- Skirmishing and Policing: Meant as the standard issued armor for the footsoldiers of the Inquisition, decent protection while maintaining relatively light weight are priorities given the nature of the Troopers as internal security forces. The ITA-01 is almost perfectly designed for quick and small scale engagements in a variety of environments as a result, allowing for quick deployment with adequate protection for the Troopers tasked with keeping the Sith Order safe and secure.
- Multipurpose and Multifunctional: The armor itself is fairly simple with only a few special features and additions, most of it being kept standard in order to make it easy and quick to produce. To compensate for the lacking specialty, a dedicated line of support equipment is produced that can easily be applied to the armor as is needed. More elaborate breathing equipment and a variety of combat oriented upgrades such as additional armor plating and even flak gear can be used to make the rather unimpressive baseline armor into a more suitable piece of gear.
- Skirmishing and Policing: Despite the solid defensiveness of the armor itself the main intent and function of the Inquisition Troopers as internal policing units means that their armor is rather subpar in terms of actual combat. Most military-grade weapons are able to punch through the armor without too much issue, at the very minimum leading to non-insignificant injuries if the armor was used in a battlefield setting.
- Necessary Modularity: While the ITA-01 is fairly modular, this has come at the cost of the baseline armor having various features that would be standard on other such armors. More specialized components and features are kept separate from the base armor in order to streamline and cheapen production, meaning that everything from dedicated long range communications, special environmental protections, or even just heavier armor must all be added onto the armor rather than just included outright.
With Inquisition control over Faldos cemented after a grand trial and the Inquisitorial Armory subsequently established, a variety of equipment and gear of all kinds and sources became available from smuggler and pirate caches and bases. Most of these would be scrapped for parts or given to the wider Sith Order, but it quickly became apparent that the small Inquisition garrison on Faldos was simply not enough to properly police the planet.
Recruitment of the locals was necessary but the Inquisition hesitated to provide additional equipment for what many saw as Darth Strosius's personal project, leading said Inquisitor to order the Armory to begin producing equipment of its own for the new Faldos recruits to use. The Armory used existing, yet admittedly lackluster, armor and equipment confiscated from the more organized gangs as the foundation of their new armor and soon began producing the Faldos Pattern ITA-01. While not as protective as dedicated combat armor or even the standard Inquisition Trooper armors, the Faldos Pattern armor was fairly easy and cheap to produce and worked well enough that more of the Inquisition began putting it to use from time to time.
Given how widely available it would be within the Sith Order, slightly cheaper modified versions of the armor would even be common on some forces that weren't affiliated with the Inquisition and instead purchased by individual Governors or Sith.
