Welcome to Stardrift Station

  • IC:
In a galaxy torn by war, thousands of sentients were forced to flee their homeworlds in the wake of the destruction of Panatha and Csilla, joining the diaspora of galactic refugees. Some settled in neighboring starclusters where their culture and way of life were preserved. Others fractured and scattered across the stars, taking root in countless small communities on planets across the galaxy. Still others chose a different form of life altogether...

Like the Whitedrift Exchange of centuries ago, Stardrift Station roams the spacelanes as a mobile habitat and trade station, carrying tens of thousands of passengers across the stars. Here, a collection of galactic refugees has settled permanently - but a few of the remnants of Panatha and Csilla - to jointly run and oversee the Stardrift. Coexisting in a tenuous peace, the two factions roam the stars as nomads, refusing to lead a terrestrial existence and be beholden to an empire or government.

Now thousands of other sentients have joined the station, ranging from a dozen different species from a thousand different walks of life. What began as a refuge for two species who lost their homes has now culminated in a safe haven for all who would escape the politics and wars of the galaxy.
  • OOC:
Welcome! We are a minor faction that puts an emphasis on threading and episodic storylines of all types, though with a central focus on a hyperdrive capable space station called the Stardrift.

    Theme:
Overall, the theme of Stardrift is something like the intrigue of Deep Space 9 meets the survival of Battle Star Galactica meets the Star Wars Colossus. We put a lot of emphasis on narrated (guided by a narrative profile) episodic adventures; we might base a thread on the planet we're orbiting, a space phenomenon, an inter-faction dispute, and other such scenarios. There are also faction-based missions, which may center around conditions on the station, military action, piracy, and many more themes. We highly encourage members to write their own stories, create their own lore and histories, and to feel free to populate the Stardrift within the ongoing and ever evolving story of the Stardrift.

    Narrators:
Stardrift makes special use of several "Narrator" accounts. Narrator accounts are somewhat like Writer Vs. Environment accounts, representing external threats or forces for the writers of Stardrift to play off of. While Narrators are usually enemies, there are also several Station Narrators that RP the roles of faction heads, station ops, and other positions. The goal of Narrators is to keep the story flowing, add tension, and to add some narrative fun to storylines.

    Membership:
There's RP and threads for anyone who wants to interact; if you'd like to be a resident on the station, there's no signup or request process - simply join and take a look at any upcoming stories. If you'd like to RP within a particular faction on the Stardrift, we ask you send a DM to the head narrators of those factions so they can place you appropriately (The Chiss would probably not have a Trandoshan among them, for example, but might have one as a mercenary). You can find more info on factions and narrators under the "Factions" tab.

  • ------------------ THE CHISS ------------------
    Chiss Separatists:
The Chiss Separatists are military remnants from the annihilation of Csilla - after the battle, disenchanted with the military and their failure to stop the destruction of their homeworld, a single admiral took a small fleet of warships and refugee liners away from Chiss space. They eventually settled on the Stardrift, offering fleet protection in exchange for continued fuel for their ships and permanent residence for their passengers. Militarist in nature, they support the uneasy agreement between the fleet and the station, and maintain their military command structure.

    Chiss Isolationists:
The inhabitants of Chiss refugee liners, the Chiss Isolationists are a mixture of Chiss civilians and military personnel who have left the Chiss fleet to live on the station permanently. Rigidly traditional, these Chiss have withdrawn into a tight-knit clan society that shuns outsiders and rejects the fleet (emblematic of the government that failed them). While not inherently hostile, the isolationists believe in supporting their own community over others.

    ------------------THE PANATHANS ------------------
    Panathan Loyalists:
The Panathan Loyalists to True Panatha are remnants of the armies that fought on Panatha on the side of the Sith - convinced that they were Gods - and who paid the price when their planet was destroyed twice over (once by darkside ritual, then the final blow that destroyed the physical planet by the Eternal Empire). After the fracturing, tens of thousands of Panathans fled into the stars, with the Loyalists being the first to occupy the Stardrift. The dominant faction on the station, the Loyalists run the station, maintain systems, and operate security - though to this day maintain a near paranoid dislike of force users.

    Panathan Followers:
Descendants of the Followers of Palawa, the Panathan Followers were the rebels, agitators, and naysayers on Panatha. Decrying the reverence of the Sith as Gods, the Followers foretold the planet's destruction, and were the first to leave and inhabit the Stardrift as a precautionary measure. Possessing fewer numbers than the Loyalists, the Followers were displaced by the Loyalists when they took control of the Stardrift - despite this, the Followers remain a powerful faction, and consist of monks, mystics, and Dojos who wield considerable political power.

    ---------------- THE CITIZENS UNION ----------------
    Trade Union:
There are many species aside from Chiss and Panathans on the Stardrift, and a great many of them have made their homes and fortunes on the station. The Trade Union features the most powerful (or most profitable) of these businesses, and represents an economic power house in terms of station politics. Presently, corporate interests have been rising within the Union, and corporate agents ("Corpos") and corporate turf wars have become a rising problem.

    Citizen's Council:
The Citizen's Council represents the interests of the everyday person on the Stardrift; thousands of sentients across dozens of species - ranging from lowly maintenance workers to esteemed station administrators - elect representatives that secure citizen interests in the council. While weak politically, the Citizen's Council has been responsible for labor strikes that have crippled the station in the past.

    ------------------ THE PIRATES ------------------
    Strata Pirata:
Strata Pirata, or "Station Pirates" are a strange blend of species, and one of the few places Chiss and Panathan mix without prejudice. This pirate band makes up the seedy underbelly of the Stardrift, and is implicitly involved in theft, slicing, piracy, bounty hunting, and other criminal enterprises. However, unlike other pirate operations, Strata Pirata operates primarily to feed, clothe, and house the families and dependents of its own members, and obtains credits, food, medicine, and other vital supplies for the Stardrift. Considered a necessary evil by the station, Strata Pirata is tolerated and a blind eye is turned to their operations, as without them the station would be much worse off.

    Pirate Nation:
Direct descendents of the Sovereign Latitudes and the previous Pirate Nation, the Pirate Nation of today formed out of the power vacuum of the Collapse (the period of time when many major factions fell out of power due to stagnancy). Now a number of nation states, the Pirate Nation looks at the Stardrift as one of the few prizes that, due to its independent nature, could be taken without fear of intervention from remaining galactic governments. Ruthless marauders, the Pirate Nation seeks to obtain the Stardrift at all cost.
    ------------------ THE OTHERS ------------------
    The Network:
If the Strata Pirata are the seedy underbelly, then the Network is the dark pit. The Network is a collection of spies, assassins, and bounty hunters that comprises the bloody and violent side of the Stardrift. Those in the Network often have connections to larger and more organized criminal enterprises, with many members wanted by numerous galactic governments. When someone wants an illegal weapon, hard spice, or something else morally reprehensible, one contacts the Network rather than the Strata Pirata.
