Jesrix Aevin
Character
Aevin stood, eyes closed, in the middle of six training droids. He ignited his lightsaber and the fight began. He kept his eyes closed as his weapon danced from hand to hand. He defeated the droids without looking. “Master.” Aevin didn’t notice the call “Master!”
“If you’re referring to me, you are neither my Padawan, nor do I hold the rank of Master.” He kept his eyes closed. The young apprentice who had been calling turned away. “Did I say you must leave? What do you need?”
“How did you- your eyes are closed.”
“I see with the Force. Take a lesson from the Miraluka. They need no eyes to see perfectly.”
“Right. Right. I was hoping you could teach me to use a lightsaber.” Aevin sighed and opened his eyes. A scrawny young man stood before him.
“Come.” The apprentice stepped forward. Aevin reached out a hand and called a training blade to it. The younger Jedi had brought his own. “This once I will allow you to ready yourself.” The apprentice took a standard Shii-Cho stance. Predictable. With a howl, Aevin launched at him, striking him several times before knocking him to the ground. “I can’t learn with a full blown knight going full bore at me!”
“You can’t learn if you’re determined to fail.” These words hurt. “What mistake did you make?”
“Footing.”
“Specifically.”
“I had too much distance between my feet, too much weight on my front foot, and was watching my feet for half the time.”
“Now you’re learning. Get up.”
