OBULETTE - OBULETTE SYSTEM - MECETTI PROVINCE

OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION

GENERAL INFORMATION
  • Planet Name: Obulette
  • Demonym: Obulite
  • Region: Colonies, Mecetti Province
  • System Name: Obulette
  • System Features: Obulette is the fourth planet in a six planet Obulette system, orbiting a red dwarf star. The famous Obulette shipyards are a major feature in orbit of the world. The first world of the system is called Onuben, followed by Dudren, followed by Trebis, followed by Obulette, followed by Pedrin, followed by Exilon. A large asteroid belt lies between the fifth and sixth planet of the system, festooned with sensor outposts and defensive installations to screen the inner worlds. Onuben, the first planet of the system, is particularly mineral rich, and is heavily mined to provide for the industry on Obulette.
  • Location: An adjacent system to Javis in the Mecetti Province, in the Coreward direction. (Already on map.)

  • Major Imports: Primary Imports to Obulette include luxury goods and offworld foodstuffs, as well as entertainment holos and foreign workers
  • Major Exports: Primary exports include starships, starship components, vehicles, electronics, droids, weapon systems, and other high-technology items
  • Unexploited Resources: Other than specifically maintained preserves, and metals found in the planetary core, Obulette's resources are largely depleted, with minerals needing to come from offworld.
GEOGRAPHIC INFORMATION
  • Gravity: Standard Earthlike Gravity
  • Climate: Ranging from Arctic to Temperate Conditions
  • Primary Terrain: Shallow Oceans, Lakes, Arctic plains, Mountains, Industrial Zones, Mega-Cities, and Arcologies
  • Atmosphere: Type I
LOCATION INFORMATION
  • Capital City: Mecedon
  • Planetary Features: Obulette is a world of shallow oceans, temperate forest preserves, and carefully curated arcologies.
  • Major Locations:
    • Mecedon, the Capital City, is a beautiful mega-city with man-made lakes and canals, and high-rise corporate towers. A dome near city center protects the House Mecetti palace, comprised of polarized transparisteel with controlled apertures that allow the entry and exit of authorized vehicles. The dome is further reinforced by a shield generator that is activated in the event of hostile bombardment.
    • Obulette Shipyards - A massive orbital shipbuilding complex capable of constructing dozens of capital ships simultaneously, along with scores of smaller vessels and starfighters.
    • Deepwater Thermal Reactor - Located in an oceanic trench which is geologically active, the Deepwater Thermal Reactor not only provides a fifth of global power, but also has a water processing facility that cleanses industrial products from the planet's oceans.
    • Redgrove Forest Preserve - A large forest preserve maintained in one of the southern continents named Magredor, where it is illegal to cut trees except for forest management purposes, by order of House Mecetti.
    • Paradus Crest - A chain of islands in the Northern Temperate Region which are maintained as a tourist destination preserve free from industry.
    • South Station - A massive air-processing facility in the South Polar Region is essentially a terraforming station which cleans industrial products out of the air.
  • Force Nexus (Optional): None
    Intent: NA
    Nexus Name: NA
  • Nexus Alignment: NA
  • Size: NA
  • Strength: NA
  • Accessibility: NA
  • Effects: NA
POPULATION
  • Native Species: Mostly human (94%)
  • Immigrated Species:
  • Population: Heavy (12 Billion)
  • Demographics: Primarily human population with a smattering of alien humanoid immigrants.
  • Primary Languages: Galactic Basic, Twi'lekki, Shriwook, Durosian, Selkathian
  • Culture: Located in the Mecetti Province, the world of Obulette shares a noble rulership with appointed governers, magistrates, and mayors. Corporate culture is heavily emphasized, with business leaders acting as a sort of secondary nobility on the world. Major industries are nationalized as a subsidiary under the House Mecetti Nationalized Industries. The nobility is felt heavily on Obulette, with the average citizen likely to see various noble figures during holidays and celebrations. The world's population is strongly monitored by the Ministry of Inquiry, who root out any anti-government sentiment, promote patriotism, and investigate for espionage while providing intelligence to the Throne World of House Mecetti on Obulette. There is an effort to keep the oppression of the population largely invisible, with troublemakers disappearing in the middle of the night. Many citizens are under the false impression that they lead free lives, and are largely happy. Those who are aware of the oppression of House Mecetti are usually wise enough not to speak of it.
GOVERNMENT & ECONOMY
  • Government: Aristocratic Corporatism
  • Affiliation: House Mecetti
  • Wealth: High - due to a prospering industry
  • Stability: High - the guiding hand of the House Mecetti Ministry of Inquiry keeps the population on course.
  • Freedom & Oppression: As for most worlds within the Mecetti province, the population is oppressed, but is given the impression that they are free. The prosperity of the world allows most people to persist happily in their lives without testing this impression. When someone does complain about the government, they usually fall silent or disappear before very long. Any critics that persist over time are usually Ministry of Inquiry operatives, making mild complaints while drawing potential troublemakers to themselves so they can be handled by the government.
MILITARY & TECHNOLOGY
  • Military: Obulette is a spacefaring world with a substantial military. There is usually more than one House Mecetti Star Destroyer in the system, hundreds of starfighters on planet and in the orbital shipyards, and thousands of troops and military vehicles stationed in major cities throughout the world.
  • Technology: Galactic Standard
HISTORICAL INFORMATION
Obulette was settled during the Colonial Era, millennia ago. The discovery of the world was so long ago to be lost to history. However, it is known that House Mecetti settled here before the time of the Galactic Republic, 26,000 BBY.

Around 6,000 BBY, the Tapani Sector fell under control of the Sith Empire, and the Tapani noble Houses were forced to collaborate with the Sith in order to survive. The lasting influence of this occupation is the tradition of the Saber Rakes, which are light-foil wielding nobles who duel for prestige and honor on all the major worlds of the sector. In addition, House Mecetti has a secret vault of Sith artifacts at their palace, and have sometimes chosen marriages with an eye towards fostering Force Sensitivity in their children. A long-standing hope of House members is that they might be able to train in Force abilities without once more coming under the thumb of the Sith, or their righteous adversaries the Jedi.

Obulette is the Throne World of House Mecetti in the Mecetti Province of the Tapani Sector. In addition to being the Capital of the sector, it is a center for industry and commerce. There are arcology cities dotted across the world in large industrial zones, manufacturing almost everything conceivable. There is also a deep water purification facility and polar air scrubbing station that process the air and water of the world, collecting toxins that accumulate and shipping them offworld or recycling them for re-use on the planet's industry.

There are some undeveloped island regions and forested expanses kept as preserves, so that the citizenry do not become dispirited by the industrialization of their world. An effort is made to issue vacation packages to good workers and middle-management personnel to keep up morale, rotating them to resorts near preserved and undeveloped regions.

Nobles and high-level corporate leaders have access to such resorts by default, of course. One of the jobs undertaken by members of the noble house is to tour the major cities and sites of the world, allowing themselves to be seen and recognized to promote the popularity of the nobility. Often, their visits coincide with worker bonuses or extra vacation packages, to make the nobles popular and well-liked.
