Description -
Tiln Frex's portable computer is an amalgamation of scavenged components and street ingenuity, assembled into an imitation of a professional computer system.
Starting life as a simple datapad which came into her possession after a stint as a gangland courier, Tiln's portable became what it is gradually. Over the years, the young slicer had begun to repair the device's higher functions, many of which were broken or disabled when she acquired it; she scrounged parts from underlevel markets and refuse heaps, many of which came from different models, but were made to work with ingenuity and will.
Tiln's efforts to improve upon the device's standard functions followed soon after. As her skills improved and her ambition grew, she added more and more modifications, spilling out of the pad's original casing.

"That's your war box? A suitcase?"
_Incredulous unknown slicer.
It was around this time that Tiln's portable gained its iconic profile. Having well outgrown its datapad shell - and having long ago become something much more than a mere datapad - its owner began looking for a new housing for her creation. Hunting through Coruscant's garbage pits, the young slicer came across a discarded black plastoid suitcase, a little the worse for wear but still perfectly serviceable. Tiln quickly saw possibilities for her find, and with a little modification, was able to adapt the lid into a housing for her machine.
To the untrained eye, Tiln's portable looks like any other battered suitcase, carried by a vagrant traveler; inside, however, is a marvel of improvised computer technology. Cobbled together from the guts of datapads, terminals, comlinks, droids and all manner of other devices, it has been referred to as a "BRT in a box". It has been said that, should Tiln add any more components without taking a few out, she might have to get a bigger suitcase.

"You know who that was? That was Tiln Frex! They say she somehow crammed a planetary mainframe into that suitcase of hers..."
_Unknown slicer.

Of note, Tiln's portable currently has read-write slots, decks and sockets for multiple types of media, including holodiscs, datacards, data rods, computer tapes and - owing to personal preference - sound slugs. For display, the machine has a small vidscreen, as well as a hologram projector and a socket for an interface visor; there is also a holoreflector unit, capable of making 3D models of small objects. For physical copies of text and images, there is a small flimsiplast printer. For communication, Tiln's portable has a pair of scomp link sockets and two extendable universal computer interface plugs, as well as a long-range data transceiver and a comm laser for more secure transmissions.
For security, Tiln has installed numerous features to keep her machine safe. These include a combat de-ionizer, which together with an agrinium case liner shields the device against electromagnetic pulses and ion weapons. The machine also has a distortion field emitter and a sonic damper, capable of disabling electronic monitoring devices and preventing physical eavesdropping, respectively.
The portable's case has a pair of biometric locks, one for each of Tiln's thumbs, which check fingerprints and take genetic readings before unlocking. Should a would-be thief fail in unlocking the case, the portable activates a shock-filament located in the metal strip around the outside, stunning them and placing an automatic call to Tiln's comlink with an approximate location, based on local spot-on locator signals.
Should Tiln ever find herself about to be captured, her portable is equipped with an emergency flash-clear button which scrubs the device's entire memory down to and including system BIOS, irretrievably erasing any and all incriminating data.
Aside from its computer functions, Tiln's portable only occupies the lid portion of the suitcase it is built into, allowing Tiln to use the remaining space to carry some of her possessions.

Overall, Tiln's portable computer is a potent slicer's tool, one of a kind and possessing a battery of useful features. Its owner takes great pride in her creation, and knows its every nook and cranny, able to get the absolute most out of what she has made.
