SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Stormneedlers draw in air from their surroundings, expel cohesion-reducing contaminants, and fill an integrated tank with compressed air. Air is pulled from this tank and surrounded by an invisible 'energy sleeve' to generate the weapon's lethal bolts. The Visium Power Cell lasts for a long while, but the air tank can only hold enough for a few bolts at a time - recharging is not instant and cannot be done in a vacuum.
  • Stormneedler bolts are needle-thin sonic projectiles full of compressed air; they lose cohesion mere moments after impact, but this is often enough time to tear through armour and flesh alike - as the 'energy sleeve' breaks from the tip and back, the air surges forward, inward.
STRENGTHS & WEAKNESSES
  • Unseen Death: Stormneedler bolts are fast, almost invisible, and thin enough to pierce all but the most resilient of armour plates - death or gruesome maiming tends to follow soon after as compressed air is pumped directly into a body, preferably near its vital organs.
  • Unconventional: Stormneedlers do little more than a 'solid punch' against shields and armour too resilient to be penetrated.
DESCRIPTION
Elegantly gruesome, the dichotomy of the Stormneedler. While its bolts are sleekly invisible, their impacts are anything but; one moment an officer is shouting orders, the next his arm is explosively detached at the shoulder with a whoosh, a crack, and the spraying of crimson mist.

Due to its unconventional nature, it can be difficult to place the shooter - successful hits are marked by omnidirectional explosions of escaping air and sundered flesh, rather than clean entry holes, and the bolt is nearly invisible under ordinary conditions. Especially alert individuals are liable to spot flickers akin to heat lines, however, and the bolt's passage is accompanied by a sound akin to a 'softly wailing whoosh'.
