History

Once upon a time there was a vile and evil man. He was obsessed with control, specifically control over the mind. His name was Jagos and he was a failure. The minds of his enemies were too stubborn, too aware, and too set in their ways to be fully controlled. As far as Jagos was concerned, failure was not an option. He would find a way to control the minds of man anyway he could. So he concluded that if the adult mind was too hard to conquer he would start smaller and younger. Jagos set a small fortune to stealing infants for his scientific and sorcerous experimentations in mind control. He finally succeeded in his quest for control with Ran and twenty others. Just infants at the time Ran and the others had no way of knowing what was in store for them.

Twenty-nine years. Twenty-nine years of life and not a day of it actually lived. Such was the fate of Ran and the rest of the Children of the Sith Lord Jagos. Their minds were not their own. Their minds belonged to Jagos. Sith science and sorcery twisted and folded their desires, their impulses, and their emotions, and in their place they followed Jagos'. They were aware of every moment and trapped in it just the same. Ran and the others were forced to become soldiers for the Sith and were experimented on even further. They were bolstered by chemicals, trained in the most dire situations, and instructed to be killing machines. The children were then given as gifts to other Lords to increase Jagos' station. Ran was the only one Jagos kept.

Three decades of violence, war, and death went by and three decades of violence, war, and death were caused by Ran's hands but not by her heart. The grip on her mind was too strong to fight so with a blaster in her hand and a helmet over her face, she wounded, she subjugated, and she killed all because she was hardwired, brainwashed, and trained to do so. Luckily for Ran sometimes wires come loose and after twenty-nine years so did hers.

Her first real memory, the first time she'd ever blinked her eyes of her own volition, started with a concussion grenade going off. She flew back and hit the wall hard. She pushed herself up to her feet for the first time ever and ran her hand across her blaster rifle. The last twenty-nine years were still there, present in her head but now she was in the driver's seat and she had such a clear image of what she had to do. She turned to Jagos, the true target of the concussion grenade and blasted him, first in the shoulder and then in the stomach. Ran took her helmet off so she could see Jagos' bewilderment and disappointment with her own two eyes. Then she kicked Jagos to the floor. Before the Sith Lord could breathe his final breath Ran interrupted. "You are a failure." And with one last bolt fired from her rifle Ran ended the tale of Jagos and began her own. The tale of Ran would be one of salvation, discovery and love, but the violence, war, and death would remain. As she fled the Sith & Galactic Alliance confrontation Ran thought about all the other Children of Jagos and how she would free them, but first she needed some time, a lot of resources, and a few friends in some high places.
