CULTURE
Revith Wasps evolved on Vanquo within the depths of the forest, growing substantially larger than their ancestors as to better hunt large, dangerous prey. As many of the dangerous creatures could easily break into their nesting grounds, being large and vastly more dangerous than smaller wasp like entities saw their survival rate grow to an acceptable level, in which they were able to live many generations without suffering a substantial life loss. As they grew in size their life span similarly expanded, and as a result they began to birth at a somewhat slower pace, offsetting the potential catastrophic damage they could inflict on their origin planet. With larger beings, their eggs and larvae also grew in size, requiring them to hunt and use prey as their own breeding grounds for safety.
Eventually the wasps settled into a dangerous role on a dangerous world, much to the contentment of the galaxy for not dealing with them. However when scientists began to examine the species in depth, a number of specimens ended up smuggled, both intentionally and accidentally, off of the planet’s surface. For collectors these were fine species to put into their collection, and a number of eggs accidentally ended up planted in food supplies headed for other planets. Thus they expanded to a number of worlds, including Kiros. Other nests were manufactured by transplanting queens and drones off world, to use as natural defenses against potential invaders or to handle other invasive species.
Despite their nature, these insects usually manage to remain a stable population without destroying a natural balance, most likely due to the drone’s life cycle and similarly lower number of breeding seasons. Though they are quite terrifying, an anti-toxin was made available to most galactic hospitals, especially those on worlds with known colonies, to treat the victims swiftly.

OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
Intent: To flesh out a species of wasp for Vanquo, Kiros, and other worlds within the UCM

Name: “Revith Thiquavian” (Rev-ith Thick-wa-vee-an), aka Revith Wasps
Designation: Semi-Sentient
Origins: Vanquo
Average Lifespan: The Queen can live up to two years, while the remainder of a colony survives an average of two to three months.
Estimated Population: Inter-Planetary
Description: Revith Thiquavian, the Revith Wasp, is mostly unremarkable from normal wasps except for its substantial size, and similarly exceptionally large stinger. Revith wasps are primarily blue-black colored with brightly colored orangeish wings. Sort of shiny.
Breathes: Type 1
Average Height of Adults: 1 meter
Average Length of Adults: N/A
Skin color: Blue-Black
Hair color: N/A
Distinctions: All Revith wasps have a shiny blue-black ‘skin’ color with brightly colored wings. The queens are more blue-colored than the lesser drones, and can be somewhat larger in stature to the rest of the species. Queens also are the only members of the species to show any outward signs of intelligence and sentience, or connection to the Force.
Races: N/A
Force Sensitivity: Rare
Highly Venomous: The poison of a Revith wasp is an intensely powerful paralytic substance, which kills its victims by slowly ‘burning’ or ‘melting’ through the cell membranes of internal organs. A single sting in passing produces about 50 mL of the substance, enough to kill an average human within about a week if left completely untreated. A large dose of one liter is enough to kill the same human within the day.
Deadly Stingers: These stingers are built tough, and are massive. As to hunt creatures with tough hides they are durable, and about .16 meters long (six inches approx.). These stingers are thick to prevent being snapped, and can pierce leathery hides, skin, and cloth with relative ease. There have even purportedly been incidents of the wasp breaking through glass, as well as armor made of durasteel. However...
Flight: According to all known laws of aviation, there is no way that this wasp should be able to fly. Its wings are too small to get its fat body off the ground. The wasp, of course, flies anyway, because wasps do not care what humanoids think is possible
Slow Poison: The Poison is powerful, but its burning process is not what usually kills the victims. This is usually the result of either a vital organ being burned and destroyed irreparably before treatment, or the hatched spawn of the queen eating their nest food alive. The required toxin for a large, fatal dosage of the poison itself is also beyond any normal means for the Revith Wasp.
Durasteel: These reports are only semi correct. The Revith Wasp can, with persistence, puncture thin plates of durasteel, like those that might be in use by a civilian or at the joints of moderate military armor. For example it may be able to pierce the neck or armpit or other joints, even with a thin protective plate, however it is not going to sting through the chest plate, greaves, or shoulders.
None-too-silent: They buzz, really *really* loudly. You know these things are coming. So if you move you might not get stung.
No Natural Armor: Their strength is in numbers. Single members don’t have substantial protection despite their size, as their carapace is not at all comparable to armor.
CULTURE
Diet: Omnivore
Communication: Hive Mind, Force Sensitive Queens might do the same with force telepathy
Technology level: Primitive
Religion/Beliefs: None
General behavior: Revith Wasps have a rather long life for insects, though by no means are these lives long. Most start their life as larvae, born onto or into a living creature stung by one of the drones or Queen, and slowly consume the usually still living creature to find nutrition in the early stages of development. They then continue life for several days, growing rapidly and consuming food provided by the colony, until they begin metamorphosis into an adult. They then fully join the hive mind, connected through pheromones and potentially the mental will of the Queen, who directs the hive to continue surviving. They consume nectar often as a snack to continue subsisting and leave more meat for any new growths and the Queen. Other than this they seem to behave as any other species of wasp, generally being needlessly mean in comparison to bees, and fiercely protective of the colony itself.
