The Dead God
The purpose of this document is to instruct you, the hopeful Sith, in the structure and elements of our Sith Order. Study this handbook closely if you wish to rise through the ranks of the Sith.
The Sith Order is composed of several fractured warlord states, tied together in an uneasy alliance by necessity. Three Warlord States stand above the rest: The Sith Eternal, the Tsis’kaar and the Kainate, the heads of which form the Triumvirate of Warlords. Each of these fancies themself as a Sith’ari, the perfect being who will break and remake the Sith in their image. All of them believe the Sith have no future without their leadership. All of them are biding their time to seize power. Yet, they are not the only powers in the order. Here you may find a great variety of Sith and those who serve them. Their motivations may be many, but their goal is singular: Total galactic domination.
The Sith are typically divided into three ranks: Acolytes/Apprentices, Knights, and Lords. Some advancements are given by one’s master, but others are taken. In the Sith Order you will find all ranks of Sith, many of whom are trained in slightly different ways.
Sith Acolyte/Apprentice
The lowest that can be considered Sith. Many acolytes are not considered Sith at all, but mere hopefuls who may climb their way to ascension through strife. The primary distinction between an acolyte and an apprentice is the presence of a master. An acolyte may learn from instructors, but an apprentice learns primarily from their master. Most masters only have one apprentice, but some take on multiple to see them struggle against one another. Apprentices are typically afforded more respect than acolytes.
Sith Knight
A knight of the Sith is recognised as such. This title is sometimes claimed through strife and conquest, but also often granted by a master after a great ordeal. These enjoy more power, freedom and respect than their lessers, and some even take on apprentices of their own. Some knights carry a darth moniker, while others do not. Knighthood is the time when a Sith begins to come into their own, leave behind childish things and become who they were meant to be.
Sith Lord
The upper echelons of the Sith. These exalted beings have mastered the dark side of the Force and become power incarnate. “Sith” means perfect, and that is what Lords strive to be. A lord’s primary concern is to expand and maintain their power, and to pass on their work to a worthy apprentice. Some Sith lords may enjoy greater status than others, such as the Triumvirs or a Sith Emperor.
Types of Sith
Each Sith may fancy themselves as a unique being of unprecedented power and perfection, but the history of the Sith shows that many may be categorized into types. Some may break the mold, and others again may transcend from one to another. No one was born Dark Lord of the Sith, after all. Some of the common archetypes that one may find in our Sith Order are as follows:
Warlord
Whether reigning from castles on high or with fleets that blot out stars, the two most defining aspects of any true Warlord are power and control. Aside from the Triumvirate, numerous groups seeking power or their own domain within the Sith Order vy for control and prestige among their fellow Warlords and underlings alike. Groups such as the Inquisitorius, the High Sith, and the Order of Arcane Syn are all examples of the various powers that seek to undermine or supplant the existing Triumvirate. Whether you seek to carve out your own place among gods or simply have no desire to answer to anyone but yourself, a Warlord is the height of power.
Warrior
Making up a fair bit of the rank and file of the Sith, although by no means being simple, the Warriors rely on the strength of their arms and the skill of their blades to carry them into and through any battle or struggle. Clad in heavy armor, leading armies into conquest, decimating enemy formations, the Warriors are the backbone and broad blade of any army worth the name Sith. As varied as the different forms of lightsaber combat and just as deadly, the Warriors encompass and exemplify one of the core beliefs of the Sith; strength.
Assassin
Whether you call them assassins, hunters or inquisitors, one cannot argue with the effectiveness of these remarkable stealth warriors. Using covert tactics and deception, these Sith can change the course of a battle with a single stroke. With a combination of martial prowess and skill with the Force, they serve multiple purposes. Some use their abilities to seek out betrayal within the Order, while others use theirs to corrupt enemy ranks. Assassins know that true power lies in the shadows.
Sorcerer
The truest weapon of a Sith is not the lightsaber, but the Force. And none know the mysteries of the Dark Side more intimately than a sorcerer. Weaving dark powers, these mighty magicians can alter the very fabric of reality and unleash untold power upon their enemies. Whether forging marvelous items and terrible monsters through alchemy or weaving spells scribed in ancient times, there is one thing a sorcerer knows: Limits are meant to be broken.
Not all those who work with the Sith Order are force users. Non-force users are vital to the power and stability of our Order. Some of the most vital archetypes for non-force users are as follows:
Military
Wars are not won by politicians or space wizards, but by blasters and boots. From generals and admirals to crew and rank-and-file alike, the Military of the Sith Order is not to be underestimated by the Sith that they follow into battle. Their ideals and reasons for fighting may range from simply loyalty to blind faith or even just following orders, it matters little so long as they perform their duties without exception. Ships need crews, battles need soldiers, wars need commanders, and the Military has them all.
Administrator
The Sith Order is not merely some army on the march or a government of only Warlords and commanders, for after the conquest must come the order. Religious and bureaucratic leaders, administrative and civil officials, even corporate heads, these are all but a few examples of the Administrators that keep the Sith Order running and efficient. Far away from the frontlines of the battle and instead at the head of courts and political scheming, the day to day overseers of the various domains and territories may be loyal to one Warlord or another, or even to just themselves.
The Handbook of the Sith is never complete. As the order must adapt and evolve towards our true goal, so must this book be updated to reflect the strides we make in our quest for total domination.
