STANDARD FEATURES
  • All standard features for amphibious and carrier frigates.
ADVANCED SYSTEMS
  • Explorer: The Thranta Mothership is designed to function in almost any environment, fully amphibious, it can travel in space, atmosphere, or deep beneath liquid environments providing far more variability in traversal than a traditional starship, let alone one large enough to act as a carrier. It also uses small tractor beams to move debris out of the path or towards one of the entrances/exits designed for underwater usage. It uses a great deal of isolation systems primarily to ensure no damage to the ship would cause the entire thing to flood with water or in reverse, have all the air sucked out. This can technically double as a minor security system but most ships already are heavily equipped with blast doors anyway so is merely more notable in that factor. It is likely also equipped with plenty of sensory and scientific equipment for exploration purposes.
  • Can function as a full underwater base, and remain so indefinitely so long as there’s a way to continue supplying power and food. As it’s systems provide the ability to take oxygen out of the water as well as purify water for consumption. Compared to many frigates ti can be remarkably comfortable.
  • Very highly equipped hangar bay, that’s specially designed to allow its vessels to get in and out quickly, yet without risking too much water coming inside should this be done underwater.
  • Especially due to the kind of interference that underwater environments can provide, equipped with especially powerful and encryptable comm systems.
STRENGTHS

  • Extreme hangar allows for 4 fighter and 2 support craft compliments
  • Fully amphibious and capable of withstanding most environments.
  • Both good speed and good defenses.
  • Mass driver cannon and few turbolasers are it’s best defense other than fighters for taking out other large ships as it’s been well sized up for the motherwhip, the cannon is incredibly precise, but draws a great deal of power. And is limited to targets ahead of the ship.
  • Much like it’s smaller version, almost every weapon placement (aside from the mass driver cannon) is actually hidden underneath the plating most of the time. Aside from making it look sleeker when out of combat, this also can be used to protect the weapons, as well as make it easier for it to move around underwater.
  • Should carry plenty of scientific equipment
WEAKNESSES
  • Without any ships from its hangar the mothership would serve as little more than a mobile base of operations. It is heavily lacking in the offense department, and while fast. The lack of maneuverability means it would be hard to simply out-pilot anything around it’s own size let alone smaller.
  • Although it has an acceptable amount of point defense laser canons, it’s otherwise proportionally armed with extraordinarily little. In a very tight engagement, such as is more likely underwater, it may actually preform quite well. But in proper space battles the equipment is mostly best just keeping fighters off of its hull while it launches its own. The Mass Driver cannon is it’s most powerful weapon, but in order to be utilized effectively against other ships, it has to draw a lot of power from the other weapons. Thus resulting in great risk. Another problem with it is that it relies on being roughly facing the target, with only a 20 degree firing arc (starting straight ahead and going underneath), any vessel that can manuever around the ship, or out of the arc, is simply safe from it.
  • Slow to maneuver despite it’s speed, it’s advised for the mothership to aim so that it can dart in one direction and keep its distance and not have to try and navigate a battlefield.
DESCRIPTION

The Thranta Mothership is a part of a drive towards Amphibious military forces, preceded by Helix Solutions in his aquatic droids, Mariah began work on Amphibious ships. First starting with the Thranta Spawn, a type of fighter equipped to work very effectively underwater and fairly well in space as well, but having fighters alone was hardly sufficient for a military presence. And so much like with the fighter she designed the Mothership to work with them, and thus with other amphibious forces designed by Helix or otherwise. And so the carrier was needed, and that was where the Thranta Mothership came in. As big as a Frigate could be, the mothership is designed to harbor a good portion of fighters, but be small enough to still be useful in many oceanic planets and not just carry them above water. The ship is almost exclusively a carrier when it comes to combat, Being great for a range of environments certainly, carrying many ships, but otherwise being best used as essentially a comm and operations center and not too much else.

Has a wide number of entrances and exits, all of which designed to handle both vacuum and highly pressurized underwater circumstances. This is necessary to deploy troops, cargo, and amphibious ships. It also features both a wide number of sensors and viewports in isolated portions of the ship, just in case something manages to get through the transparisteel and seals.

Consumables: 4 years rations or 1.5 years luxury. Can have inbetweens
Cargo Capacity: 15,500 metric tons
Minimum reasonable crew: 650
Full crew: 1250 (most are maintenance, surveyors, and security)
