Years ago, a Republic Remnant thrived in the vast and mysterious expanse of Wild Space, a region rich with untapped resources and hidden potential. This remnant was a beacon of hope, embodying the ideals of democracy and unity in a galaxy still reeling from the aftermath of the Collapse. However, the emergence of the Bryn'adul, a fierce and relentless empire driven by their own brutal agenda, shattered that hope. Their relentless campaigns decimated the remnants of the Republic, driving its leaders and citizens into hiding or forcing them to seek refuge elsewhere.

"Even my dim old eyes can see the mantle of destiny that cloaks you." — Rukil
In the wake of the Bryn'adul's onslaught, Wild Space has become a desolate frontier, largely uninhabited and devoid of the significant governing bodies that once provided stability and protection. Even now, years after the fall of the Bryn, the once-vibrant worlds that teemed with life and culture now stand as isolated enclaves, each struggling to survive in a harsh and unforgiving environment. The loss of centralized authority has created a power vacuum, inviting chaos and lawlessness to flourish in its wake. Pirate fleets, spicers, slavers, Bryn cults, and Imperial warlords threaten the meek and innocent.
For many, that refuge was Lothal.
Hope seemed a rare and dwindling commodity, but in 900 ABY, hope found its spark once again. One by one, worlds across Wild Space and the Slice began communicating once again, lighting up the map with tiny blips. Coordinates were shared, situation reports given, and trade lanes established. Families separated by lightyears between planets began to reunite. Scattered Republic garrisons made contact and efforts to regroup went underway. By 902, the Remnant had built a fledgling network of systems on the edge of the galaxy. Hopeful worlds began to align, rebuilding the Republic they once were. On Lothal, the Wild Space Republic was born.

The Republic Army is the Defense Force's planetary branch, encompassing the main infantry division, armored and mechanized corps, the marine corps, and aerial units. Troopers volunteer from dozens of worlds to train on Lothal. The Republic's boot camp is an extensive program that prepares troopers for combat against a multitude of hostile forces in dozens of environments. After graduating, recruits are issued standard trooper gear and are stationed throughout Republic space. Once their initial tour is served, troopers in good standing are offered their choice of locale for each subsequent tour completed, enabling young troopers the opportunity to see all of Republic space or to remain where they feel most connected.

The Republic Navy is the Defense Force's interstellar branch. It's organized into three main divisions: the starfighter corps, Galactic Marines, and the naval fleet itself. Cadets volunteer from dozens of worlds to train at one of several prestigious naval academies in the Republic. These cadets undergo a rigorous training regimen that prepares them for a variety of duties ranging from hyperlane patrol to fleet engagements. Starfighter pilots train for dogfighting via advanced flight simulations and practice runs. Galactic Marines, the navy's specialized combat unit, trains for boarding actions and orbital-drop deployments.

The Republic Rangers is an old guard civilian corps with a wide range of duties and responsibilities. Those who enlist in the Rangers are often Defense Force veterans, retired mercenaries, ace pilots, homesteaders, and even latchkey youths. Ranger training can vary from system to system, but in general, every Ranger is expected to pilot their own ship, have working knowledge of astronavigation, and be able to handle themselves with a blaster. Though the Rangers are a decentralized force, they do maintain a garrison in Akiva where the corps' leadership coordinate inter-system missions.

The Republic Senate is the WSR's governing body and is comprised of hundreds of politicians, representatives, and ambassadors. Together, these officials convene to discuss matters of policy and legislation on behalf of the member worlds they represent. The Republic Senate building is located in the capital, Lothal City, and is the beating heart of governance in the Republic. Here, senators draft and present bills before their colleagues. Proposed legislation is debated, voted upon, and codified into Republic law if passed by a majority vote. During times of conflict, the Senate may convene to discuss matters of war finances and foreign affairs.

The Republic doesn't officially recognize any single Force order as definitive, but the most prominent in Wild Space are the Jedi Wardens. Known formally as the Wardens of the Sky, the Jedi Wardens are a unique organization of Light and Grey Force users who dedicate themselves to protecting the hyperlanes from threats to the people. Wardens often operate alone but have been known to work in small groups, even partnering with the Ranger Corps when necessary. They use a combination of lightsabers, blasters, and martial arts to dispatch foes. At Warden's Rest, the order's temple on Sanctuary, the Wardens of the Sky meet to train, meditate, and keep one another informed of potential threads and areas of concern.
