Duel Getting Used To the New Place

Moving away from Coruscant was a rough transition. Part of it was getting his bandmates safe. They had been sent to Fondor ahead of time, with the help of Jonyna Si Jonyna Si and her company. Part of him wanted to thank her, but it always felt weird talking to her.

For now though, he tried to make himself feel at home in this new place. A mobile temple, designed to keep the jedi safe. Maybe it was better this way, away from the distractions of Coruscant. Still, it made him feel lonely.

Once again, he basically lived in the training dojo. Braze had offered to be a sparring partner this time, and he knew he needed someone to keep him busy.

"So, you ready?" The boy asked, holding out an empty hand. He had grown accustomed to starting his fights with no weapons out.

"If we're doing hand-to-hand, then sure," Braze said as he stretched out. He wore an odd-looking exoskeleton brace on his left arm. Braze needed something to keep his mind off his troubles, and interacting with someone else would be good for him. He could only take being bested by Aether so many times. Nir would do nicely for a change pf pace.

"Oh, uh....yeah, we can do hand to hand, sure." Nir wondered if Braze had forgotten what Nir's main Force ability was, but no matter. Nir was a Cathar, and he knew he had the advantage here. Two inches, and probably a good few pounds on Braze. Braze didn't exactly strike Nir as a heavyweight, then again, it would come down to technique...

Here's hoping Nir's training would pay off...

The boy shifted his stance, taking a traditional Cathar starting stance.

Braze responded confidently, masking any concern with a slight grin. "Hand to hand it is, then," he'd say, eyeing Nir's stance and size advantage with a strategic eye.
Braze would normally make some snarky comment here like ;

'I've faced bigger foes, Nir. It's not just about size, you know—it's about how well you use what you've got.'

But no such comment came from the half Echani youth. He offered Nir a respective bow drawing his hands together. He then set about detaching his arm brace on his left arm and disengaged it from the cybernetics. He set it aside in a safe spot and drew his arm up and tucked his wrist in to his outer coat.

Braze returned to the center of their ring and shifted into a balanced fighting stance, feet shoulder-width apart, one foot slightly ahead of the other for mobility. His body turns to present a smaller target while his working hand came up, ready to grab or deflect. His posture is relaxed yet alert, indicating a readiness to leverage his opponent's force against them—an approach focusing on efficiency and control rather than brute strength.

"Let's have some fun yeah?" Braze added lightly.

The boy slowly circled Braze Braze , waiting for the right moment. He'd always been the first one to make a move, and yet-

A spinning low kick. Nir spun around, trying to use his taller height to engage Braze from a distance, powerful Denik legs, built to hook into the bark of a city-tree, snapped forward in a kick aimed for Braze's forward leg. Nir hoped he could knock the boy off balance early on.

Braze shifted his stance as Nir spun around, momentarily turning his back. That fleeting moment was all Braze needed. He advanced swiftly, targeting a precise kick at the back of Nir's knee—the leg Nir was balanced on—in an attempt to topple him first.

The kick worked...at first. Nir buckled, only for his tail to coil and catch him, resulting in the boy balancing entirely on it, and shifting his target from Braze's leg to his head, before springing off his tail with a burst of wind at the last second, and going for a downward punch to Braze's skull.

The moment Nir's fist came down, Braze knew the strike was too swift to dodge completely. The impact was sharp, a jolt of pain shot through his skull, causing his vision to blur momentarily. As he staggered back, his training kicked in, using the momentum to roll backwards and regain his stance.

Rubbing the spot where Nir's punch landed, Braze couldn't help but chuckle, "Nice one, Nir. You've got a good arm there," he said, shaking his head slightly to clear the last of the dizziness.

With a swift movement, he reset his stance, his eyes now more focused. This time, he planned to close the distance quickly, aiming to use his agility to outmaneuver Nir as he launched a set of quick sharp attacks rapid fire.

All he could do is step back, further and further. Wait it out. Wait for an opportunity.

Suddenly, he threw his left leg up, attempting to wrap it around Braze's right arm and use his weight to bring him to the ground.

Braze's movements were uncharacteristically sluggish, and his reactions lacked their usual sharpness. Before he could process what was happening Nir executed a swift and unexpected maneuver. With agility and precision, Nir wrapped his leg around Braze's arm, leveraging his momentum. Braze's eyes widened in surprise, but it was too late. He hit the flor, hard, the impact jarring him. The surprise and force of the take down left him momentarily winded. He couldn't exactly tap either as his left arm was pinned beneath him.

Braze's body relaxed as his opponent released his arm, and he took a moment to gather himself, rolling onto his side before pushing himself up to a sitting position. Gratefully, he accepted the offered hand, using it as leverage to stand back up.

"Yeah, I'm fine," he said simply, a hint of appreciation in his tone. "Thanks." With a shake of his head, he tried to dispel the lingering effects of the tussle, much like a wet dog might shake off water after a swim.

With a determined air, Braze settled back into his fighting stance, ready to dive back into the fray. The brief pause had done little to dampen his resolve, and he was eager to resume the challenge, his focus sharpening as he awaited his opponent's next move.

Nir eyed the boy curiously as he took a fighting stance again.

"You're a tenacious one, ain't ya?"
He smirked, getting ready. Once more, he circled Braze Braze with a keen eye. But this time, he made the first move. A simple jab to Braze's chest, to test his defenses.

Braze took a deliberate step back, his movements more calculated than usual. Instead of his typical rapid-fire counters or an unexpected arm lock, he chose a different tactic. With practiced ease, he absorbed the incoming force with a defensive block, transforming the kinetic energy into controlled motion as he slid closer to his opponent.

His approach this time was slow and methodical, markedly different from his usual style characterized by high-speed redirects followed by a flurry of counterattacks. The change in his rhythm was strategic, designed to conserve his energy and unsettle his adversary by altering the expected pattern of engagement.

As he moved in, there was a subtle feint to suggest a counter might follow, but he did not commit to it. Instead, he remained fluid.

As Braze pushed into his space, Nir knew it was dangerous. He knew he had to keep the pace. So instead of attack, he silently pulled his tail out of his coat, shifted ever so slightly...and grabbed Braze's leg, pulling on it hard to knock him on his back.
