.Caltin had no intention of staying long at Ko's party. One too many Masters was like chaperones, and on top of that, he really did not know, or really associate with many. Emotionless or not though, the big man would have made the effort if he was not enroute to Atrisian space (in a roundabout way) to go and visit his son Connel who was recovering from grave injury(if you do not know at this point, look it up). Caltin had not been there for a few days, and wanted to be, but circumstances kept popping up and whether it be to take Connel's place (temporarily) or because he would have previously) some errands were put on the big man's list. Word is, Connel was out of the bacta and awake. He wanted to be there.

Then the galactic map noted that they were approaching the Chommel sector and all Caltin could think of was Naboo. The “old house” on Naboo that he and his sister used to own(technically the names are still on the land ownership, but laws complicate things and frankly not worth the effort to try and rectify the situation). There was an idea in the big man’s head though, so he altered course and headed for the planet. Not really sure about how things were going to go, Caltin looked up the address for any potential issues that might come up now. Okay, cool, Joran still lived there, so this could be a good thing.

Entering the atmosphere and setting course brought back some memories, Many of them good, some bad, it was always an interesting statistic and knack of this place that he tended to find out exactly where he stood with those who he considered “friend” or “family”. Some to whom he thought were close to him were not at all, only reaching out when they needed him. Some to whom he thought showed him no concern, only becoming true friends. Digression aside, setting down on the landing pad in front of the house (for only the second time in the place’s thousand year history), he let out a sigh, and walked up to the front door.

Smuggler by day. Snuggler by night.
"Force facking sake, Mero! What do I facking pay you for?!" Captain Joran Del-Finn bellowed into his comm device before chucking it against the wall where the tiny grey community promptly burst into pieces.

One of the pit droids scurried off to sweep up and collect the broken device. Clang… no that one was Bang. Joran didn't really bother keeping track. He suffered the presence of the droids because they had proven to be useful but he didn't care much for them.

There was a knock at his door. Joran rounded on the sound with fury still in his eyes. Strong strides took him to the source of the knock and with an eagerness to lay into someone who he could actually look in the eye Joran opened the door to the ancient and enormous estate he called home(sometimes)

The house, well, one could call it a house if they chose but that would massively undersell and misinform what this place actually was. The house was ancient, millennia old from an era of heroes that had long since passed the galaxy. It had passed down through Joran's family and somehow into Joran's possession. It had every luxury imaginable, it was crafted from the finest materials available and it was facking massive.

Joran, though, would spend only a handful of days a year at the place, opting instead to spend most of his life aboard his ship, The Perseverance.

Massive did not just describe the house or estate or whatever. It was as apt a way to describe Joran Del-Finn… Captain Joran Del-Finn, as there was. To have Joran described through measurements and numbers would no doubt be impressive but it would miss the mark.

Joran could be described as a man who casts a shadow and in whose shadow nothing good nor godly will ever facking grow.

Upon opening the door Joran found himself face to face with another man who fit that description. Fit it exactly as it were. Joran was face to face with Caltin Vanagor, Jedi Master and Joran's doppelganger.

There was a time where the exactitude of their likeness would unnerve Joran but he did not let things crawl under his skin for long.

"Caltin," Joran greeted not unkindly but with little hint of warmth. "Long time, mate." He held his hand out to shake hands.

"Come in then," Joran invited. "I was just about to have a drink."

He had a feeling he would need it.

Joran. Shaking the man’s hand, he did not move to go in, but wait until invented, or asked to explain his reason for being here. When invited, Caltin slowly and respectfully walked in. There was still a tense feeling in here between them, which was fine. Caltin did not want to pry into the man’s life, as he seemed to have no interest, Even Dagos had disappeared again, unfortunately. The big man still held out hope he would return to the fold, but it was his path to walk, and a conversation for another time.

dc-injustice-2-mobile-black-adam-reveal-trailer-dc-izfr7cxbg_82bm.2560.png

Looking around, the massive Jedi Master took a moment to visually appreciate his surroundings. Sure, it was not a picture perfect copy of “the old house” but very little of the design of the house had changed. The little nooks and crannies holding out with the changes in trends, building codes, and technology over the millennia. This was just the vestibule into the den and it was already memories about his past, and he appreciated it. …

… almost enough to forget he was asked about a drink.

Thank you, if you don’t mind, I will take a cold tea if you have it. If not, don’t worry.I won’t impose on you long.

This wasn’t his house anymore, his life anymore. So he could not and would not hold the man up. Caltin was only here to pick something up, if it was still around. He would just have to take a chance for his son, the younger Vanagor needed a “win” a chance to build himself back up and not just feel like it was “mom and dad bailing me out”, again. That is what always seemed happen.
How have you been doing?

“Thank you, if you don't mind, I will take a cold tea if you have it. If not, don't worry.I won't impose on you long.” Caltin said as he took up Joran’s invitation to come inside

"Tea? Alright let me take a look then." Joran said.

His tone may have come across a little frustrated, though it had very little to do with Caltin despite his unannounced arrival. Joran's comm conversation was still freshly sore and Caltin's request for something so simple as cold tea left Joran a tad flustered as he was not the one who stocked this house's food or drink.

Joran left Caltin alone for a moment and when he returned he did so with one of the pit droids following behind him pushing a drink cart carrying two glasses a pitcher of cold tea and a bottle of dark brown liquid.

"Bourbon in yours Cal?" Joran asked, suspecting he knew the answer already. Joran poured two glasses a tall frosty cold glass of bourbon free tea for the Jedi and a shorter one for himself half full of bourbon, hold the tea if you please.

"How have you been doing?" The Jedi Master inquired.

Joran was a little surprised by Caltin's cordiality. It was true that the men were not enemies and at this point were hardly even strangers, hell they were actually relatives –separated by a handful of generations but who was counting, really? – but they were also a far cry from busom buddies.

"Oi, don't get me facking started mate." Joran said.

He tried to sound light as he said it but a hint of weariness may have crept into his voice.

"I've had seven commercial shipments go missing since the start of the year. Facking seven, mate! It's bloody madness it is." Joran drained his glass and filled it half way full again.

"And the facking senate! A Force damned joke, yeah? Never seen something so…" he sought for a word "…monolithic be so facking useless, right?" Joran took a more modest drink.

"I petition them about the assaults on my legal shipments and law abiding captains who transport said shipments and what do I hear back?"

Joran didn't even wait for Caltin to open his mouth before answering his own question.

"Facking nothing that's what!" He barked.

"They are electing to do nothing. Facking nothing. Excuses all of it. All because I refuse to pay for Alliance backed escorts, or to register my ships in anything other than the local registries of the systems wherein I will be conducting my business , nor will I allow Alliance inspectors aboard any vessel registered to myself or my company. Its facking extortion I tell you. I pay taxes on those shipments, right? I should be owed some recompense. Worse then the facking pirates, I tell you." He finished his glass and poured himself another.

Joran's voice which had been raised a mere moment before lowered quite significantly and he continued on in a more calm controlled conversational manner

"Now good men will go hurt and hungry and I go without a full bank account all because I value my freedoms and my privacy. What has the galaxy come to, I ask?"

Joran fished a cigar out of a drawer on the drink cart, cut the end, chomped down, lit the thing and began to smoke. He offered one to Caltin.

"Aye, and what's more," Joran began again through a could of smoke.

Caltin really shouldn't have gotten him started.

"a facking captain in my employ has gone missing, his ship found abandoned and his facking crew found murdered. Not that I'd bring this particular issue to the senate, due to, well let's just call them legal gray areas concerning what exactly it was this captain may or may not have been transporting at the time."

Most folks probably wouldn't bring up their extralegal activities to a Jedi Master and most likely Caltin didn't want to hear about them but Joran was not most people and did not often give consideration to what Caltin Vanagor wanted.

"What about you, mate? I don't suspect you showed up here to remind yourself what I look like."

No, thank you. This will be more than fine.

It’s funny how far a little simple “how’ya doin?” could open floodgates. His doppelganger went off about all of his goings on, basically retelling the dealings of smuggling operations (No need to be concerned, Caltin didn’t judge, it wasn’t his business), the big man did not interject, he simply listened, and let his counterpart talk and show genuine concern. He was after all, good men and women were missing? Someone he knew was in trouble? It was a serious situation that the man was dealing with. With a nod, Caltin took the cigar, and pocketed it. He did not smoke, but the big man would not deny one’s hospitality twice.

dc-injustice-2-mobile-black-adam-reveal-trailer-dc-izfr7cxbg_82bm.2560.png

Wow, I don’t know what to say. I am sorry to hear this. I do not hold the position, or sway that I used to, but if you would like. I still have a few strings that I could pull… Letting the offer trail off, Caltin wanted Joran the freedom to accept his offer without the need or requirement to divulge all about himself and his dealings. Especially if the presumption(and that is all this was about smuggling, let’s be clear) to be wrong.

The question about what brought him here snapped Caltin out of his state for the moment.

Oh, yes. My apologies for showing up unannounced, and I will not hold you up long. I am here to ask you if the safe in the load bearing beam down in the Southwestern Basement still has a safe in it? If the beam was still there, then he knew the answer, it would then be a question of access. Of course it was not something someone not attune to the Force would even know about to begin with. There is a box in there that I need, with your permission of course, as well as a few other notes of currency and trinkets which you are of course welcome to… quite a bit of emergency currency and other pieces Joran could probably sell if he wanted, Whatever, Caltin just hoped for the box.

I was also curious about Dagon, how he’s been getting on.Have you been in contact?

Eku1KfW.png

Joran Del-Finn

"No need to trouble yourself, mate." Joran said with a wave of his hand.

Joran did not dismiss Caltin's offer out of a desire to diminish the gesture. No, Caltin's concern was at least mildly endearing for its sincerity. Joran however, did not like to feel indebted.

"A safe?" Joran paused to think a second. "Dunno nothing bout that. You're welcome to look about. I have no desire to keep from you what is yours after all."

Strictly speaking, Joran was telling the truth. He had no reason or inclination to prevent Caltin procuring what he had arrived so suddenly for but if Joran had found this safe before Cal's arrival he quite possibly could've found his own ends for the contents.

"I was also curious about Dagon, how he's been getting on.Have you been in contact?" Caltin asked.

Caltin asking about Dag was the exact reason why Joran did not just turn him away at the door. For being a Jedi and presumably a giant stick in the mud Caltin Vanagor was also a good man. Joran and Caltin may be related but it was their affection for Dag that connected them more than blood ever did.

"The kid is lost, mate, know what I mean?" Joran said through a cloud of freshly exhaled smoke.

"Well I mean, he ain't lost, I know where he is, well, I don't know where he is, but I do know where I left him."

Joran had left him on Ord Mantell with Sorr Kortu Sorr Kortu , hoping the young smuggler could give Dagos a place in the galaxy that he felt he could belong. Oh, and he had given them a job to do and yet he'd heard not a single word from them in weeks.

"Dag has a good head on his shoulders, right? He just needs to find the proper direction to point it, yeah?"

Joran took a sip from his glass.

"This safe, mate. whatchu got in there, some Jedi whosey-what's-it?" Joran asked allowing his curiosity to lead his words.

Well, the offer stands. Up to you though.

In truth, Caltin had no doubt that Joran would let him look around, but it was still a relief that he was not just turned away. Maybe it was the fact that they were related. Maybe it was the fact that Caltin just gave him the separation he deserved and not tried to force (no pun intended) his way back here. Maybe it was Dagon. Taking a sip of his tea, Caltin half-smiled and did that little “head shake” you do when you call instinctively on a set of memories. He was not turning them away, or diminishing Joran’s at all,

It was a shame that Dagon had felt the way that he did. You know, about Dagon, he is a good guy. I’ve kept his house the way he left it on the island on Alderaan. It’ll stay that way, it’s his after all. The mention of him working for Joran made Caltin feel good, noticeably even through the spell that he was under. Caltin was not surprised that the man would be there for him, but it was still important that he still had someone watching out.

dc-injustice-2-mobile-black-adam-reveal-trailer-dc-izfr7cxbg_82bm.2560.png

Either way, you’re right. His head is firmly on his shoulders and he will find himself. He just needs to be the one to do so. Not some ridiculous “Jedi” thing, just his personality. I’m much the same way. Kt’s why he’s my Padawan. He said what he said. Even when they leave, Caltin still considers one “his Padawan” until either they are Knighted, they fall to the Dark Side, or the Force forbids they become one with the Force.

Being given the green light, he nodded for Joran to come with him, should he want to. It was nothing that important, or at least that important to Joran so it wasn’t necessary to hide anything. In truth he forgot about what else was in it.

”Whozywhats” is a good description. Walking down the spiral steps, and forgetting just how much he did not like said steps, Caltin glared back at them just as he used to every time he had ever descended for but a moment. This was designed by my late brother n law as a tasting room. Not necessarily a bar, but… he… you know?? Extending his right hand out, Caltin closed his eyes and reached out through the Force. The Force would be his “lock pick” seeping, slipping, and floating through and around the beam that he was looking at until it began to slowly vibrate and “come alive” again after over a millenia inert. Not only did it spiral, it telescoped and transformed into an avatar of a celebratorial warrior type of statue whose shield was out.

This is a box of parts to make lightsabers that I had collected over time. My son Connel… he is going to need to make a new one and I want to make it easier on him if he wants such. I don’t think that he will, but the option is there. Opening it up, parts and crystals of all shapes, types and sizes were strewn about and in amazing preservation.

See? Also… this is one of those “extra” things I forgot about that you are of course welcome to. A Gold laced bottle of Corellian Whiskey that is over 1100 years old. Unopened and in remarkable condition.Either a great pour or will pull you a pretty credit.
