DESCRIPTION

Originating from the Necula region of Ukatis, The Necula Blend is a loose mix of dried herbs and plants that can be steeped in water to produce a tea. Each ingredient can be finicky and time consuming to cultivate properly, so the Necula Blend is considered a luxury product generally only available to noble caste of Ukatis. It can be found off world, either gifted from a member of Ukatian nobility or sold as an imported luxury good.

The draw of the Necula Blend is that, when made correctly, it tastes absolutely divine. Some have described it as earthy and rich, while others have called it light and fragrant. The true taste of the tea has been a fleeting debate among the upper echelons of Ukatian society, often discussed as one of many fanful topics at a dinner party. It has been theorized that the tea itself conforms to the taste of the user, and will taste as whatever they like most. Some have said that the tea can even taste like a concept – it could invoke the scent of a rainstorm, or the idea of a happy memory. Perhaps, however, they were simply being poetic.

Necula Blend is very tricky to make properly. The ingredients must be processed and stored appropriately, the water must be just a hair under boiling, and the tea must only be allowed to brew for an exact amount of time (which, depeding on which snobby noble you ask, can vary from 4-5 minutes down to the second). Failure to strictly adhere to any of these steps will still result in a delicious tea; however, incorrectly brewed tea will also impart hallucinogenic effects on the user. These effects can vary from person to person, but typically include visual and auditory hallucinations. Colors, sounds, objects, and even the concept of time can all seem very strange and disturbing. A user might feel energized and euphoric, or anxious and overwhelmed, or the might run the gamut of emotions.

Of note, the late Lord Faron of Ukatis was slain in a duel with longtime rival, Count Oleg, in an argument over the taste of a pot of Necula Blend they were sharing. Lord Faron, insisting that the tea tasted of fresh picked peaches on a summer day, accused the Count of wearing only his wife’s underthings, and stabbed him with a dagger . The Count, who was by all accounts fully dressed in noble finery, died of stab wound while hiding behind a curtain proclaiming that “It protected him from the beguiling wiles of the Hat Man.”

Drink at your peril.
