Coruscant
1846 Local Time

OOC Note:

The premise of the thread is that you are an old friend of Nej's. Previous pals of Nej are welcome, but new people are welcome to! Your character just has to have had known Nej at some point, and liked him enough to give him a reason to come back. Did they leave on good terms? Nej steal something from them? Nej leave them high and dry? Or did he save their butts and they really do owe him one? Up to you!

Nej booked it around the corner, checking behind him. They were still coming after him. Not boys in blue, but worse. Nej slid on the wet ground, rocket boots boosting him further. He ran hard and fast, turning corners and hopping fences in the alleyways and narrow streets of the sublevels of Coruscant. His old friend lived- or maybe just had a safehouse of sorts. But they went way back with Nej-

And Nej was counting that they were both home, and willing to help. Home, he could at least dry off and have a quick reunion before dipping again. Willing to help too? Even better. But, with the Hutt thugs chasing him, he considered that maybe he wasn't going to be the most welcome. Especially since it was that part of the night where people were winding down, mentally preparing to sleep, or truthfully enjoying their time alone. Or maybe they were with someone?

He hadn't seen them in a while, so.

Coulda been a lot.

Getting into the apartment building was a breeze for a professional thief, and he gave the thugs the slip. Thugs who probably were going to get beaten by their boss. But they worked for a dick, so he couldn't care less what happened to them. Besides, he was probably gonna shoot them if they got too close. Which would have just put a lot of heat on them. Nej slipped into the hallways, passing by a few other people, busy or coming home, going to work, or whatever else people did on the fancy giant-city planet.

And he knocked on his old friend's door, a little wet from the rain- and hoped they were home.

Knocking came from the apartment door. Usually Mute didn't get many visitors. The violence and speed of the knocks showed it was someone who was either angry, wanted help, or were just fucking with Kyor. Grabbing his pistol, holding it to the side, He looked through the peep hole of the door. Seeing the mask of an individual. May as well see what he wants. Otherwise, today is going to be not just doing cleaning around the apartment, but cleaning up a body. Opening the door, but standing just enough out of sight with his right side in the frame of the door to hide the weapon in his hand.

Opening it, Showed that it wasn't just anyone. Nej was standing there. Breathing heavier than normal, and wet with rain from outside. He was running from someone. Since some of the Hutts like to do business around here every so often, and Nej seemed to have trouble as a Shadow, Kyor just reached out to his upper arm and gently pulled on Nej to bring him inside the apartment. Head sticking out and looking down the halls for a moment. Just others who lived on this floor. Closing the door behind him, Just a few words came out of his mouth. Monotone as though he had done this many times before.

"Wipe your feet."

The pistol was placed back on the little table were other basic things were. Keys, a wallet, a ball cap. basic going out items. Turning around, Kyor locked the door and turned on the security system he had installed. Making sure that the tripwire laser alarms were active, and the cameras were recording if anything would happen outside.

Reaching to the coat rack, He pulled a towel that was kept there just in case one was wet, and tossed it to the man. Sliding past him through the entry way and letting Nej dry himself off.

"Dry off. Kitchen has food and drinks."

In the background, one could hear the whining of a dog. It wanted out of a room in the back, but would get no such reprieve for now.

"What happened?"

Nej was a man of action, a man of too many words. His friend (sort of friend) Kyor "Mute" Jaeirr Kyor "Mute" Jaeirr , was not. It's what made their friendship so great! Nej did all the talking he wanted, and Kyor didn't. Just didn't. Or just stared. The guy did a lot of staring.

Nej took a breather, placing his hands on his knees to catch his breath.

"Okay so, remember how I owed a bunch of money to Hutts? Well they died, and then new Hutts took over- anyways, long story short- I stole this.." He pulled an eerie device from his jacket pocket-

An ancient Sith holocron. From the very device, even though neither of them were attuned to the force, it emanated some form of darkness, some form of heebie-jeebie. He wiped himself with the towel, listening close to the door. The Hunters were outside.

"And I don't know if the people outside are with the Hutts or worse."

He looked at him. Nej was looking remarkably well for a man who was almost in his 60s now. Too well.

"....You cooking or am I?"

The man just stood there as Nej took a holocron out of his jacket. Not just any holocron, one that had a sinister red glow, and the pyramid shape of the Sith. Kyor knew what they were. Working with the Corellian Confederation's Green Jedi, as well as when the merger was done with the Galactic Alliance and the New Jedi Order, He had seen his fair share of them behind cases, or in descriptions. Never one within arms reach. More over, it was one stolen from the hutts who he owed credits to. Nej wasn't just grabbing a rancor bull by the horns, but by the balls at this point.

Kyor quickly closed the distance and shoved Nej's hand back into his jacket before reaching over to the wall. Throwing switches to close the blinds to the room. It went dark for a moment before lights came on. All before Kyor's blue eyes just looked at Nej like blaster weapons through his skull. A deep breath with a long sigh before shaking his head.

"Trouble is your mistress Nej."

Indicators were popping up with movement in the halls. People going around looking for Nej trying to figure out where he went.

"My lunch was interrupted. You cook."

The man didn't really wait. Starting to walk down the hallway of his apartment to a room. Opening it up showed a common K9 in a kennel that wanted to be out, but also from the distance, could clearly see that the man had a "prepping room" where weaponry was kept. In a profession where men had to keep these arms on them, it was best to keep it locked, but ready. Starting to reach over his head in the shelf, pulling down a rather large footlocker, it slammed hard onto the ground. The lid flipped open haphazardly.

Kyor just started undressing. Going down to just his birthday suit so he could throw on the under layers of his Combat armor. If there was going to be a skirmish, Kyor wasn't dying in his pajamas. It didn't take very long to throw it all on. The man was a GA Pathfinder. Essentially, the man they drop in first. He had to be ready as quick as possible for any situation that came up. So everything from the suit itself, to the armor plating that was hermetically sealed onto the suit. and finally the helmet slipping over his dome and hissing closed to indicate a complete seal.

Lights came on and function checks for the armor were going through it's paces while the Pathfinder started grabbing his weapons. Throwing them onto the mag-locks around his body. Even grabbing some ordinance, and extra ammo for his various weapons. His softer bare foot tapping from earlier, was now replaced with a heavy thud of a fully loaded, and kitted individual who was quite literally prepared for a war.

Coming back into the living room, the door closing behind him and locking, His frame shifting to the door to grab the pistol he had earlier. Replacing it into the holster on his thigh.

"Now am I to bail you out, or fix the problem?"

Depending on the situation, and the answer to the question, bailing could just be taking him safely away to a new location for him to leave the planet and let the hutts cool off. Fixing the problem, could be anything from returning the artifact, to outright fighting the Hutts. Either of which Kyor seemed to be willing to do. Just at the drop.
