Who are we?
The Tygaran Alliance is a confederation centred on the world of Tygara and its people. It seeks to promote law, peace, justice and security and to protect its people. In a nutshell, it represents a compact between the human-led paramilitary corporation Firemane Industries and the elves. The leaders are Siobhan Kerrigan and Anya Venari, who is know as Star Queen Tirathana the Seventh of the Eldorai.
Tygara is not ruled by one central government or inhabited by one race as elf. Instead, the elves are diverse and varied, reflecting the various archetypes that commonly appear in Fantasy. Common aspects are a monarchic form of government that is either a matriarchy or close to one, a religion centred on a supreme goddess figure and a perception of the Force that stands outside the Jedi-Sith two-party system. For a long time, the elves were isolated from the rest of the Galaxy, but know they want to ensure their voice is heard and they are not pushed around.
First contact with Tygara was fairly recent. Firemane provides advanced technology to develop and protect this world, but also maintains colonies and domains beyond Tygara. It is a major player in local politics. Intrigues between and within the elf societies often turn bloody and resemble a game of thrones.
Eldorai: These are the most technologically developed space elves and can be compared to High Elves or Eldar. Historically, they're also inspired by 19th century Japan. They originate from the planet Kaeshana on the doorstep to the Unknown Regions, but were forced to migrate when a massive asteroid devastated their homeworld, turning it into an apocalyptic wasteland where survival is a daily struggle.
They are the most united elves and are governed by an autocratic monarchy with strong theocratic elements. Officially, the Star Queen is seen as the governor of the Goddess Ashira. The Eldorai have technology that's up to galactic standards and inhabit the northern continent of Tygara. Their best warriors are the Angelii, an all-female corps of Force-users who use elemental powers to serve as palace guards and shock troops. The Exodus has humbled the Eldorai and forced them to be more open to outsider influence, but they are very proud. The present Queen has introduced many progressive reforms to bring them into the future, though these do not have universal support.
Qadiri: Of all the Tygaran natives, these are the closest to the Eldorai. They live in a part of Tygara characterised by deserts and are renowned as skilled navigators. Culturally, they are inspired by Ancient Persia and India. Qadiri are stronger and hardier than Eldorai, but still physically weaker than humans. They are tailored to survive in the hotter conditions of central Tygara. Unlike the Eldorai, the Qadiri are politically fractious.
Nominally all accept the Saoshyant, a religious figure comparable to a Pope, as the highest priestess of the Goddess Kashara, but her temporal power is questionable. The most powerful ruler is the Shâhbanu of Amikarese Empire, Semiramis, but her nation is one among many monarchies, principalities and republics that jealously guard their independence. By and large, the warlike Qadiri have a Renaissance level of technology, but they're eager to embrace what outsiders can offer them. Slavery is a part of life in all Qadiri states and voices of abolition are few, though Firemane is dedicated to ending this practice.
Xioquo: Cunning and ruthless, the Xioquo name has become a byword for cruelty on Tygara. This is a little unfair since the other elf races are hardly pure as white snow.
The Xioquo resemble the drows of Fantasy and live far beneath the earth in a place called the Underealm. They are known as vicious pirates, slavers and darkside Force-users. Centuries of isolation, resentment and oppression have left their mark on their society, where dark mistresses held the people in thrall and directed their hatred against outsiders. Their technology can be compared to the 19th and early 20th century on Earth. The Xioquo were taught that it was their destiny to rule Tygara and that one day their immortal Queen Mystra would awaken and lead them to glory. Recently, they were conquered by an alliance of Firemane, Eldorai and Qadiri.
The battle was brutal and the casualties staggering. Mystra was awakened, but slain by the Alliance after proving her evil nature. Now the Xioquo stand at a crossroads and the Alliance faces the task of winning the peace and integrating them. Some Xioquo embrace change, especially freed slaves, others seek to turn back the clock.
Vashyada: While the Eldorai, Xioquo and Qadiri have often sought martial glory and pursued dreams of manifest destiny, the Vashyada have been content with protecting what is theirs and being left alone. They are a strong, tough, isolationist people who live in a forest land called Yarkul. They are skilled guerilla fighters and hunters known for their archery, but stuck with a Medieval level of technology and thus stagnant.
However, both the Qadiri and Xioquo learned the lesson that though the Wood Elves are comparatively 'primitive', they are not weak, for the wood people repulsed attacks from both races. Politically the Vashyada are not a monolith, for though they accept the authority of two joint monarchs on paper, in practice their villages and fiefdoms are very independent. However, a demigoddess called Tylania serves as prophetess and arbiter for disputes. Whereas the other elf races lean towards being grey or dark, the Vashyada embrace the light side of the Force and do not tolerate the dark. Their Priestesses are among the greatest healers of Tygara. Unlike their cousins, they're fairly egalitarian as far as gender relations are concerned.
In addition, Tygara is now inhabited by the Kar'zun. This is a silicon-based race of rock people who once lived on Kaeshana along with the Eldorai. They are strong, tough and honourable, but also a wounded people. The rivalry between both races was fierce and they warred for centuries, before the Eldorai Queen Ariane the Great wrested victory from near-certain defeat and crushed the Kar'zun.
Relations were poisoned for centuries when she enacted a near-genocidal campaign and her successors forced the Kar'zun into reservations. Under the new, liberal regime of Queen Tirathana, the Kar'zun have been emancipated and given territory of their own. However, purists on both sides refuse to forget old grudges. It should be noted that Kar'zun communities still exist on ruined Kaeshana. Ironically, they may inherit it.
Firemane Industries was originally founded as an arms manufacturer and PMC, but has since evolved into a megacorporation that can be considered a corporate militarist state. The corporation is corun by Siobhan and Tegaea Alcori. It fields its own paramilitary forces, fleet and Force order, the Order of Fire. It is dedicated to developing worlds that suffered during the Dark Age and keeping the peace on Tygara. It has an alliance with the Eldorai, but also close relations with some Qadiri states and the Vashyada. The Fire Order is the Company's Force-using arm and embraces a philosophy of balance, trying to chart a middle course between the extremes of Jedi and Sith.
