with a buffet of Hor d'Oeurves as well as two chilled (and unopened) bottles of Fiora 'Crystaal' champagne; an immensely expensive spirit produced by Fiora Vintners. If the Senator questioned the delivery, Staff would politely explain that the private service had been requested at the behest of one Mairéad Solus Mairéad Solus - the organizer of the event, with her compliments.

They would attend to whatever needs the Senator required without delay, but would otherwise wish he & his guests a most-pleasant evening.

The Senator from Skako did not have to wait long until someone of reputable interest approached his private booth for a bit of light conversation. A certain Darth Xyrah Darth Xyrah who gave a subtle bow of his head and started to speak about the fashion event that they were both attending. His skakoan aide was skeptical of the man as was natural when fearing for the senator's safety. Laborr was interested in sinking one of his claws into denon even though the Corporate Authorities of Denon held a tight grip that was proved unshakeable even with senate intervention.

"Making myself known to the Denon Populace is important even if it is only the wealthy here. As to the attire you mentioned, I can't appreciate them like most people can unfortunately as this pressure suit prevents me." Laborr explained with some rather off handed gestures, the skakoan species needed pressure suits to survive away from their homeworld and so fashion concerns were at the bottom of his list. He might be able to persuade some denon citizens to support a new federation outpost on the world.

"So tell me, Mr. Saryn. I doubt that you came here simply to exchange pleasantries?" A rather simple question but important for the conversation moving forward. Normal civilians rarely approached a senator of the alliance. Although while he was waiting for an answer to his inquiry a gift arrived in the form of two chilled and unopened bottles of Fiora 'Crystaal' Champagne, a quite expensive brand produced by Fiora Vintners.

He of course asked who had sent it, and received the answer that it was the host Mairéad Solus Mairéad Solus who had sent it to him. Laborr was grateful but he could not enjoy the beverages alone not with Mr. Sayrn standing here.

"Care you join me for a drink?" Another question and a gesture to the empty seats.

"Ahh, I'd be delighted!", Saryn said with a smile, joining them at their table. "And yes, you read my mind, as it were. As you are likely aware, my corporation, the Enarc Trade League, holds much sway in Sith space and the Outer Rim in terms of economics. However, I've been looking to seek out trade partners here in Alliance space. A fact that has been made slightly.....difficult, given my current political affiliations, officially. Which is why I wished to approach you today, Senator. I'm looking for a third party to sell ETL wares in Alliance space, and I feel the Trade Federation would be ideal for such an arrangement."

Saryn politely poured himself and the Senator some champagne from the bottle so generously sent by Mairéad Solus Mairéad Solus to the table. "It would be a fair arrangement. A fifty fifty split of all profits, so both parties are equally paid. Plus, I'm willing to sweeten the deal.", he said, reaching into his expensive looking purse to withdraw a small holo-emitter he slid to the center of the table. He activated it, revealing holographic designs for a modified variant of his SB-1 Battle Droid.

"I could provide the Trade Federation with new Battle Droid designs for your corporate defense forces, tailored to whatever needs you might require. Troops to build a new Droid Army for the Trade Federation like times of old. I can supply the designs, you'd just need to handle the actual assembly, given it would likely raise a few eyebrows if I shipped them in bulk over the Alliance border."

This was so fething WEIRD

She was way out of her usual environment...at a fashion show of all places! A lot of people here a lot of high end people and then there was star. Which course she was only here because her daughter Mairéad Solus Mairéad Solus was hosting this show and she wanted to be there for her and show her support for a rather nice looking setting.

Plus hey she could be there for added security! Unofficial of course, not that the official security needed to know about her weapons at all which for now just consisted of her sabers and a single blaster pistol, in any case star was setting off to the side simply watching idly. Everything seemed rather nice and she had to admit some of the dresses were great looking

A peck of Ubese is a group between five and less than 17 individuals, the name is for Consensus keeping because not all groups are pecks, and not all pecks are a clan which meant keeping track was a nightmare. Diocletian is in charge of a peck of 12 Ubese, each from a different clan, and a 50% gender split. This means the two streams of clothing will be modelled. Ladies wear and Men's wear.

The music is too loud to give instructions but they can sign to each other for instructions. That would work. But the task was to keep them coherent, the clothes were ready for them. A slight alteration to one of the dresses needed to be made and there were a few highly sugary honey-related bribes to the youngest of the peck to get her to wear a selection of the dresses.

You can't get a 16-year-old to do what you want them to do without an incentive, in her case, honey was the incentive. He should know, he can be just as stubborn as her. Which is how he got his job for today.

Anything the other species can do, the Ubese can do better, that is why they are here. He's not on the catwalk, but he is a wandering fashion advert, which keeps him in the show, and he in turn can supervise his peck without being a hindrance to the others.

Yes,” Malcoma agreed. “An impressive show of support. I expected nothing less, as I’m sure neither did you.” To the headmistress’ credit, her voice didn’t waver, even as she tacked on the last sentence as a disclaimer of sorts, but Damris could feel the muscles of her thigh wind up with anticipation. It was to be expected though; the two benevolent slave traders had known of the Donna’s intention to accompany them to the night’s show. The exquisite pen-and-paper invite had arrived at the Guesthouse exactly one day after Malcoma’s unannounced return from her vacation.

The walls did have eyes.

Metaphorical tail still tucked between her legs from being told off at her last Family meeting, it was beyond time for her to make another public appearance. It took a little convincing from a few of her girls as Damris went on ahead of her to reserved three seats in a row, both in the form of pepping words and a new dress, but she got ready and followed his lead.

Onique’s words in specific echoed in her head all the while: ”Malcoma, you teach us to overcome our traumas. Don’t turn around and let yours get the best of you.

A pause stretched between the trio as a messenger relayed some new development to the dark-haired woman. When Rohr had gone and Ivory had glanced off into the crowd at the Senator, Malcoma decided to take a chance. “What was that about?
