- High Cutting Power: Due to being made into a vibroblade, this beskar blade is exceptionally sharp when powered on, able to cut through flesh with ease.
- Sharp: The metal blade itself is still relatively sharp even when powered down as well, though would require more effort to cause appreciable damage. Realistically this just means the weapon is still functional, even though it is not nearly as effective.
- Lightsaber Resistant: Beskar is a very dense material, making the blade resistant to lightsabers for the purpose of fighting Sith or Jedi.
- Fail Safe: The fail safe is designed to shut the vibration cell permanently if it begins to overload, preventing it from exploding.
- Vibration Needed: Without a vibration cell, the blade requires more effort to break skin and cut flesh. A strong enough, two handed blow is able to start hacking through flesh, but isn't going to be as effortless as a powered weapon.
- EMP: Ionic weapons can cause the cell powering the weapon to shut down, and remove the powered edge. Electricity can cause a similar effect by activating the fail safe at sufficient levels.
- Heavy for a Short Blade: Despite being a smaller sword, the material used makes it noticeably heavier. Being able to wield a normal sword means using the weapon won't be difficult, but it does mean the blade will not be as nimble and quick as a similar sized blade made of phrik or even durasteel.
- Repairs: Replacing the vibrocell and re powering the weapon requires a talented individual.
Opal Lsu, the deceased mother of Azure Djitred, was the kind of woman who made sure everyone around knew she was top dog. So when she killed a Mandalorian who had said quite the colorful thing about her mother, she decided to take the corpse's Beskad sword as repayment, leaving the corpse to be collected by its brothers. Of course she wasn't going to use a Mandalorian sword, so she found someone willing and able to help her melt down the weapon, and transform it into a new weapon. A powerful vibroblade, small as it was to fit her smaller frame. A big, intentional insult to Mandalorians who might ever find and meet her wielding the weapon.
The weapon was designed with a fail safe to protect her, as lightning releasing capabilities were common in Mandalorian armor to counteract force lightning, and she spent great deals of credits to have the weapon made to an almost artistic standard. When it was completed, the weapon went with her everywhere, including the fateful day she took a flight with Azure, the result of which was her death, Azure's adoption by her rescuers, and the power cell being broken. The weapon was given to Azure, as a reminder of where she came from, and because Opal kept her will on the ship and wanted her to have it. Though mostly because it was most fitting to give to the young Azure, when she was old enough.
