Strengths:
- Blaster Protection: As the most popular weapons in the galaxy tend to be blasters, and considering the purpose of being riot gear in addition to military armor, ensuring protection against blasters was of high priority.
- Dampening Helmet: The helmet is designed to mitigate the effect of noise on the wearer, helping to prevent their hearing from being destroyed due to outside noise.
- Sealed Armor: Sealed to help fight against chemical and biological warfare. Also to prevent tear gas from affecting the wearer.
- Riot Prepared: Built to be worn for riots, there are a few containers to hold additional ammo, grenades, or supplies.
- Low Tech: Due to being constructed with very little integrated technology, should the wearer be struck by an emp or ion attack of some kind, the suit as a whole loses little functionality. With one exception of course.
Weaknesses:
- Sonic Weaponry: The majority of the armor is comprised of armorweave. While the helmet is made to keep their hearing intact, the total suit does the wearer no real favors protecting against sonic weaponry.
- Tech Helmet: The helmet is the real technology dependent piece of the armor. An EMP might not negate the majority of the armor, but it does negate the helmet. You know, the part that keeps the had safe, and needs tech to see through.
- EMP: EMP weapons are especially dangerous, as they negate the helmet's features. Discussed before, this makes them vulnerable to noises damaging their hearing, and to even see out of the helmet requires the basic HUD. this means to see, the helmet must be removed, which breaks the seal protecting the wearer to chemical and biological attacks.
DESCRIPTION
Nordel, one of the nations of Commenor, is most well known for its entertainment industry, very specifically in the realm of sports. In fact, Anteluma, the capital, is known as Commenor's sporting capital city, and the stadium there is the pride of the city. However, being known for sports means the risk of sporting riots is quite, high, to say the least. Tensions and grudges can run wild, and blood can boil under the sun, and with the risk being there... proper riot gear was a necessity. If only as a precaution, that was.
The design was based heavily on the standard uniform of the police, of course, though expanding on the design and adding additional layers for protection from blasters, the most likely threat the uniform would face. To prevent any damage to officer's ears from the threat of noise overload, the helmet was designed to reduce incoming sound waves, dampening them to protect their hearing. This was achieved through an electronic system that adjusted what the helmet played through to the officer within.
Of course, the final product was a well made set of riot gear, which brought a new possibility. The military of Nordel was, while not a militia by any means, essentially little more than a professionally trained militia. Career soldiers existed, of course, but until recent times their uniforms varied wildly, representative of the CSA's widespread population. This uniform however, was relatively simple to create, and produce sufficient levels for the military. Therefore, Lady Shoden ordered the P-02 made into the standard issue military uniform, further uniting the already intertwined military and police forces.
As a military uniform, the riot gear has a distinct advantage of not being particularly electronic dependent. Since there wasn't, say, fifty different systems to keep track of, the uniform forces the troops to be reliant on other means, leaving them capable of operating even through EMPs or ionic attacks. However, the helmet requires its basic HUD, essentially taking the place of a 'visor', to see through. Meaning, without the basic HUD, it was impossible to even walk forward with ease.
The trade off of the suit's low dependancy however was believed to be a valuable trade off, to allow even the police to become soldiers without needing additional training in operating the suit itself.
