Jessica stood opposite Master Shen on one side of the great circle. Located just inside the highland city limits, the great circle was a small part of the Tao Gardens. A green and lightly forested retreat with a splash of autumn color. A polished stone arena carved with a great circle around it's edges. Many paces across and full of a bright spirit.
Today, Master Shen and Master Matthews were practicing defense against the dark arts. Most specifically. Defense against Force Drain. A very dangerous art form most often employed by Dark Lords and Wounds in the Force. Today their class was open to the public too. Already three other Jedi Masters from around the galaxy had arrived to witness and take part in the training session.
Master Shen began, "Are you ready Master Matthews?"
"I am. You may begin when ready." His partner replied from across the great circle.
Together they bowed. Then Master Shen raised his hand to the sky. Immediately a strange orange glow took to his palm and Master Matthews was constricted by The Force. Anyone with a sense of the Force could sense the dark transfer between them. Master Shen was draining Matthews of her connection. Feeding on it. To make himself stronger.
"Now!" Shen called.
"Now!" Matthews replied with some distress.
Immediately the air changed between them and the orange glow of Master Shen's palm diminished. A sharp change. A dramatic change. An invisible change. Yet, Master Matthews had done it. She had successfully broken their dark connection.
"Haha!" The bald Master Shen began to clap his hands, "Well done."
Jess was sweating but managed a silly smile, "Thank you Master Shen. Always a pleasure."
"Indeed." Master Shen smiled and together they bowed again. Then Master Shen looked to the small gathering beyond the great circle.
"...Okay. Who's next?"
