- Cheap but dangerous Infantry Melee Droid that can serve as guards in facilities, or a First Wave Assault
- Slowly grows more intelligent over time at melee fighting
- Energized Blast Shield allows it to take on both vibroweapons and Lightsabers
- Vibrosword fitted with poison dispensing mechanisms
- Three times faster than a normal human due to improved servomotor design
- First Wave: These cheap Droids can be 3D Printed in even the most basic Droid Assembly and shipped out seeing combat hours later, Deployed in waves in both massed open warfare and Urban Warfare as Droid Hoplites to soak up waves of Blasterfire. They're so cheap that even the poorest faction can afford to throw at least two or three thousand of them at a given enemy, and their simplified, cheap construction means production is nearly impossible to disrupt. They are programmed to seek and move from cover to cover and to evade fire rather than try to tank it, or if they must march into direct fire, form columns of 25 to 100 while using their blast shields to cover themselves. Opponents thinking these Droids will simply rush them to be shot at are in for a rude awakening, as they are surprisingly patient and calculating while advancing towards an enemy, and are sometimes used as scouts They are aided in their advance by their tough Titanium Armor which has more than a good enough chanch of letting them close the distance before the enemy can destroy them
- Hired Knives: If they come in range of you, you will find they have surprisingly high quality dueling programming, and the closer they get to opponents armed with range weapons, their ability to predict and evade shots improves in slight increments, and they are capable of triumphing over ordinary sword fighters, and even legitimate swordmasters are in immense danger if they do not remain on their guard at all times. Their blast shield has been fitted with additional energy shield technology that allows it to go up against Vibroweapons and Lightsabers, furthering the danger it potentially poses to Force Adepts. If it survives multiple engagements, it becomes smarter at dueling and approach an evasion, becoming even more dangerous to its enemies.
- Athlete: They are engineered to be three times faster and more reflexive than a standard human, and they will brutally exploit that at close range, engaging in acrobatics if necessary
- Don't expect miracles: Make no mistake, they are capable of devastating an area, especially in enclosed spaces, where there isn't a lot of room to evade, but they are best used as a form of harrassment and demoralization, and beyond very light scouting, or guard duty, they cannot accomplish specialized objectives, and they're parts are cheap enough that random shortouts occasionally occur, leading to five seconds of inactivity before it reboots. The chance a small group could do anything more than slow a Jedi down for a moment is dicey at best, and the possibility that even an experienced one might actually triumph and slay a Jedi or Sith in combat is extremely unlikely. But there is a better than average chance of them at least being able to wound a Force Adept, and these Droids embody the philosophy of Death of a Thousand Cuts. While not as stupid as a B1, it's still no BX Commando Droid and is guaranteed to screw up anything more complicated than "Guard", "March" "Close In/Withdraw", "Attack", "Defend", "Escort To Destination", "Kill", "Spare". Also vulnerable to hacking.
- Slugthrowers: Not built to resist solid ammunition, even an arrow fired from a sufffciently powerful weapon system has a chance of penetrating the armor. Even a light impact to the head from a punch has a chance of heavily scrambling its databases.
- Blast Shield Dependant: It relies on the energy sheath generated over its Blast Shield and Vibrosword to help resist Vibroweapons and Lightsabers. It has no resistance to these weapons on any other part of its body, and if deprived of them, especially the energy shroud covering its blast shield, it is all but defenseless to them. Its emitter array has a chance of failing if its used a lot, and can only remain active as long as power to the arm its attached to is not disrupted, and may just plain short out at random due to overuse or overheating from repeated, rapid blows from a lightsaber, forcing the Droid into an aggressive strategy against Jedi where it attacks constantly with its sword, taking a direct blow from the lightsaber only when left with no choice, prefering to parry at all other times. This can sabotage a strategy where its best to remain more defensive against a Force Adept
- Multishield dependant: It has a Multishield Generator that allows it to resist flame and electricity. If it is deprived of this devices effects, it is defenseless to those elements
- Situational Awareness: Once it has locked onto an opponent in a melee duel, it focuses on killing the opponent at all costs, potentially ignoring hazards to kill an opponent right in front of it
- Acid: No resistance to acid which east through the chassis in seconds
- Cryo: Cryoweapons severely damage its circuits and chassis
- Sonic: Sonic weapons shatter its chassis
Phase 1 Dark Troopers were a criminally unrealized concept when they were first introduced, with unimaginative Imperial Leadership relegating them to guard duty and tinkering in test trials and limited deployment. The Post Plague Era has seen a revival of the design, due to the need for emergency troops of high disposability against invasion forces, used to get a feel for the sort of weaponry an enemy is using and the number of people they are prepared to lose in a given engagement. Cheaper than cheap to make due to mainly recycled parts usage and 3D printing, they have a great chance of all but forcing the enemy to waste ammunition that could have been spent killing more significant threats. Just don't ask it to do more than it was designed for. You'll both be happier that way.
