STRENGTHS
  • Fire Starts to Burn: Leveraging a thermite-based incendiary composition, the bomb delivers extraordinary damage through extreme temperatures, capable of obliterating fortified positions, eliminating deeply entrenched enemies, destroying large concentrations of enemies, and clearing out large areas of foliage.
  • Setting the World on Fire: The Purgatory Bomb's design enables a significant area of effect, capable of covering extensive portions of the battlefield with intense thermite-induced fire. This characteristic makes it especially potent against sprawling formations of adversaries, providing unmatched area denial capabilities.
  • Fury of the Bombers: Tailored for swift release from aerial platforms, the bomb's rapid deployment mechanism ensures timely and efficient use in dynamic combat scenarios, offering the Galactic Alliance a highly adaptable weapon.
WEAKNESSES
  • All Has Been Lost: The Purgatory bomb is designed to clear a large area quickly and with extremely potent flames. This can potentially cause significant collateral and ecological damage, and so a commander must be extremely careful before employing this weapon on the battlefield that he would like to occupy afterwards
  • Burning Friend and Foe: This is a battlefield-scale incendiary weapon that spews flaming gel across a truly massive area, capable of burning absolutely everything in the affected zone. Unless one's troops are especially shielded against such a hellacious environment, they would be best advised to use this only at the beginning of an invasion - or as a last resort against an overwhelming enemy
  • We Burn: This is a weapon of immense power and with a wide area of effect - while such a weapon is extremely useful against military targets, mindless hordes, or in clearing out the densely-packed foliage of a planet like Yavin IV or Felucia - using such a weapon on an civilian target or in an urban area is unambiguously a war crime, and any commander who commits such an act should expect stiff consequences both from their superiors and in their standing among the galaxy at large.
DESCRIPTION
In an era where the galaxy enjoys a semblance of peace, the guardians of this tranquility know all too well the price of preparedness. It's a universe where potential threats loom on the horizon, ever ready to disrupt the hard-won order. In anticipation of such challenges, the arsenal of the "good guys" must evolve, not just to meet these threats head-on but to carry the battle to their doorsteps, shattering their defenses. This principle has guided Incom-Freitek-Koensayr Incorporated (IFK Inc) in crafting their latest contribution to the Galactic Alliance's military might: the IFX-38T "Purgatory" bomb.

Conceived as a beacon of deterrence, the Purgatory bomb is a marvel of ordnance engineering. Its essence lies not in subtlety but in sheer, unbridled power. Designed to decimate hordes of adversaries—be they swarms of ravenous insectoids on remote jungle planets or relentless undead legions that conventional weapons barely dent—this weapon promises not just victory, but annihilation of the enemy's will to fight. Central to the Purgatory bomb's design is its lethal payload: a Plasticene-Thermite Gel, encapsulated within a durasteel shell robust enough to survive the descent through atmospheric conditions. Upon activation, its proximity fuse ensures an airburst release, dispersing a rain of fire over a battlefield-wide area. This incendiary deluge obliterates entrenched foes, clears dense foliage for troop movements, and transforms the terrain into a no-man's land, denying any advantage the enemy might have leveraged.

Yet, with such power comes responsibility. The Purgatory bomb's indiscriminate fury poses a significant risk to ecological sanctity and civilian safety. Its deployment is a testament to the gravity of the decision to use force, a balance between strategic necessity and the ethical mandate to minimize harm. Thus, its use is carefully regulated, a weapon of last resort when all other options falter. The "Purgatory bomb" is more than a tool of war; it's a statement. It embodies the Galactic Alliance's commitment to defending peace and order against all odds. It serves as a reminder that in the quest to safeguard the galaxy, innovation and power must be tempered with wisdom and restraint.
